Our Folly Flamingo Sunburst Suite is a great honeymoon rental or just right for a romantic getaway. A private screen porch has a table with three chairs. The balcony off the bedroom overlooks the courtyard. Your great room has a wrap around couch, cable television, DVD / VCR, movies & books, wireless internet, dining table for four, mini kitchen with apt. size gas stove, standard refrig, coffee pot, electric kettle, blender, toaster, microwave, heat / air, and ceiling fan. Upstairs has queen bed, dresser, TV / DVD, central heat and air, ceiling fan, large bath shower with seat, and walk in closet. Park the car and stroll to town, the beach, or fishing pier for a little dancing under the stars.

Great stay

We had a great time here. You can't get any closer to all the restaurant's and shops in folly. The walk to the beach has to be less than a minute. This is a beautiful and clean place and Janet is great to work with.

Hidden Gem!

My college age daughter and I were visiting my son, daughter in law and new grand daughter in Charleston for the week and wanted to spend a couple of days at the beach. Janet was so wonderful to work with in allowing us to book the Sandpiper suite last minute. The location is fantastic and the two larger units are top notch (Janet took us on a tour after the other renters checked out). Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. Janet took extra care to be sure we were settled and we enjoyed our conversations and time with her as well as with the other renters. Hopefully we will be able to return for a week in the summer with extended family and rent the entire property.

Owner's Response: Hello Terri, So glad you gave the Sandpiper a chance. I have fallen in love with the tiny house culture since I previously owned a 20'X24' house on Folly overlooking the river. Small spaces can be quite comfortable if there are enough windows and nice views. The Sandpiper is a bit quaint since the bath and shower are off the deck, but it is my favorite spot. It's like the Three Bears story, you have to try it, it may be just right! Hope you do make it back and enjoyed chatting with you. Take care and stay warm till you Folly again. Janet

Disappointing

The owner came into the property unannounced!! She previously suggested we have a late check out because of traffic and later recanted because she had friends that wanted the property at the last minute. There was a supposed noise complaint that happened prior to the owner coming into property unannounced yet she did not express to us the noise complaint until later and this was through text. The owner did not answer her phone or return texts when I called to clear the confusion and apologize if necessary. This caused a gloom over the rest of the weekend, so much so that we contemplated going elsewhere. We were on edge when in the house that the owner would come in unannounced again. If you are looking for a stress-free get away, I would NOT book this property. Next time I plan on going through a realty company to avoid the possibility of having to deal with another nosy, dominating owner. This property seems to be a former house that was split into several properties. Parking the last night was impossible! The only reason I gave this place two stars is because of the location to Center Street.

Owner's Response: Interesting so here is my version: I never met this woman from Greenville. After arrival and check in she later called me around 11PM giggling and could not give me the correct order of the last four digits of her phone number which is used for the door code. I explained that if she had tried three times incorrectly she would be locked out for sixty seconds at which point she seemed to panic. I reassured her she was safe on the screen porch and that sixty seconds was only a minute. She continued to giggle and transpose her number so I ask if she had been drinking. My interest was to know how to respond and get her inside. Then she started crying and told me she had MS. My Mother had MS and I understand the mood swings so I gave her the cleaning code to get in. The next day, before I left for my house in Saluda, NC I went by around noon to replace the batteries just in case there was a mechanical malfunction and recheck code. I knocked, got no response, opened the door and called to anyone but still no response, so I changed the batteries. While testing the code a man came down the stairs. We spoke, and I explained I would be out of town with no cell phone signal (only textable) and just wanted to make sure lock was functioning correctly. Later that night I received an email from guests who had checked out at 6 AM to drive home to Wisconsin that there had been a disturbance the night before, and they had almost called the police. They said it seemed to be coming from the Sunburst Suite and thought it was two men. When I explained there was a couple next door they replied they should have called police for no woman should be talked to in that manner. All I could think of was I hope the next guests, four women, had no problems. I texted this guest that if this happened again police would be called. Folly can be a bit crazy when you live near bars so maybe this was a street brawl and these guests slept through it. I was not informed of any parking issues during stay. There are five spaces, and I require tag numbers for all guests cars. There should have only been four cars as declared, but again I was not on the island. The Sea and Sand Festival was that Saturday so parking may have been chaotic. Guests who arrived Sunday were staying in other suite?? I did ask this guest to vacate at noon, an hour later than normal check out. As always, they could have packed their cars, stayed parked, and gone to beach. We have outside bath and showers for our guests.

Awesome location

Our family of 4 greatly enjoyed our stay. We rented both units and the amount of space was just right. The location is near the central part of town and in easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, groceries, and the beach. Janet was a wonderful host and met us to go over the features of the house. The place was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Best stay ever

I booked this on VRBO, first time using the site. I had never been to any beach other than my home state Texas beaches. I took my Daddy to Spartenberg to see his baby broth that he hadn't seen in 30 yrs...with the exception that we spend at least 3 days on the beach. Well, we could have stayed 3yrs! The property is gorgeous, quaint, and close to everything...yet because of the garden, it feels very secluded. As far as the negative comments about Janet.. I don't get it. The owner/ manager were VERY accommodating !!!! Me and my Daddy will be back as soon as financially possible. Keep up the great work ladies...you have a beautiful place to be very proud of!

Owner's Response: Hello, So glad you and your Dad had a great Folly stay. Truth is most all guests (99 percent) are great. Sometimes long drives make first impressions a bit stark but usually after a good meal and a night's rest happy faces surface. I can only clean so fast and hate to hand over my rentals if things are not ready to my tastes. I owned an inn and don't want to disappoint my guests. After thirty years of AT&T with a couple of weeks vacation time yearly I feel folks deserve the best they can get for the price that they pay. I have seen people leave rentals with a vow to never return to Folly Beach. This is sad and sometimes the owner or rental unit had nothing to do with their displeasure. I do hope you will return and remember prices are best in Fall. Weather and water are warm through November most years. Wonderful for a getaway

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Sunburst Suite for a long weekend and, to be honest, can't say enough about what a wonderful spot this is. The house and courtyard are beautifully maintained and have everything you could need. The location is perfect - less than a five minute walk to the beach or Center Street, and less than a block from Bert's grocery store and the fantastic Chico Feo bar. The owner was great to work with and VERY patient in dealing with my many emailed questions and last minute schedule changes (we added an extra night to our stay a week before arriving). We highly recommend the Sunburst Suite and Folly Flamingo to anyone who wants a quiet, relaxing hideaway that still offers easy access to everything Folly Beach has to offer.

Owner's Response: Thank you, also, questions are the easy part if folks just ask. I try hard to work with guests by allowing early arrivers to at least be able to park, use outside bath and showers, and get as much Folly exposure as possible. Check in is 4 PM but guests can park as early as 2 PM. Departing at 11 AM guests can still park till 1 PM for a last beach walk, swim, or brunch before their drive. The courtyard is a joy with fruit trees, lots of Confederate Jasmine and Passion Plants climbing the privacy fence, lilies, and flowering trees providing a shady retreat once inside the gate. In fact, it is an green oasis close to it ALL with privacy. Take care and look forward to your next visit. Janet
