Adobe mud brick thick wall construction keeps the casa cool in summer and warm in winter. A conscious and artful environment are yours to experience at Historic Casa Pajaro.
I grew up in the Midwest and was delighted to find a place to cross-country ski where the winter was sunny and bright and not bitter cold. After moving to Austin, TX., Taos was a welcome relief from the hot summers.
Allison Massey purchased this house in 2006
As some of the early artists who made their way to Taos remarked, it's the incredible light. La Loma Plaza is a very unique location tucked away in town of Taos. The seasons in all have a special beauty.
Most of the gorgeous furniture was hand painted by local artist, Jim Wagner.
the adobe walls keep the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The front portal is a pleasant place to sit outside and enjoy the changing light of the day.
The property is conveniently located near the town center. If we could summarize our overall reelections it would be outdated. The linens bathroom linens are worn and actually spotted from bleach and stiff from being dried so often. The kitchen towels are no better. The bathroom is small and certainly not senior friendly. Their are no grab bars for the shower or the toilet which is not the new standard height. There is no vanity, just a pedestal sink, so their is no counter space. The bathroom mirror is the size of a postage stamp.
Their is no microwave in the kitchen and the coffee maker is a relic. All of the appliances are a minimum of 10 years old. The entrance to each room is not level. The thresholds are different heights and it is easy to trip, especially at night. Fortunately we brought flashlights.
The parking area is narrow which makes it difficult for accessing vehicle doors. The parking area is also blocked by a vehicle which is under a cover. Therefore you cannot pull your vehicle forward and exit the area going forward. You have to back out and be very careful not to hit the Casa patio wall or other obstructions.
The lighting, again is outdated. The lights give the old yellow dark light and are not the bright LED lighting that is available today. The chairs in living room, one wicker and one a narrow wood chair are uncomfortable. The couch and the chairs are low and difficult to get up from. Again, not senior friendly at all.
After a week we drove to Santa Fe and stayed for a week at another Casa which is on the VRBO website. The weeks rent was identical to this property. It was a delight. All updated appliances, bright and airy, well and tastefully decorated. The lines were of high quality, plenty of storage and comfortable furniture. It was senior friendly and everything was first class.
This property is overpriced and needs to be completely updated.

Everything you need and some very thoughtful touches in this charming and delightful casa decorated by Jim Wagner. Clean and welcoming. Close to everything, an easy walk to the Plaza and all the galleries and museums, yet private and quiet.
I throughly enjoyed my stay and wanted for nothing. I would return in a heartbeat.
we had a great time relaxing on the porch each morning and evening. everything was tidy and clean upon arrival and just as described. the location to the plaza was good as well.
We had a wonderful weekend and would love to
stay there again!
Stayed for 4 days in this unique, comfortable, historic adobe home. The inside is a work of art...really, painted by a local artist. The bed is comfortable. Located on an historic plaza, the house is in a quiet neighborhood, has convenient parking, with a walled-in patio area secured by a charming wooden gate. The Taos plaza and restaurants are only minutes away.
Will stay here again.
You just don't find places this cute often! The pictures are very realistic. It's a super easy walk to the Plaza, is quiet and well equipped. (A microwave really isn't necessary when you get so relaxed!) Plus great beds and pillows!
We loved it.
