We stayed at this beach house for a week at Thanksgiving. We are a family of 4, with 2 daughters aged 8 and 10, a small dog, and my parents came and joined us for a couple of nights. The house was perfect. We had very cold weather during our stay and King tides, so I was grateful for the fabulous fires, which heated the house within minutes. I also appreciated the location, being not right on the beach. It was close enough for our kids to walk down and hang out playing in the sand on their own, but away from the king tide that hit. We could also walk into Stinson for dinner, to the well stocked shop or for a coffee and to potter around. The house looks small from the outside, but inside it was perfect for our family and the outdoor area would be great in warmer weather. Our girls loved being in the shared room, with day beds and their own TV. My husband had to work during our stay and he called Karen about internet access and she responded immediately and an engineer was at the house the same day. That is better service than we get at home! This is our third year spending Thanksgiving at the beach and this has been my favourite property by far. It was clean, well furnished, cozy and quaint, but with the feeling it is well maintained and cared for. On asking my daughter what she liked about the house she said ' It felt like home'. A much praised comment indeed.
A friend and I stayed at this beach house with our families before and after running the Miwok 100km race. The house fit our two families (6) very comfortably and had all the necessary amenities, and the hot tub was AMAZING to have before and after the race. Beach access within 100ft made for convenient strolls on the sand and dips in the ocean. Karen was always prompt with communications and helping us get settled in upon arrival. Would very happily stay again, Stinson always makes for a great relaxing get away not too far from San Francisco, but well removed from the mayhem and busy city life style.
Clean and comfortable, we loved our stay here. Steps from the beach, with everything we needed to enjoy our visit with our son and his girlfriend. We only had to bring food, beach towels, and our favorite books.
Outdoor area is fenced in and protected from the wind, and the hot tub was a hit with everyone. Nice and quiet atmosphere encouraged relaxation, and cooler mornings were warmed by the gas fireplaces easily. We especially enjoyed cooking with every spice imaginable already there. Kitchen cleanup was also a breeze with a dishwasher.
There was also plenty of room to spread out so you never felt crowded.
Karen, the host, was very welcoming and always available by phone for silly questions. I hope to meet her in person some day, as I am sure we would be fast friends. We look forward to coming back the next time we are in the area.
Only recommendation is if you are flying in to SFO, allow plenty of time for your return trip - it can be a challenging ride on route 1 to get back to the airport for a morning flight.
This place was perfect for our family of 5. It is really clean, the beds are very comfortable, and it's just set up really nicely. My little kids loved the cozy room with the twin beds. We would definitely stay here again.
I can't say enough about this place, my family spent 3 days here in March and had a wonderful time. The cottage itself was perfect, much larger than it looks and so clean and comfortable, felt like home the second you opened the door. We spent lots of time in the back yard just hanging out, kids LOVED the hot tub, and didn't hurt that one of the most beautiful beaches in CA was on our door step. Dealing with Karen, the owner, was also a pleasure, from our first contact to last she was a joy to work with, I honestly felt like we were renting from an old family friend who was genuinely concerned that our stay was perfect and we had everything we needed. I think we will be back :-)
My mother, my sister, and I stayed in this cottage for a long weekend. The accommodations were perfect for us. The attention to detail in every room including the backyard made our getaway so relaxing. It takes about one minute to walk to the beach. We assumed we would spend more time on the go, but the cottage was so inviting, we loved staying in. Karen, the owner was great to work with, and we can't wait to go back.
