Just what we were looking for. For 2 people, near the beach and close to Seaside, without the higher Seaside prices, updated & modern with 2 bikes included. We enjoyed the small neighborhood of beachy cottages. We could easily bike to the beach and walk or bike to Seaside. There's a flat bike trail and the 2 towns are seamless. Closest walkable restaurants are Cowgirl Kitchen and Whiskey Bravo. Although you are close to the main house with permanent residents, you don't really see them and it's very quiet.
The main living/kitchen area is spacious with new furnishings. The bathroom is nice with a large glass shower. The sink is a small vessel, so I had to set up in the bedroom for makeup/hair, etc.. and the overhead light/fan was out, so it was dim to get ready, but other than that, it's great!
This property is located in Seagrove Beach in a very pleasant neighborhood on the North side of 30A. The apartment occupies the top floor of a garage behind the owner's house. The large, screened-in porch faces the forest behind the property, so the porch, and in fact the entire apartment, is very private. The property is extremely clean, comfortable and spacious; the bathroom is well-stocked with nice toiletries, and features a very large shower.
The kitchen is very well-equipped with quality appliances, there is a large flat-screen television, and the bed in the single bedroom is extremely comfortable. The owner provides beach chairs and 2 (I think) bicycles for guest use. As well as use of the pool and hot tub adjacent to his home, however I used neither.
The owner was very responsive, and when I left an important item upon departing, he very considerately called me in short order so I could retrieve it.
I've stayed at many locations along the entire length of 30A, and this property was as clean and comfortable as any. Highly recommended, especially for a couple.
From the moment you walk in the door and receive a welcome snack, you'll feel like you're at home. The bedroom is spacious and the glass shower is huge! This is the perfect romantic getaway. The carriage house is surrounded by untouched forest, so you can eat breakfast out on the balcony with only the sounds of nature around you. There are beach chairs that you can comfortably wear on your back as you ride the bicycles the short few blocks to the beach. After the beach, you can come home, swim in the pool, and cook some steaks on the outdoor grill. You can bring DVDs and watch them in the comfortable living room. At night, you can relax in the hot tub under the stars. Within biking distance is the little town of Seaside (where _The Truman Show_ was filmed). It's got many quaint restaurants, shops, art galleries, and even a theater where you can see a play. Jack (the owner of the carriage house) is very kind and helpful if you have any questions about where to eat or fun things to do in the area. If you stay here once, you'll want to keep coming back each year!
Leaving the winter chill behind, we journeyed to the beautiful beaches of Seaside. The carriage house was like being home! The carriage house is aptly named--it is a house! With a beautiful kitchen and all the amenities, you come home to some blueberries, chocolates and a bottle of wine! One cannot help but feel at home. The living area is large, with a table and chair as well as a desk, besides the comfy couch and fun swivel chair. There are books to read and cable TV. If you want a movie, bring your own or even ask Jack (the owner) and I am sure he would lend you one. The bedroom is spacious and welcoming and lots of closet space. The bathroom is unbelievably large and the shower can fit four! Not that you would ever have four people in a shower, but it is huge! The porch is the best part as it has a view of the forest and is completely private. The house is far enough off the main drag that you feel you are in your own private paradise....and it is just that! And if that isn't enough, there is the pool and the hot tub and bikes. No need to go rent them, they are here for free to use as you please. Jack makes the package complete as he will be your guide to the best places to go as well as help you out with whatever will make the trip more memorable. We will be back for sure! One could not ask for more when visiting this piece of paradise! What a great vacation home, away from the tourists but close to the beaches and the town. Truly amazing! We are so glad to have found you!
I'm hesitant to write this review because I want to keep this awesome secret for myself!
We've been visiting this area for many years. Because we have the flexibility of not having children, we can go pretty much any time we want - and would not normally choose a holiday weekend (for obvious reasons!). While the roads were jam packed with tourists, we were tucked away in our little natural paradise for the long weekend. You would have never known there were a million people on 30A this past weekend!
Don't let the words "carriage house" deter you from making reservations at Seagroove 2 because you think "carriage house" means small. In this case, it is anything BUT small. In fact, I was wondering how they got all the comforts of a large apartment into the space above the garage: A great sized bedroom - not once did I trip over my bag - with plenty of lighting for reading on either side of the bed. A super cool bathroom with HUGE shower and large vanity area (again --- I didn't trip over anything & had plenty of room to spread my stuff out to get ready). A GREAT kitchen. We like to cook. Had I realized the SIZE of this kitchen and all the amenities (yay for nice wine glasses - always a plus and hardly ever the reality), we would have brought groceries and never left the place. There is a bar with counter stools, plenty of room for watching the chef as you enjoy your wine and cheese. The living room was perfect! We are still in awe of the buildout!
The porch is the kicker to this place. The property backs up to a nature preserve, and it's the most peaceful place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or your morning coffee and a book. We picked the hottest days of the the year to visit last weekend (or so it seemed) and that porch was cool and comfortable after a day on the hot beaches! It's well appointed with chairs and a table.
The bikes were a nice touch too! You're so close to Seaside and the beach - you don't have to get in your car - RIDE!
You would never know that the owners are right there on site except that they take care to provide special touches for your stay and make sure that you have everything you need. Jack is one of the friendliest people I've met, and took the time to introduce himself (and to even call us when we left something behind!) and stressed that he was available if we needed anything for our stay.
If you're looking for the perfect getaway for a few days or a week - book Seagroove 2. You'll love it!
Your hospitality greeted us the moment we arrived and surprised us daily. We loved the little extras you provided to make our stay more welcome. We had lots of fun riding the bicycles and were so appreciative for them. We would like to thank you for all you did and hope to see you again.
With much gratitude,
Teachers from Atlanta
