Nestled in the hills of scenic Carmel Valley, lies the historic Holman Ranch. Built in 1928 as one of the first resorts of the area, Holman Ranch has been completely restored over the past 3 1/2 years. Complete with vineyards and horses, Holman Ranch is a true working ranch.
Our property is very unique and set up like a guest ranch. The 10 bedrooms are contained in 3 buildings built in 1940s and recently remodeled in 2009. 8 of the rooms are designed as hotel rooms with a separate entrance and en-suite bathroom. There is also a 2 bedroom, 2 bath house on the property complete with a kitchen and living room. Catering can be arranged for and there are plenty of restaurants in nearby Carmel Valley Village.
Enjoy peace and quiet, while surrounded by modern amenities. Sip margaritas by the pool while you bask in the Carmel Valley sun. Revive your sense of adventure with a private trail ride through our vineyards or a skeet shooting adventure. Have movie night in our game room or challenge family and friends to a friendly game of billiards, darts or horseshoes. We specialize in special events like weddings, corporate retreats, teambuilding and family reunions. We are happy to customize a package to meet your specific needs.
Like many early CA estates, the rustic and natural beauty is accentuated by a grand estate on the hillside. Holman Ranch is a rustically elegant oasis complete with all the modern amenities one would expect from a private estate rental.
We are a 400 acre ranch that has been recently restored and offers all the high end amenities that your guests would expect. We have cable television, wireless internet, phones with voicemail, full housekeeping, continental plus breakfast served every morning, swimming pool and fitness center.
The 10 guest rooms were restored in 2009 and 2012 and are part of the original guest ranch addition in the 1940s. Celebrities like Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable and Joan Crawford stayed in them back in their heyday. We do have an ADA accessible room as well, should it be needed. In addition, the house also has a handsome Game Room, high-tech Conference Room, stately Great Room, horseshoe pit, bocce ball court and many other amenities.
In addition to our lodging, we also offer special event packages for your wedding, corporate event or any celebration. We look forward to hosting you soon. At Holman Ranch, the past is always present.
Holman Ranch is also proud to be one of Carmel Valley's premier bottlers of Estate Grown Wines and Olive Oil. Located at the northern most end of the Carmel Valley Appellation, our ranch resides approximately 12 miles inland from the Pacific Coast. Our wine varietals are unfined and unfiltered to protect the true varietal of the grape from harvest to bottle. We grow on approximately 19 acres of undulating terrain. Our 'Tuscan' Olive Trees produce a savory oil, with a hint of spice which is perfect for dipping, on salads or in any of your favorite recipes. Wine and Olive Oil Tastings are available 7 days a week. Please visit our website or call for more details.

My name is Hunter. My parents purchased this property and I run the special events department at this historic, newly restored Hacienda. We hope you'll come visit us soon!
The Owner purchased this estate in 2006
For anyone who has visited Carmel Valley, they know why one would buy a vacation rental in this area. The weather is phenomenal, almost always sunny and 10-15 degrees warmer than our coastal cousins. We rarely get the fog in Carmel Valley, making it the perfect retreat for those that still want to enjoy the amenities of the Monterey Peninsula and lounge in the sun at the same time.
We are an historic 392 acre ranch. We have horses, cattle, vineyards and olive orchards. Although we keep our agricultural traditions alive, we have fully restored this 1928 Hacienda back to its original grandeur. Now guests can enjoy a trip back in time, complete with all the modern amenities.
From the moment you drive through the gates of Holman Ranch, you have entered a world apart, and a simpler, more gracious century. Reminders of the ranches' historic roots as an escape for Hollywood dignitaries await at every turn as you wend your way to the gorgeous stone hacienda, hewn from Carmel stone and roofed with handmade terracotta tile. Horses swish their tails in the comfort of their stalls, no longer called upon to haul carriages of guests up the hill to the gardens and lawn overlooking the Carmel Valley wilderness to the south and west. Behind you, towering golden hills rise up to catch the sun, now laced with vineyards and estates. Hillsides are browsed by cattle in the tall grass, and hawks patrol the azure skies. All around you, the Holman estate vineyards ring the native, drought-resistant plantings that form a floral boundary to the event site, anchored by a set of steps that create the perfect platform for a wedding ceremony. Roses abound and tall white poppies create a joyous accompaniment to the lavender-scented breezes that rustle the ancient oak trees. Play bocce on the lawn, or sit on the porch of one of the 10 well equipped, western-themed lodging units that beckon you to relax and enjoy the tranquil setting. In room spa treatments are available, as are custom activities like horseback trail riding, skeet shooting, falconing and archery. There's a gorgeous old pool and fitness center, and you can hike through the vineyards and hills to your heart's content.
All the romantic cowboy era furnishings and decor are in keeping with the old rancho theme of Holman Ranch, and encourage restful reflection. Time seems to stand still here in the land of blonde grass and wizened old oaks: it looks much the same as it did in the 19th century when the 400 acre property was secularized as part of Mexican land grants. You can't help but feeling a connection to history as you sit out under the sumptuous stars, listening to the chorus of tree frogs while you roast marshmallows in the horseshoe-topped fire pit to make s'mores. You'll sleep deeply in the lush linens, while you dream of another time and place. And thankfully, when you awake, you will still be there, watching the sun crest over the same ancient fog-touched hills as it has done for centuries.
We are 4 "old guys" who embarked on some special "bucket list" trips a couple of years ago. We've been to Scotland to play golf. We've sailed around the Grenadine Islands. This year we decided to take in Yosemite, drive Highway 1 along the coast, and play golf on Monterey Peninsula. Our "midway" stop at Holman Ranch was as memorable as our stay at the Rusack's Hotel in St. Andrews and our Pitons mooring in St. Lucia. For us Holman Ranch was the perfect blending of hospitality, comfortable accommodations, panoramic views, and convenient location.
Holman Ranch was ideal for a corporate retreat, the accomodations, the facility, the view, the people and Nick the caterer were all perfect! We relaxed had fun and got all our work done. I would highly recommend it and we will be back. Thanks
Perfect venue for executive team offsite meeting. The meeting facility was perfect for a small group (8) and the casual time amenities (fitness room, billiards table, projection TV with sports channel, card table and comfortable chairs) were great also. Hunter and Nick Lowder were very accomodating as was their staff. The guest rooms were comfortable with very nice kohler fixtured bathrooms. Beds were adequate but the only area that fell short of expectations. catering support was excellent as well and very flexible.
Wills Fargo restaurant just down the road was excellent from casual atmosphere to friendly service to great food and wine. The 30 minute drive to Spanish Bay/Pebble Beach was well worth it. Dined at Peppoli at Inn at Spanish Bay which was also incredible from service, hand crafted italian food and italian wine perspective. Sitting outside around the fire pits watching sunset and listening to bagpiper was great start to the eveing there. Did a one day Formula Mazda corporate program at Laguna Seca with the Skip Barber school. A special experience for anyone who ever participates. This is an experience that does not know gender, age or driving experience. The instructors make it fun and exciting for everyone, male, female, timid, aggressive. Laguna Seca is one of the most famous tracks in the world and one of the professional drivers 10 favorite as well. To drive it for a day is an experience nobody forgets. Would recommend Holman Ranch to any group of 8 so you can "own" the facility. We did our own shopping for snackks, mixers and alcohol which was easily accomplished within 10 miles of the ranch. If you want your grooup to be together and have fun being together Holman Ranch should be at the top of your list.
We choose Holman Ranch as the site of our wedding ceremony and reception and could not have made a better decision. From our very first meeting with Hunter and her staff, we were met with warmth, professionalism and excellent service. The entire process was a pleasure and the event and our stay at the Ranch was seamless. The staff was friendly, accommodating and very knowledgable, providing valuable direction and advice. Our guests were awed by the beauty of the ranch property and surrounding landscape and our wedding party, who stayed with us at the Ranch for three nights, enjoyed the historic and warm atmosphere of ranch living, while also appreciating the modern comforts of the accommodations. Thank you Hunter and all Holman Staff for such a memorable and enjoyable experience!
Thank you, Hunter and crew, for hosting our corporate event during the 2010 US Open. Our customers loved the setting - just far enough from the action at Pebble Beach to give us a retreat. The sleeping rooms are attractive and comfortable - we loved the exclusivity of having the entire ranch to ourselves. We used the meeting rooms as well: great A/V setup. The bar/game room was perfect for our after dinner socializing. The grounds are gorgeous - rolling, brown hills, green vines, the tallest poppies I've ever seen. Great place and great service - thank you!
