Deck has a gas grille and patio furniture. You can see three mesas on a clear day. The size of two bedrooms offers the feeling of great space for each person or couple. There is also a small third bedroom with a queen on that respective floor. In addition , there is a loft with a queen and a double futons. Both are comfortable futons. The loft is very popular with children. The upper rental space has two bathrooms. Approximately 2300 sq feet. There is a dining area and a kitchen. Upstairs has an open floor plan . Good size living room. There is one T.V. in the living room upstairs.
There is a lower level apartment of the home, with separate living space with a separate door entrance which is an additional 900 sq. feet. This apt has an open floor plan. This can be rented for an additional price.of $160 per night, a cleaning cost of $145 to clean up after your stay. It is a full apartment with a kitchen , dining area, large bathroom, living room and bedroom. It has a queen bed.
Sleeps two comfortably.
You have the option to either rent the top or both.
The Glorieta Mesa runs directly in front of the windows of the log home. The mesa changes in color as the day progresses and the weather changes. Should you be lucky enough to have a thunderstorm, there is a light show you will always remember. The sunsets and night skies are magnificent. I believe it is one of the most beautiful views in New Mexico.
There is also patio seating on the deck. In June, the wind gusts are 50 or 60. Furniture blows around and can hit windows. So, they are to be pulled to protected side of deck. A gas grille is available for fun outdoor dinners. There is wildlife to be seen. Deer, wild turkeys and a few larger species of wildlife may be seen. The larger wildlife is seldom seen but there are some. (Large coyotes, bears, bobcats, mountain lions, some say wolves) . There is a full service kitchen in both the apartment and also the main upper log home. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods in Santa Fe offer great supply shopping or the Clines Corners (Eldorado) Exit and up the road to the left has a very large and nice shopping area with a coffee bean store, etc. The drinking water is pure and has a wonderful taste. Beds are very comfortable. The log home has a warm, inviting feel. There is a gate at the entrance which can be locked. Pictures do not do the home justice. Very nicely decorated. Teal large Egyptian wool rug in Master bedroom and very nice huge rug in living room area. This log home is very cozy. This home is at 8200 feet in elevation and does not require air conditioning. Breezes are very good the majority of the time. Of course, there is central heat. This is a big place. And the price is fair. It is in a forest and a wide, well taken care of dirt road leads to the home. Those inquiring need to understand that this is not just one motel room. La Quinta rents one small room for $129.00 per night. The owner must pay for cleaning and amenities therefore the price is more than fair. In the Fall and Winter, there are propane and wood costs. In addition to electric, there is Direct T.V. and HughesNet.
Keywords: 2nd Home Vacation Rental. There is a wide dirt road up to the homes in the area. It is decently maintained by the County. Cars, trucks and SUV’s have made it safely to my home. However, in the Winter, I cannot predict snow so it is better to have all wheel or 4 wheel drive. Cables work as well. Log homes in Bew Mexico are in the mountains. I am at 8200 feet in elevation; therefore, logically it is an upward climb to reach me. The views are beautiful. It is up to the renters to discern their vechicles’ capablies. As I said this log home is the best of two experiences . It is located in a wilderness atmosphere yet 33 miles from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Not far in my opinion and experience. Takes me 12 minutes to get down the mountain. But, I know the road well. My recommendation is that you arrive here before dark. Because imagination on the forest road can make some people uneasy. In the light, it isn’t scary at all. The road curves and climbs in some places. I live here alone with all that comes with it and I have never been intimidated with the road. Beautiful place and views. It has been very popular with large families. Check weather projections before you come. If snow is coming, your vehicle should handle that. Otherwise and during all other seasons, regular cars have done very well here. I have had Mercedes and Lexus models here. German and Austrian cars are built for the mountains. County maintains the roads. Dirt road is wide and decently maintained. And as I stated before, there are other log homes up here and a few ranches.

My late husband, age 53 died unexpectedly in 2009. We built this log home to be our retirement home. Initially, we were going to build a small log home but this turned out to be 4300 square feet, 3300 sq. ft. in use. It is quite beautiful. In 2012 moved to New Mexico permanently. I have decided to rent this log home as a vacation rental and know all who rent it will be taken with the area and all it has to offer. And the view will amaze you. I believe it is one of the most beautiful views in New Mexico.
Nikki purchased this Cabin in 1996
Why Nikki chose Pecos
We built this home in this location because it is 45 minutes to Santa Fe, New Mexico but gives an illusion of being secluded. The area is adjacent to a National Park and the views are spectacular.
What makes this Cabin unique
We back up to a National Forest and Pecos, New Mexico is an amazing town with quite a few celebrities living in the town. It even has a medical clinic along with a few decent restaurants. It is a hikers paradise. And for those who love shopping, eating and art, Santa Fe is just down the road. Once you come down the mountain and spend 20 to 25 minutes driving out from Pecos to the main highway, you are 20 to 25 minutes from Santa Fe. So you have the best of both worlds, you have the feel of privacy and total relaxation and yet have the nearness of a city for many events and great restaurants. Friends of mine have said that they love just being up at the log home reading and taking in the beautiful sunsets and beautiful star filled nights.

Beautiful & Peaceful
My family and I were traveling from Sedona, AZ back to Kansas, and decided to spend a couple of day in Santa Fe. This cabin was by far the best place we have had the opportunity to visit in the mountains. The cabin was extremely clean, and it was stocked with everthing that we needed. The outside view were even more enjoyable, so peaceful. I have never seen so many hummingbirds, in one place, it was a joy to watch them. Nikki was so helpful, showing us around the place. We felt at home, and hope to go back soon.
This is a truly lovely family. I am fortunate to have met them.
Gorgeous views and beautiful home. Very clean and cozy. Hope to stay again!
Amazing log home, great views!!
Its a beautiful cabin, very spacious and amazing views, Nikki is a very nice person, we recomend this log home, we had a great time even tho we didn’t enjoy any snow, the ski parks are amazing too, we visited Santa Fe ski park and Taos Ski Valley, we are planning to go back soon!!
It was absolutely amazing!
The cabin was clean, comfortable and absolutely gorgeous. The view was beautiful. The owner is very sweet.
Perfect Mountain Getaway
I usually do not write reviews. But, this log cabin is worth telling everyone about. We had our wedding at the cabin, and had 10 family members stay 2 nights. The views are amazing, sounds are amazing up there with all the different birds (including many hummingbirds).
The cabin is as nice as the pictures show. Kitchen area is very large, which was perfect for us to feed 20 guests at our wedding. Has the modern comforts like Satellite TV and Internet, but has a large deck to just sit and relax. The owner was so very helpful with everything, helping us with all the details and always answered any questions we had. We plan on coming back for our wedding anniversary, that is how much we enjoyed it and recommend it.
Amazing property with stunning views!!
It would be hard to beat the location of this home, it is away enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature and has stunning views, but it is an easy drive into Sante Fe. The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The loft area is great for kids and our family really enjoyed the large deck area. Nikki (owner) was so kind and helpful. We will definitely stay again!
Hiking tours can be arranged. We are near the Pecos National Forest. We are 45 minutes (33 miles) from Santa Fe, New Mexico which offers amazing restaurants, galleries, festivals, spas, nightlife and shopping. Also near Santa Fe is the art center and unique town of Madrid close to Santa Fe exit off I -25.
