Why Ken Boyd chose Coastal North Carolina

I have been coming here since I was a little boy so Emerald Isle has always been close to my heart. I have lots of fond memories and are building new memories with our grandchildren.

On the positive side, the kitchen was well stocked, the deck was a safe place for the two toddlers to play, the outside shower was wonderful. The home was pretty much exactly as advertised. The price was good and a good value for the money.

On the negative side for us was the location. The house is right next to the main road on Emerald Isle and the traffic was noisy and constant. Inside with the air conditioning it wasn't a problem, but, although the screen porch was very nice, the traffic noise made it unpleasant to sit outside. The house was also farther away from the ocean than we wanted. Lots of puzzles and a few breakables. We had to go through and try and get things out of the reach of little hands.

Excellent stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd year in a row staying at Hang Ten and we plan to keep coming back every summer. Can't think of anything but great things to say. House and location were perfect for our family of 6 (2 young girls, 2 teenage boys). Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Perfect House for 6

  • 5 of 5

This house was wonderful for 6 people. Everything in the house was meant for 6 we felt like.....6 seats on the couches, 6 around the dining room table, 6 beach chairs, 6 chairs on the deck. It was meant to be! Very cozy, comfortable. We felt that the location on Emerald Isle was the best (center of Emerald Isle) so not a far drive to anything, just a 5 minute walk to the beach. Ken the owner was just wonderful, I had lots of questions and had sent him many emails and he always responded right away and was so helpful. The house was stocked well with kitchen supplies that we needed and a few extra things left behind that we didn't think they would have. There were 6 of us friends that went (all girls) celebrating our 30th birthday and the house worked out so well and we loved Emerald Isle. Make sure to visit the Sweet Spot for ice cream & salt water taffy & Kathryn's Bistor & Martini Bar for a nice dinner - both were amazing and totally worth every penny. I would recommend this house & Emerald Isle to anyone! Thanks Ken for making our stay wonderful.

Thanks to Ken & Co. for having us at Hang Ten...It was everything they advertised and more. The house was very clean, comfortable and somewhat secluded even. The house was very well stocked with all of the necessities and much more. It's a short 3 to 4 minute walk to the beach with very easy access. My wife and I and our twin 14 yo girls spent a lot of time at the beach swimming, boogie boarding, fishing and just plain relaxing! Using the beach wagon provided by Hang Ten made for an easy trip for all of our gear too. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and other attractions within a 4 or 5 minute drive as well. We also enjoyed quiet evening time on the spacious deck that was within earshot of the waves. We rented bikes from a local shop for our daughters and they were able to put on some miles on a nearby bike path, nice, smooth, flat...easy riding!! We would have no problem at all recommending Hang Ten to our friends or family. Emerald Isle comes by its name honestly, because the colors of the ocean were awesome. Hope to visit again soon! Thanks Again!!

Best house so far

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have been going to Emerald Isle since we met in 2002, and this was the cleanest and most comfortable place we have stayed. Felt like home.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Hang Ten was definitely a great place! The owner was more than kind. The house was exactly what we needed for our 3 teenagers and ourselves. It was wonderful having the gas grill which we used almost daily! The walk to the beach was short and easy thanks to the cart to carry all our things. We had such a fabulous two weeks it made it hard to leave. Thanks for providing such a wonderful place to hang out at Emerald Isle!
