YOSEMITE'S WATERFALLS ARE AMAZING THIS YEAR! and..we've had more water in Bass Lake this year than in the past ten years.
We are very near the newly refurbished Mariposa Grove in Yosemite!
Spring is a glorious time to visit the area. Beat the crowds!
YOSEMITE PARK AND BASS LAKE ARE STILL AN AMAZING AND AFFORDABLE VACATION COMBINATION! OUR WHOLE CABIN COSTS LESS THAN ONE HOTEL ROOM AT YOSEMITE.
'We had such a wonderful time at your cabin. It was such a wonderful change from a boring hotel room' (Todd B.- recent guest)
This is a charming and comfortable cabin at Bass Lake that is somewhat secluded on a small hill overlooking the lake. There is one master bedroom and full bath with a California King bed and a TV. The second bedroom is small, with a bunk bed that is twin-sized on top and full-sized on the bottom. This bedroom has its own bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. The living room has a queen-sized Ikea sofa bed (comfy!) and a large TV with DVD/VCR player. The modern kitchen has a nook that sits 4-6. There is an adjacent library/den area with a larger table that can be used for dining, game playing, puzzles, crafts, working at your laptop, etc.
There is a hot tub on the deck that overlooks the lake. The hot tub is especially wonderful at night when all is quiet and the stars are bright. There is a patio table (with umbrella) which is the perfect spot for eating all meals, game-playing, relaxing with a glass of wine, etc. You will definitely spend a lot of time on the deck overlooking the hillside and lake. To the side of the house is an enclosed yard area with a concrete patio and a basketball hoop. Children love to play in this side-yard area (although young children must always be supervised)
It is a 5-minute walk to the lake. The Falls beach area is less than a mile down the road. In the other direction, there are many public beaches within walking distance or just a short drive...just choose one that fits your fancy. If you have young children, the beaches closest to our cabin have lots of shallow areas that are perfect for children to play safely in. The water is a great temperature for swimming during the summer. The Pines Village is 2 miles down the road. There you'll find The Pines grocery store, a gas station, a few restaurants and shops to browse in. There are boat and other rentals available on both sides of the lake as well as a couple of amazing burger, sandwich and ice-cream places (Millers Landing and The Forks).
New: Brand-new deck and brand-new hot tub in 2018!
Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers in both bedrooms! Sleep like a dream!
New: high chair, Pak'N'Play and baby toys! Save yourself the hassle of packing this essential baby gear!
The town of Oakhurst is just 8 miles away and has a wide variety of restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores, bowling, etc. There is also good golf, hiking and fishing nearby. And of course, Yosemite is just up the road! It's a 20 minute drive to the southern entrance to Yosemite (and the Mariposa Grove) and then another 40 minutes down into Yosemite Valley. Day trips into Yosemite are very easy to do....then come back to soak in the hot tub at night!
This cabin is a perfect retreat for couples who want a quiet get-away. Families love it too!

About Wendy Smith
We are a couple in our early 60's from the San Francisco Bay Area. Bass Lake is a 3-hour drive from our home. We bought our cabin 11 years ago while taking an anniversary trip to a Bed and Breakfast in the area. We stopped by a realtor's office for a casual chat, found out that this little home had just become available for sale and hadn't yet been listed, went over to take a look, and made an offer to buy it! Thus, we returned from our anniversary weekend as first-time cabin owners. We have traveled throughout France and stayed at many wonderful bed-and-breakfasts; we'd love for our French friends to enjoy our cabin while visiting America,
Wendy Smith purchased this Cabin in 2002
Why Wendy Smith chose Bass Lake
We love the peace and beauty of the mountain area. Although we have a boat, we find that we prefer the area when it's less crowded and we can hike and relax. My husband is a photographer, a la Ansel Adams, so there are limitless possibilities for his passion.
What makes this Cabin unique
The hot tub under the starry sky soothes many harried souls. The lake is beautiful from all directions, whether you're on it or biking or walking around it. Burgers and sandwiches at Millers Landing must not be missed. A romantic dinner at Duceys is worth every penny. Cuddling in the cabin living room by the fire with a good DVD and a good local wine or hot cocoa is enjoyable, no matter what the weather is doing outside.

a very enjoyable weekend getaway
We really enjoyed our stay. The home was clean, cozy, very pleasant, and nicely stocked. Wifi and TV were easy to access and use. The hottub was a great feature, and our family really enjoyed it.
We're so glad that you had a great stay. Please come again!
Great location. Clean, cozy, great deck with hot tub. Had a great time.
We're so glad that you had a great stay. Thanks for the review. Please come again!
The property was wonderful for our stay --- clean, well furnished and tastefully decorated.
We had 2 couples staying for 5 nights, so having 2 master bedrooms was great! We totally enjoyed the deck and hot tub!! We love to cook so the well furnished and stocked kitchen was super. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the vicinity.
Very clean inside, needs some TLC outside
We had a very nice time at Bass Lake. The house was very clean inside, and the wedge view of the lake was very nice. The location of the house is very close to the lake and the main area of Bass Lake, so that was great too. Part of the front yard has a lush ground cover but the left is barren with weeds in the planter area. The backyard was OK, a large concrete area, and the rest is dirt and low weeds, which was a great area for the dog to roam Up against the house was quite a mess. Several old garbage cans with no lids were lined up, don't know the purpose of them as well of lots of junk. There was a pile of old wood by the back door that had lots of cobwebs and probably its share of critters. I do think there was some sort of critter in the laundry area behind the washer and dryer because my dog was sniffing and whining around there. I couldn't find anything, however. The roof had a big black tarp being held down with logs over the kitchen area and the deck is also in need of repair.
I realize this is a mountain home, and dogs are allowed, which we really appreciated, I would just like to have a bit tidier outside area.
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay at our cabin and that you found the inside to be nice and clean.
I'd like to address a few of your concerns about the outside:
1) As you pointed out, we have chosen to have our rental be pet-friendly. Guests have told us how much their dogs enjoy our yard and deck. In deciding to be pet-friendly, we've pretty much chosen to not focus on maintaining a pristine lawn. If that were our goal, we'd end up having to withhold some of the guests' deposits, and we really don't want to do that.
2) Your stay took place at the end of a very hot summer. Most owners of mountain homes let their lawn areas go brown during the summer, because watering them is just not water-wise, especially as California is coming out of a severe drought. As soon as the rains start, everything will be lush and green again.
3) We are preparing to have both the roof and the deck replaced this winter. This will be during a down-season and will not affect our guests' stays in any way.
4) We just purchased new, bear-proof garbage cans in August. We will remove the old ones as soon as possible.
5) I cannot speak to the statement that you did NOT see a critter in the laundry room.
We do try to be responsive to all guests' suggestions.
