Our home is in the woodland green belt of Sugarmill Woods which is an unspoilt tranquil Florida paradise located close to the Gulf Coast near the small town of Homosassa Springs. The villa, which is some 2,300 sq ft, has plenty of room to accommodate guests. The property is set in woodland and does not have any direct neighbors as the adjacent lots are both vacant. There is also woodland to the rear of the villa which is south facing and maximizes the amount of sun during the day on the fully screened 28’x15’ solar heated pool and surrounding decking. A large covered lanai ensures ample shade is also available at all times. The villa is located in a quiet area.
The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and there is a large en-suite bathroom with a Jacuzzi jetted bath tub, walk-in shower and a double vanity unit; there is also a walk-in closet. There are two other bedrooms, each with twin beds and ample closet space, and they share a 2nd bathroom which has a bath/overhead shower, toilet and vanity unit.
The large Florida room has HBO cable HDTV, a three seat sofa, a two seat love sofa and two single armchairs. The study/den has a queen-size sofa bed, WiFi internet, a table with desk lamp, and an entertainment unit; all bedrooms and the study/den have cable TVs. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped and there is an adjoining breakfast area with table and chairs for 6. There is a separate dining area, also with a table and 6 chairs, for more formal eating. The utility room has a washer, dryer and a large sink. All linen and towels (including beach towels) are provided.
The Florida room, master bedroom and breakfast area have sliding patio doors to access the lanai. The lanai has ample pool furniture, including a large table for outside dining, and there are two ceiling fans and a separate washroom. A gas barbecue/grill is also provided.
There are numerous quality golf courses within a short driving distance. The attractions in Orlando are some 2 hours away and Tampa can be reached in an hour. There are wildlife parks and nature reserves within a short drive and the local beach at Fort Island, which is 30 minutes away, has barbecue/grill facilities and a fishing pier. Picnic cooler bags and a beach umbrella are provided for days out. An extensive range of information is provided about the surrounding area and areas wider afield.
The minimum rental period is two weeks and is due to the local homeowners association's deed restrictions. Shorter rental periods cannot be accepted. Seasonal rental inquiries (Jan - Mar) will be directed to our local agent.

We looked at numerous areas in Florida and were immediately attracted to Sugarmill Woods as it is spacious, quiet and well laid out with its meandering roads, unlike any other area we had visited. Due to its woodland setting we felt we would be able to relax and fully unwind which has been the case. We chose the property because it had no immediate neighbors. The rear garden is south facing.
We have tried to furnish the property so it feels like home from home, a view expressed by long term renters. We find it easy to relax by the pool or, when very hot, under the covered lanai with its ceiling fans.
the villa is a welcoming retreat for a relaxing holiday .Nothing can be faulted and presentation is of a high standard even to preparing for stormy weather if needed.
Detailed books filled with ideas for trips further a field when one wants to leave the peaceful surroundings and the pool area is very welcome after a trip around the stores .
The villa is well maintained and cared for by Sue and Alan and it shows as soon as one steps through the door.
Thank you for letting us share your perfect Florida Retreat and we hope to return to Sugarmill Woods.
Yet again we have had a wonderful vacation month here. As always, the villa has been exceptional - clean, superbly equipped and comfortable. It is a great base for so many activities and relaxing on the lanai with a sundowner makes the perfect end to a busy day. The weather has been very warm for the time of year, the best we have ever had since we started coming to this part of Florida in the early '90s. Thank you Sue and Alan for letting us enjoy your lovely holiday home once more.
Myself & the wife had the pleasure to holiday here for 3 weeks from may into June & we had a great time. The home is very clean & well equipped, in a desirable neighborhood, with woods to the rear making it very private. There is lots of space for a large family to have a great holiday. Plenty of things to do, fishing, walking, cycling, canoeing, dining outs. I would recommend this home to others & if available in 2016 we will visit again.

Our fourth visit to Sue and Alan's villa and, as always, it has not disappointed. This is now like a home from home for us - so comfortable and well equipped. Despite some inclement weather (4 inches of rain one day!) we had a wonderful time and played lots of golf. In past years we have been nervous of eating at The Freezer in Old Homosassa but only now realise what we have missed. It's very casual with an extremely limited menu but if you want wonderful seafood, this is the place. The steamed shrimp are to die for - you order at the bar and clear your own table but it's all worth it. All in all another great holiday.
This is our third time in Sue and Alan's villa and yet again we have had a great vacation in their superb home. As we (and other people who have reviewed this property) have said previously, it is exceptionally well equipped and maintained, is in a quiet secluded setting, and is a perfect base for so many activities.
We first rented this villa in November 2010 but were unable to book early enough last year and had to stay elsewhere. On our return in 2012 we found it was again everything we could wish for. It is so well maintained that you would not know 2 years had passed. All the equipment, furnishings and decor are still in tip top condition thus making our stay very comfortable.
As usual we have used Sugarmill Woods as a base for lots of golf, including Southern Woods, a mere 5 minutes drive away, which is now open to the public. At Linda Pederson Park just south of Weekiwachee, we came the closest to a manatee one could be without swimming. We could have reached out and touched it.
Overall this holiday home is just superb both as a comfortable, quiet, private spot to spend time relaxing or as a base for activities further afield.
