Overview

Hammondsport Cabin Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, sleeps 10, private woods, lake frontage

Lake Forest Lodge has a breathtaking view of Keuka Lake and is nestled on 3.5 acres of pines and hardwoods. This property has the best of both worlds as it also has lake frontage. The cabin has 3 levels: the main floor has a great room with gas fireplace, cozy eat-in kitchen, and spacious dining room that seats 10 comfortably. These rooms face the lake and boast an amazing view of Keuka Lake. Also located on the main level are 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. The lower level includes a sitting area with full size sleeper sofa, a bedroom, a full bath, and washer and dryer. The third floor open loft has a charming log-framed bed. There are several large decks for relaxation and gathering for meals with family and friends in a private setting. LFL is located on the hillside across the road from the lake, which provides secluded and peaceful surroundings. Note: The lake frontage is accessed by walking or driving down our 'steep' driveway, crossing the road and continuing down the common/steep driveway where we have available 2 parking spaces. Approximately 50 stairs will lead you to the scenic deck and private dock.

Other Activities Around the Area: Enjoy a variety of restaurants on and around the lake or in the charming Village of Hammondsport. Experience the Finger Lake's finest wines along the renowned Keuka Wine Trail. Stroll along the waterfront and square of Hammondsport while enjoying ice cream. Browse through the antique and gift shops. Take a ride to The Windmill Farm & Craft Market or visit the Indian Pines Farmer's Market for homemade pies, pastries, jellies, fruits and veggies. Watkins Glen Raceway and State Park are approximately 30 minutes away. Take the kids go-cart racing, hiking or biking on the local trails. Watercraft rentals are available at the local marinas.

Perfect in Every Way!

  • 5 of 5

Stay here! The pictures do not do this place justice. It is STUNNING. There was plenty of space for our group of 10 and we loved the huge deck to enjoy the amazing view. The interior is magazine -worthy with an authentic log cabin feel that is impeccably decorated. It was the perfect weekend get-away and the owners were a dream to work with. Very responsive, accommodating, helpful and incredibly nice. I am looking forward to returning for many more stays in the future.

Great for a group!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying at the Property! Plenty of room for two families, and easily 3 small ones. Spacious rooms, amazing views, and lots of local stuff to do. We enjoyed going to the wineries, seeing the waterfalls at Letchworth State Park (about 70 minutes away), visiting the Bath Fish Hatchery (great for the kids), fishing from the dock, and renting a boat for the day from Keuka Watersports (south end of the lake). Overall a great place that can accommodate large groups to help keep the individual costs to a minimum.

Not really luxury but just fine.

  • 3 of 5

I'll give you my rundown as it happened chronologically. When pulling up to the house I knew the look to expect and that was indeed what was delivered. A nice log cabin feel to the exterior and an interior that gives the feel of home with a side of cozy to go right along with it.

I'd be remiss not to express my disappointment however in regards to condition of the exterior upon arrival relative to maintenance of this home though. Walking up from the driveway to the front entrance we were greeted with cobwebs nearly in every corner. Additionally, while the outdoor space is grand with plenty of available square footage, the decking and the general condition of the deck was borderline dangerous due to bent boards (trip hazards, etc).

Another head scratcher relative to the term luxurious being used was when I unpacked all my audio visual travel gadgets only to find the main TV in the large living room to be quite old (CRT Technology). In short, I've traveled enough to have thought I had every adaptor needed for this kind of condition but when confronted with a TV that doesn't even have one HDMI connection there wasn't much I could do. I looked for alternative sources like the DVD player, but none to be found. I understand the whole 'unplug' thing, but people travel with kids and in 2016 a decent TV that has at least one HDMI connection can't be too much of a stretch of an investment in this "luxurious" log cabin.

The rooms were spacious and the views were about the only 2 things I can align with luxury here. To list a few non-luxurious items, I will tell you the kitchen is full of late 90's appliances, the carpet in the dining area is worn and dated. The refrigerator did not get cold until 48 hours and the cutting boards had mold I had to bleach off. It appeared to me as if the living room (largest in the house) was where most of the attention was spent in refurbishment, of course with the exception of the TV situation.

With those detractions noted, it wasn't all negative. The location is great, the available kayaks down at the dock were great to have around.

In summary, if you put the word luxurious in your title then at minimum you need to know how to remove cobwebs, replace planters of dead flowers, and possibly make sure you truly are investing dollars back into your appurtenances so that you can align those expectations to the marketing of the home being pushed.

Would I rent here again? Probably not, unless the pricing was adjusted

The perfect retreat with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

This rental exceeded our expectations in every way! Leading up to our week-long rental, I had a number of questions for the property owners. They responded to each question in a very timely manner and always with the most patience and respect. Imagine our surprise to find a bottle of wine as a ‘welcome’ upon arriving to this home! This was such a sweet and unexpected addition to our stay. It started our vacation off on a wonderful note! And… the bottle was from a local winery which we ended up visiting later in the week!

We had two families (4 adults and 5 children) stay there and there was PLENTY of room. As other reviews have noted, the pictures do not do this home justice. The views of the lake from the house are breathtaking! We took full advantage of the kayaks and got some amazing photos of the lake, as well. The home has an incredibly large deck with multiple seating areas. My favorite part of the vacation was enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning quiet watching the sunrise over the lake from the deck. We also had happy hour and snacks overlooking the lake in the evening. Another surprising gem of this house (that isn’t captured in the pictures) is the beautiful little stream that runs alongside the north side of the home- it is beautiful and adds the most relaxing babbling brook sound to the summer nights!

The location of the home gives you the perfect feeling of a retreat, while being located in the heart of the Finger Lakes. The men enjoyed a couple of local breweries, and as a group we explored the wineries that the area has to offer. Inside the house, the owners have equipped the home with everything you could need for a relaxing vacation. They even had a DVD player and some children’s DVDs- my kids were thrilled to enjoy some down time in the evenings with either the DVDs or the games the owners have supplied in the lower level.

The home was clean and very well maintained- it is obvious that there is a lot of heart in this home! The owners couldn’t have been easier or more pleasant to deal with. We will most certainly be back (especially since I ran out of time to complete one of the puzzles they have in the home- next time I will master it!!!)

Spacious, Well Appointed Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was a great location to reconnect with old freinds. Plenty of space both indoors and out with water access. Good location to hit all the Keuka Lake area has to offer. The property was clean and maintained. Kitchen was pretty well equipped for a rental. The owner was easy to work with and accomodating. I would absolutely reccomend this property to others to rent.

Majestic Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to the Lake Forest Lodge was wonderful. I would recommend it for couples or families.

We had a very relaxing stay, enjoying the beautiful trees and the majestic views of Keuka Lake.

The owners have stocked the lodge with information on many of the local attractions. It seems to be located in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country. There are also many parks and museums in the area. I will take advantage of all that on my next stay.

I plan to go back, as the home is beautiful, clean and warmly decorated.

It is the perfect setting for a rejuvenating time away!
