Sunny Jordan and her husband Bob Flint created Ginger Falls Vacation Rental to give their guests a memorable experience. Each item in the cottage was hand picked and reflects their good taste and sense of style. Before retiring in 2008 Sunny was in upper management of Art Galleries and now spends her free time creating something artistic. Bob has been involved in ceramics for the last 50 years and in addition to his major State commissions he teaches at a nearby art center. He also maintains a large studio on the property where he is always making something exciting in clay. Bob and Sunny work hand and hand on the property; Sunny designs - and Bob brings her designs to life in the form of moving boulders and planting trees/plants. Their rental and property is a tribute to their vision, dedication and love of the aina (land).
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2001
The day we purchased our property the waterfall was gushing and it was so exciting that we jumped at the opportunity of owning a secluded, jungle property with a seasonal waterfall. There is no other property like this so close to town - yet it is secluded and there are no neighbors in sight. The location is perfect! Guests have restaurants and shopping minutes away. The drive to the main attractions, Hana and Haleakala Crater, are approximately 1.5 - 2 hours away. And....it is very romantic!
The rental has a wonderful screened porch surrounded by exotic tropical landscaping, and 200 coffee trees. It is a great place to curl up with a book or watch the birds flit about. If one watches carefully they might see the Blue Heron who comes to find tadpoles in the stream bed - or the rare Amakii, a Hawaiian bird with a curved beak that feeds from the flowers. It is a great place to sit and observe nature. Another nice feature is the Jacuzzi tub on the screened porch; a relaxing way to end the day.
We provide coffee/tea for your stay and breakfast items for your first morning.
Wife and I had a great stay here. Waterfall was peaceful. Their place is minutes from town. Thanks Sunny and Bob.
Rob and Dawn.
We stayed at the Ginger Falls apartment to kick off our honeymoon in Maui. The property is off the beaten path but a short drive to plenty of fun places to explore. We loved being away from the touristy areas for a few days. Bob and Sunny have truly thought of every amenity and were so welcoming! We will absolutely be back for a visit in the future.
This was by far the best place we stayed at during our recent trip to Hawaii. That included three hotels in Waikiki, and two places on the Big Island. If I have ever dreamed about a place to go to relax, retire permanently , or even a little slice of heaven this is it. We knew it would be good when we drove in after following very well written directions and found our names written on a chalkboard at the front door. From there the discovery of this well-thought out cottage kept us saying "Oh wow!" There's a nice jacuzzi tub when you enter, on a enclosed patio with a reading area and a breakfast table. The living space includes a very comfortable bed and amazing sofa table in the TV area. The kitchen is well equipped, and has a few nibbles to keep you from starving. The best part of all is the bathroom, with a shower room that is covered is green tiles - with live orchids and a skylight. We couldn't say enough positive things about our experience here, would never stay anywhere else in Maui (perhaps except Hana because the trip to get there is so taxing) after staying here. We're afraid to write too good a review because others may book our spot the next time we want to go. If you are interested in this property then look no further, you won't find anything better.
We just loved our stay at the Ginger Falls cottage!
Sunny and Bob are the most attentive hosts you can imagine. Every detail in the apartment is well thought of and it includes everything you can think of. To name just a few highlights: The delicious welcome-breakfast was great, the private jacuzzi is a perfect relaxing place and the rain shower is just outstanding. Everything is in very high quality!
The place is located very quietly - you only hear the waterfall and the birds!
The location in Makawao is ideally situated "in the middle of Maui" and is a great starting-point for all kinds of activities.
We can highly recommend this cottage if you look for something special and unique!
Wow! Ginger Falls Cottage is the most pristine getaway, with everything you need and more. This immaculate one bedroom cottage is beautiful and comfortable. The beds and linens are the best that money can buy, and I am very picky. The large sleeping Lanai with jacuzzi tub was very special for us. The large walk in shower with glass ceiling and rain head was better than any outdoor shower. There is an instant hot water heater so you have all of the hot water your heart desires. The kitchen has all of the amenities and there is a washer and dryer just for your use. We loved the decor, the artwork, the overall design. They have thought of everything. There is a phone for your unlimited (US) calling, Internet, CDs, DVDs, Books, and a nice flat screened TV. I didn't bother with the TV, but my husband struggled with working the remote a little. I think it was the jet lag or maybe the time zone change that threw him off his game. I didn't notice, I was probably in the Jacuzzi, again!
It was like being the guests of really good friends. Good friends who were nearby but understood you wanted privacy. While the two of us were extremely comfortable, in addition to the queen bed in the bedroom there is a comfy twin on the lanai(screened), and the sofa in the living room is actually a daybed, so the cottage would be comfortable for a family of four or even four close friends. They have put together a book of local information and recommendations for guests. We were greeted upon arrival, not disturbed, not even once during our stay, were given a warm friendly farewell, and received a sweet email photo/postcard within a day or so thanking us for being such wonderful guests.
It's conveniently located in Makawao close to great restaurants, shopping and beaches in Paia on the north shore of Maui. Everything is like new, and designed well and the owners/managers are the nicest, most considerate people. We look forward to staying there again. Our only regret was we didn't stay longer! What more can I say, "I can only hope that it is available for us the next time we travel to Maui."
The photos and descriptions on the web sight accurately represent the cottage in it's current condition. If anything it was even nicer and larger. We highly recommend this property. Plan on staying longer. Plan on being wowed!
I must start by saying there were some wonderful things about this property. The owners were really personable and helpful. They have spent a great deal of money and energy to create an apartment which is beautifully decorated. The shower is magnificent! Prior to opening this unit, they had a cottage on their property, so they have lots of experience with a vacation rental. I will mention here some things I did not know beforehand and didn't think to ask about. The 2 acre property is surrounded on all sides by rock walls or vegetation-covered hills, causing me to feel closed in. The yard is pretty, and there is a small stream, but it does not create any or enough white noise to cover the sounds of the cars and motorcycles on the road up above--a surprise since it is in the country. At night, the traffic subsided. We were there during a rainy spell, the screened porch was cold and damp, and the property definitely had a jungle feeling to it, which might have been fine for some people. The apartment was also a bit chilly and damp. I would have preferred a vista, less rain and a warmer temperature, so I would have liked to be closer to the coast. Our last morning, the sun was out and it warmed up. The kitchen is definitely small and not well suited for meal preparation, but there are plenty of good restaurants within a few miles if you plan to eat out. I found the couch (a beautiful daybed) to be particularly uncomfortable for me. This is a beautiful apartment with great owners that just wasn't right for me. If you decide to stay here, be sure to check out the flower farm tour--so beautiful, the winery, and the town or Makawao--really sweet. Mama's Fish House is just 8 miles away. We liked Baldwin Beach, also 8 miles.
