A delightful retreat awaits for the person or family who rents this camp for a long weekend, week or even the season!
Nestled in the Adirondack Park on the winding Black Creek is a cozy cabin for all seasons. A slight walk down a private path and you can launch a canoe from the landing or troll for fish from a rowboat while you cruise along the winding creek, while looking at the abundant wildlife or maybe even catching enough fish for dinner.
During the summer month you are a short drive to the State Park on Hinckley Lake for swimming or sunbathing. Old Forge, Water Safari and a climb up Bald Mountain are an hours drive away. Fall, you just need to sit on the deck and see miles of gorgeous NY State finest foliage. Winter months skiers will take advantage of how close they are to McCauley Mountain, Snow Ridge and Gore Mountain. They are within driving distance for a day on the slopes. Snowmobilers are 500 feet from the snowmobile trails maintained by the Ohio Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club.
The open floor plan of this cabin allows everyone to be part of the action. The cabin comes completely equipped. A wood burning stove provides atmosphere and additional warmth during the winter months or on a chilly Fall evening. The combination living room/dinning room area and kitchen offer a beautiful view of the sunset, the ravine bordering the creek and the starry moonlit sky at night. A large, comfortable screen porch is a great place to sit in the rocking chair or on the glider with a good book. It's also a great place for a card game or puzzle making. The deck faces the south, which offers a private place for tanning and for passive solar heat in the winter months.
If there is a gambler in the crowd, Turning Stone Casino is an hours drive west on Route 365.

My father built the Family Camp in 1936. Nestled above the Black Creek in the Town of Grant it was a rustic summer home for my 4 brothers and sisters and my folks. There are many wonderful childhood, into adult memories contained within its walls. Laughter of children at play, adults sharing a game of pinochle or just sitting reading a good book. When I was a kid I remember going down to the 'fishing place' for a swim and to tease the girl cousins that were in swimming. I was the youngest of the cousins, so that was my job to tease the girl cousins. The camp has grown-up over the years with many improvements. In the past 5 years or so i have been painstakingly renovating, which is one of my hobbies, with the idea of renting it out. It has become much more than a summer place of refuge and adventure. There are many things that prospective renters can look forward to do at Black Creek Landing. Renters can spend their time fishing in the Black Creek, canoeing or row-boating down it's quiet waters. There is even enough land to ride ATV's. In the winter months the renters can cross-country ski, toboggan down the hill to the creek and snowmobile along the many trails nearby. If you close your eyes and think of a place to go where all is right with the world, 'Black Creek Landing' is the place to be any time of the year.
Kelli Grimaldi-Vance purchased this cabin in 2004
It was left to me and my siblings by my parents after their deaths. About 5 years ago my brothers and sister came to me and offered their shares to me because they didn't want the responsibility of ownership any longer. They knew how much I loved the 'Camp' so it wasn't a difficult offer for me to accept.
The tranquil & peaceful surrounding of the Northern air is the best 'medicine' after a long stressful week of whatever you may do in the City you're from. I guarantee it!
We had a great time on our vacation! Being met there by the owners added a really nice personal touch. The cabin was much larger than we had thought and was extremely comfortable. The convenience of being able to cook was great! The movie collection was great as well. It was nice to have so many options after the sun went down! The old radio in the corner was awesome!! I couldn't believe that it worked!!!
The weather was warm and sunny which allowed us to spend a lot of time outside. We visited Hinckley State Park. It wasn't open, but it was beautiful. We also drove up to Eagle Bay and hiked to Cascade Falls and around Cascade Lake. In all, we hiked over 12 miles in one day!!
We shared a lot of pictures with family when we returned. Now we're hoping to return at some point with a larger group. We have to wait until the new grandbaby arrives and is ready to travel:)
Thanks so much for having us! We're really looking forward to visiting again!!
We loved our stay here, didn't want to leave! This place was very peaceful and relaxing. The owner was very nice came over and greeted us, allowed the kids to play on his swing set, allowed us to use his canoes and had worms ready for us to fish, let us use his fire pit. We did a lot of fishing during our stay. The cabin had everything u needed only a few things you will need to bring. Very nice view! We will definitely be returning back here-hopefully longer than our last stay. Thank you Paul! From the Stallman's
I am lacking the words to describe this place which seems so close to heaven. Very quiet, very peaceful, nature all around, no traffic, no planes - so VERY restorative. If you need a break - this is the place to go to. Paul and his family are SO friendly, helpful and supportive - a service you would not find in a 5-star hotel.
Lovely down-time, exactly what we needed. I spent a majority of the two days on the deck overlooking a beautiful forest and mountains. Grilled outside, had a nice campfire, too. Paul was a great host.
A very comfortable cabin, in the middle of natural bounty. Those early morning views of summit from the BBQarea/Hall is something that I will cherish forever. At the peak of summer the mornings were just perfect with gentle breeze that relaxes you totally. Not much of flies outside.
Well furnished kitchen/Hall/Bed and bath. Bedrooms (6 separate beds) are upstairs and we all had a good night sleep. There is only one bath (standing and not a bathtub) though. Might be a concern if all of the inmates want to bath and start at the same time.
No difficulty in finding the routes (GPS was accurate), but you may or may not have cellular network. (My network coverage was lost near Herkimer town, ~10 miles from cabin). Nearest Walmart, in Herkimer town had all the groceries/items we needed. You are setting out to live with nature, so don't expect WiFi. Very thankful to Paul and his family for allowing us to stay and for providing us a memorable experience.
My husband and I celebrated our One year wedding anniversary during our stay. We were just absolutely amazed with the cabin and property. The view was beyond what words can tell, bring a camera---if you forget many stores are within 10 - 12 miles. We have already planned and booked our next stay at Black Creek Landing.
Enchanted Forest/Water Safari, Old Forge, NY is about 45 minutes from the Cabin. In Old Forge you can also climb Bald Mountain which over looks the Adirondack Mountains. Hinckley Reservoir State Park and Beach is about 5 minutes from the Cabin. Utica Zoo in the City of Utica is about 30 minutes from the Cabin.
