Special place in Nantucket!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, father inlaw, and I stayed here for a week in July, and absolutely loved this cottage! Such a unique and charming spot, you can tell Valerie and her husband took great pride when creating this special place! Clean and fully equipped with everything you may need..Valerie was also very attentive if we needed anything through out our stay. You will really feel like you are "away from it all," especially with all of the wildlife around! Can't wait to return :)

Charming property for a family

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two small daughters, and I stayed in this cottage last summer, and it was magical. My girls had so much fun exploring the property and discovering all the little gardens Valerie (the owner) so clearly puts her heart and soul into. The grounds feel like a park, it's a real oasis. We found the house to be so private despite there being a main house on the property, and Valerie could not have been more accommodating and helpful with beach and activity ideas, as well as Nantucket history lessons and gardening advice (we brought home a 'new dawn' climbing rose as a trip souvenir at her suggestion). The house is incredibly well kept and clean. The beds and linens were extremely comfortable, and the outdoor shower was absolutely amazing (don't get me wrong, I love my rose plant, but the outdoor shower is what I really wanted to take home haha). All in all, this property is a treasure where many incredible memories were made for our family.

A Magical Cottage in Nantucket

  • 5 of 5

Love, love, LOVE this exquisite Nantucket cottage. I’ve stayed there for four consecutive years and it is a magical place. First off, Valerie, the warm and welcoming owner, takes so much great pride in the cozy, historic cottage and keeps it tended with care. She lives across the yard in the main house but is never intrusive, yet accommodating if you have a question or if she can meet a special need. The cottage is always immaculate when I arrive and the beds are so, so comfortable. Just picture returning from a beautiful day at the beach, refreshing with a rinse in the private outdoor shower, relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine or cocktail, and then firing up the gas grill for a delectable dinner. You can travel light because Valerie has provided every amenity you need for an incredible Nantucket getaway, including WiFi, cable TV, stereo, linens and towels, toiletries, beach chairs and beach towels, plenty of fans, iron and ironing board (which I never use :), washer/dryer in the basement, outdoor dining area, and so much more. The neighborhood is quiet with great streets for walking or jogging if you’re so inclined. It’s only a 10-minute drive to town and five minutes to Sconset. The island has extensive bike paths and a good public bus system to get all over the island but you may want a car if you really want to explore and experience all that Nantucket has to offer. Be sure to book early because so many people love this cottage and, like me, return year after year.

Secluded, Restful and Idyllic

  • 5 of 5

As 2 adults, we relished the remote and peaceful location of the cottage which is on the back end of property located at the end of a cul-de-sac. The cottage was impeccably clean and comfortably furnished. The bathroom access is via the master bedroom which was no problem for 2 of us. We enjoyed the outdoor shower, grill and tranquil setting. Cable tv is provided & wifi is speedy. Val was extremely responsive to requests and encouraged immediate notification of issues (we didn't have any) and I assure would provide quick and effective resolution such as lending a kitchen item for example (the kitchen has the basics). A car is needed, the bus stop is about a 15 minute walk. Overall, a wonderful, clean and quiet place to recharge the batteries.

Such a Charming House!

  • 5 of 5

I can't really improve on the other reviews of this charming, historic cottage. We were visiting my sister and her son on Cape Cod, and decided to go to Nantucket since we had never been there. It was already October--turns out Columbus Day weekend is the LAST weekend for closing up houses for the winter. (Here's a caution: check the car ferry's availability: we had to stay an extra day (hardship, right?!) because it was all booked.) But the owner, Valerie, could not have been more accomodating, a lovely person who lives right next door. Since the house lacks central air, she heated up the large heater to warm up the living room and found heaters for the bedrooms. The house was perfect for us and our sister, but her 6'4" teenage son was a little long for the fold-out bed, but so what, he was only there for two nights. Loved loved loved the house: very romantic. If there is a complaint, it is that walking around the neighborhood is boring (no trails to the beach that I could find without trespassing) so everything is by car. Oh, and that the basement and its stairs lacks ample light if you are doing laundry. By the way, that weekend is the Cranberry it's a great time to visit. Nantucket is hard to get to and expensive, but that's what keeps it so great.

True "Home Away" from home!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for a week in July 2013. We had such a relaxing and wonderful time that upon departing we asked if we could come again in 2014. For us the cottage is an oasis away from the hectic pace of everyday life. The pictures on the site are exactly what the cottage is like. There are deer, rabbits, and birds on the property which is beautifully maintained by Valerie, the owner of this special place. Although the cottage is not "modern" it is not lacking for any of our needs. It is great to have the options of grilling out back, making breakfast in the kitchen, and sitting out on the deck to have a cocktail and bite to eat before heading into town for dinner. The outside shower is fabulous after coming home from the beach! I would recommend this property to close friends and relatives, but not to too many people because I want to be able to visit every year!! The only negative to staying at the cottage is having to leave at the end of the week.
