Mt. St. Helens Exploring Basecamp

  • 4 of 5

This is a cute cabin just off Silver Lake and just off the highway to the Johnston Observatory of Mt. St. Helens. It was the perfect basecamp for us to explore the area. The cabin has everything you need for a get away. The beds in the loft could use replacing as well as the couches in the living room. The rental procedure was very smooth and the owners kept in contact regarding entry to the property, etc. We saw a resident deer and fawn in the afternoon each day. The air smelled so sweet and fresh. A needed change from life in the city.

Great cabin for Mt. St. Helens visit

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was clean and cozy and had good amenities for our weekend stay. We grilled each night to cut down on cleaning & had fun making s'mores over the fire pit. The beds were comfortable with ample blankets. Our kids had fun with the boardgames and Netflix. It was the perfect distance to hike around Mt. St. Helens and close to a market.

Lovely cabin!

  • 4 of 5

Second time visitor to this darling cabin. Plenty of kitchenware, a great fireplace and the beds are comfy! Easy drive to hikes around Helens. One star docked because we didn't have enough TP (had to run out for more) and there were no extra garbage bags and the outside trash was full making clean-up a tad more complicated. But overall this cabin has all you could need for a weekend with friends :)

Owner's Response: We are so sorry for the lack of toilet paper. We usually leave half a dozen rolls, but the cleaners must have missed it this time. We'll make sure that is corrected. Thanks for the return visit, and we hope you'll come back again.

Not for little ones!!

  • 2 of 5

The cabin is rustic, clean and very cozy. I rented it for my son, his wife and 3 little kids, problem with this is the stairs leading up to where the kids would sleep are so steep with no railing it's very dangerous. Adults that have a drink or 4 even more dangerous, had I seen the stairs in the pictures, we would have made other arrangements. Another thing, the huge dog next door, name is Coca, not only barked all night both nights-kept waking everyone, the dog would come up on the porch of the cabin and bark at everyone. I would suggest the owners of the cabin have a conversation with the next door neighbors.

We have yet to receive our deposit back, nobody cooked or hung out other than to sleep so not sure why we haven't seen that back yet either! On a positive, it's the perfect cabin for a couples get away unless you want to access the lake, no lake access.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review, and we apologize for any discomfort with your stay. We are sad to hear it did not live up to your expectations; we love our cabin and take a lot of pride in sharing it with others. VRBO doesn't typically return deposits within 48 hours; in our experience the deposit can take up to 10 days. If you have not received it within 10 business days please contact us. This is the first time we've experienced a complaint about the dog. We will follow up with the neighbors immediately to resolve the situation, as we wouldn't want a dog barking all night either. Sincerely, Alan and Corina
