El Mirador is a 20 acre stand alone hilltop ranch. El Mirador is Spanish for "The View" You really have to see it to believe it! The house and pool are on the top of a 5 acre plateau, offering 360 degree views. The hilltop is shaded by many Oak trees. Very beautiful and peaceful views everywhere you look. Stars galore on clear nights. Lots of deer on the property to enjoy. The Hill country stone home is professionally decorated (You will probably want to be outdoors most of the time) You can cook and eat outside in the outdoor kitchen. There is a large built-in gas grill, table, chairs and ceiling fan. Sit outside by the fire pits and gaze at the star filled sky. The large pool is on the edge of the hill with a large stone patio with shaded seating area. Outdoor shower by the pool. For those who like to stay connected we do have wirless internet.

We purchased El Mirador in 2001 as a vacation home. We lived in Houston and the summers there are HOT and Humid. We loved the area so much we bought a full time home in the area for our boys to finish school. We are offering El Mirador as a vacation rental because we don't want to part with the property.
The Owner purchased this house in 2001
We purchased this vacation home to get away from the City. The climate is awesome. The views from every direction are amazing and can not be truly captured in photos.
The moment you drive in the gate you will realize why we love it so much. It is just 1.5 miles from Interstate 10 but you will feel like you are in the country. The quaint town of Comfort is about 5 miles away. There are antique shops and 3 really excellent owner operated places to eat if you choose to go out. Fredericksberg, Kerrville, and Boerne are all within 20 miles. San Antonio is 40 minutes away. The Riverwalk, Fiesta Texas, and Sea World are very accessible from I-10.
This place is so beautiful and very peaceful for those we loved the HillCountry lifestyle this is perfect. House clean and equipped with everything you need. My kids loved it they didn't want to leave they enjoyed the pool. Owner Sue very nice person. We had our privacy getaway we loved so much!!!!
We Spent our annual Christmas Hill Country Family Holiday at El Mirador...this was our first of many more to come stays at El Mirador'. The website and photos of this place do not do it justice as in person...the property is beautiful...it is secluded but very accessible to town (Comfort). The Ranch is beautiful! The Grounds are perfect for a family gathering...lots of yard for a perfect adventure or walk...game of soccer or football...the outdoor covered kitchen is wonderful for a morning breakfast of late night game of cards. There are 4 sitting areas outdoors...patio with fire pit by living area...outdoor Kitchen with large in ground fire pit ...along the stone sidewalks you will find a breakfast table 1/2 way to the pool and at the pool area are 3 swing chairs and table for a afternoon chat...by the pool are lounge chairs and the pool is gloriously large and clean and shaded by beautiful old oak trees... the property landscape are large cactus and rock gardens...trees surround the entire house...We went down the road to gather rocks and found a few Heart Stones along the way...The interior of the main house is beautifully decorated with many art pieces and ranch decor. The beds are super comfortable with up scale linens and bedding. The house is a 3 bedroom with a extra game room...which makes it nice at night for the kids to stay up late without disturbing the old folks. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need...He house has extra bedding and towels... We added two twin be air mattesses to one of the bedrooms for the baby and older daughter. Everyone was super comfortable! We look forward to coming back soon! Rose our small dog loved the fenced yard and was sad when we left. My husband and I , elderly parents (81&86), my sister and her son, my daughter, and grand baby all loved the home!
Thanks to Sue Ann for being such a lovely host we loved your home so much and we will definitely come again!
There have already been many positive reviews regarding the beautiful scenery, lovely house and quiet and peaceful surroundings, of which I wholeheartedly agree. Instead, I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know of the wonderful hospitality of the owner. (Owner name withheld due to review guidelines.)
Our group had several requests prior and during our stay, she was more than accommodating. She allowed us to move furniture and any furnishings we needed to. This included moving a queen size mattress from the unoccupied "guest house" to the big house so that the member of our group with multiple sclerosis could have a softer bed. Anything we needed, the owner personally brought to us. This included a new LCD TV to replace an older model (which still worked fine) so that we could watch movies that were saved on our laptop. She also brought us board games since the weather turned rainy and extra kitchen items when needed. Who does that these days? We were welcomed as if we were family and that meant a lot.
So enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets while you're there and know that if there is anything you need to make your stay more comfortable, the owner will see to it. Thanks for a wonderful time!
My wife and I have stayed at this beautiful home numerous times. Each time we seem to like the home/pool more and more. The house is very private and very clean. I would highly recommend El Mirador to anyone looking for a peaceful vacation with Texas Hill Country views.
We agree with the positive thrust in the other reviews for this property but it took us a day or two to grasp fully just how good El Mirador is. The images tell some of the story but not all of it.
Quality floor tiles almost everywhere made it easy to keep the place spotless, even on days with a near constant flow in and out of nephews, nieces and dogs. Storage space throughout the house is vast and in the kitchen the units provide ample room for all the crockery, utensils and food to be stored conveniently to hand leaving the tiled work surfaces clear.
None of the furniture is new, some of it is delightfully old, but it is in good condition, most comfortable and obviously loved by its owners. The well furnished and equipped outdoor kitchen and dining area, cooled by an overhead fan and with views to the east and west is a wonderful location. We also enjoyed a little overlook adjacent to the pool which provided a wonderful view out over the town of Comfort and east. We enjoyed early breakfasts at the table there watching the sun appear over the landscape. There are lots of other furnished spots outside geared towards other times of the year and activities.
Comfort is a friendly and lively little town with a busy café and restaurant scene. We can particularly recommend Comfort Pizza, simply the best pizza we have tasted, even though we have lived and travelled in Europe extensively.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at El Mirador and are most grateful to Sue Ann, the owner, for her help and advice.
My husband made the arrangements with Sue who was so very nice and so accommodating for this weekend. The house was clean for 8 of us, including an infant. The patio was absolutely great, and we loved being outside. The view was beautiful. We had a wonderful mothers day with my 86 year old mother & dad, and my daughter, 7 month old grandson and son-in-law and our other daughter. Although my mother took a spill in Fredericksberg and we had to visit the ER, we didn't let it spoil our weekend. Mothers day we grilled on the patio and enjoyed the view. Our grandson loved being outside as we all did. Thanks Sue for everything. It was definitely difficult to leave! We hope to be back.
