Watch spectacular sunsets over the water from the rocking chairs on the covered porch of this newly restored, traditional Maine cottage at the mouth of the Damariscotta River. The very private one-acre property features a rolling lawn with Adirondack chairs overlooking 200 feet of waterfront, a boat house, deep water dock, and mooring. Paddle our kayaks to explore nearby coves where you might see seals basking on the rocks, or row our dinghy around the point to buy lobster at the fishermen's co-op.
The house is a short walk from South Bristol’s bridge, the general store, and the harbor of this picturesque lobstering village. Christmas Cove, one of Maine’s most beautiful yacht harbors with a waterfront restaurant and live music, is a mile walk past fields of lupine and water vistas.
The lovely town of Damariscotta, with supermarkets, galleries, shops, and excellent restaurants, is 15 minutes away and Portland airport is 90 minutes away.
The first floor of the 2,500 square foot house has a living room with wood-burning fireplace, library with hundreds of books, dining room, and gourmet kitchen – all with water views. A first floor bedroom has twin beds and its own bath. The second floor has a large master bedroom with private bath and a rooftop deck overlooking the water, a second bedroom with private bath and water views on two sides, and an office/study. The house has wireless high-speed internet and a printer. The boathouse has a deck over the water.
Another year and another successful family gathering at 6 Breezy Lane. The cottage provides our family a perfect Maine vacation with everything from the boathouse deck for beverages at sunset to the long (3 minute) daily walk for warm muffins and papers at the Island Store. The accomodations and the wonderful touches show how much the owners' care about this home. Located near everything yet spacious and private....Maine, the Way Life Is.
We stayed in this remodeled home the week of August 7th, 2010. We were extremely pleased with our decision. The home is virtually brand new and has really comfortable bedrooms and living spaces. We have two pre-teen boys and they thoroughly enjoyed the two single kayaks provided. What was really nice is the home's dock sits at the opening of a very protected small cove, so our boys could kayak in safety away from heavy boat traffic and currents of the bigger main channel. The house has a well stocked kitchen that any gourmet chef would appreciate. The library has a wide selection of books and board games. The new large flat screen TV was a hit with the boys along with the provided children's DVD s. The South Bristol area is extremely quiet and off the beaten path. We will definitely will return.
My family spent a week at this cottage in Aug 2010. We could not have asked for a better experience. The home has been exceedingly well updated and was comfortable both for living and entertaining. The yard and waterfront were a virtual playground for our children. Additionally, the owner was responsive, professional, and a pleasure to deal with. We hope to be able to return for years to come.
Our family spent a wonderful week relaxing and soaking up the ambiance of the Maine coast at this lovely and welcoming home. The updated and comfortable decor reflects the flavor of the local area, and invites guests to sit back either inside or out and enjoy the fantastic water view. The home has just been remodeled, and the project was clearly a labor of love. The furnishings and amenities are in tip top shape. The spacious grounds were great for burning off our two smaller family members' energy, and we enjoyed being able to set off from our private dock on the kayaks and dingy provided. We were visiting friends who have a home in nearby Christmas Cove; they, too, were impressed by the location and quality of the home. We appreciated the owners' hospitality in making their Maine home available to us! We will definitely be back!
South Bristol is a small village about 12 miles from Damariscotta, a larger town with full services.
