Our extended family of ten spent a glorious week at Fjord House. We hiked, biked, saw whales and the Windjammer parade and thoroughly enjoyed the home on Somes Sound. After a busy day exploring, it was always so nice to come home to the "quiet side" of Acadia!
House is very spacious and the living area is great for family get-togethers. Basement area is a good teen zone. Kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed hanging out at the house, using the dock & kayaks, and walks & runs from the house. It is minutes from Echo Lake Beach, hiking at Mt. Acadia, and groceries at IGA. The scenic loop road and Bar Harbor are only about a 15 minute drive. We would definitely come again.
The best home ever for including the children and grandkids....so many nature things to keep everyone busy 24 hours a day from harvesting low tide mussels, watching the bald eagles fly over the deck, kayak the length of Somes Sound and play with the star fish on the rocks. Enjoyed every meal outside and slept like babies with the silence of the forest right outside our windows. Everyone definitely wants to go back and stay longer....many thanks for sharing your lovely home.
Well appointed home with lots of amenities. Wish I'd brought my binoculars as that was the only thing, besides a boat which I could have rented nearby, that wasn't available in the house. The dock, the sound, the habitat, the view, the porches, the woodstove, kayaks, etc. all well designed for my family's week on MDI next to Acadia. Should have done 2 weeks!
Our family arrived from Colorado, Michigan, Washington and Illinois to enjoy a week together. What a wonderful vacation property hidden in the beautiful Maine countryside. Folks ranging in age from 2 years to 67 years had plenty to do at the home and within a short distance. We hiked, kayaked and had a great time without lots of "tourist drama." Lobster was plentiful and fabulous. Lots of things to do close-by. Loved watching the lobster boats checking traps. The dock was a peaceful place to relax. The deck was a tranquil retreat each and every evening with a fire in the chimnea. Great vacation home!
Beautiful property at which to celebrate my husband's 50th with our extended family. We kayaked, collected mussels (delicious!), hiked the Park trails, biked the Carriage trails and simply enjoyed the decks and views. Plenty of room for all of us to have space and come together. Great location and we loved Southwest Harbor. Owner gave great recommendations for hikes and restaurants
Don't miss Triple Berry Pie!!
