Our Newport home is a quaint, inviting and relaxing retreat. It is situated in the perfect location for visitors looking to experience all that Newport has to offer. One end of the block empties onto historic Thames Street with its restaurants, bars, shops, and galleries. The other end leads you to the renowned Newport mansions in all their grandeur. A short walk takes you to the famous Cliff Walk path, and a few minutes drive brings you to gorgeous sand beaches. In addition, summers in Newport will entice you with numerous events, activities, and options that will keep you as busy as you want to be. Even with all of the choices, one of our favorite places is the front porch on a beautiful summer morning with a cup of coffee or in the evening with a bottle of wine. If you want to experience summer in New England, this quintessential Newport cottage is the place to start.
Six of us recently stayed here during Folk Fest and Jazz Fest weekends and the middle week. The house is clean, up to date and in a great location. The owners are great to deal with, and the neighbors on the block fun and laid back. In short, will be staying here again!
Nothing forgotten. House doesn't have that rental feel. Super cozy. Well equipped. Comfortable beds. Would stay here again in a heart beat if I ever stay in Newport again.
The house was just what we wanted and everything we needed. Spent lots of time at the beach and around town. Mornings and evenings on the porch were exceptional.
I really cannot say enough good things about this rental home. We spent five nights here from June 17-21, 2012 and it was everything we needed it to be, with easy access to Newport's downtown area, mansions and beaches. The property has an enclosed back yard, the neighbors are nice, and the interior amenities make it just like home. The house was clean as a whistle when we arrived and the hosts seemingly thought of everything that we -- and our children -- might need to further enjoy our stay. The owners were super easy to work with and were very kind. It was a pleasure to rent this home from them, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wishing to enjoy a relaxing stay in beautiful Newport.
My husband and I recently rented this home for a fabulous week-long vacation in Newport. Melissa was great to deal with through every step of the process. She is friendly, professional, and has excellent knowledge of the Newport area as well as what people need in a vacation home. The house was immaculate and bright, and the fenced-in yard was well maintained. We had more than enough room for two adults, three 17-year-old boys, and two pugs. Melissa thought of everything, from toiletries to condiments and spices to games and books. We especially loved having a gas grill so we could eat dinner at home a couple of times, and the washer and dryer (with laundry soap) were a blessing. The location cannot be beat! It is close enough to walk to the grocery store for fresh rolls and fruit in the morning and close enough to walk downtown for dinner without the hassle of driving and parking, yet the street is remarkably quiet. We prefer Second Beach, which is only a short five minute drive from the house, but my husband and I did walk down to First Beach and the Cliff Walk a couple of times in the early morning. We have been to Newport several times and always stayed in a hotel, but after staying at Jay and Melissa's home, we wouldn't stay anywhere else again! We are already counting down the days until next year's trip!
We just got back from a week in Newport at the WONDERFUL house! It was a great place to come back to at the end of a long day! We had 3 adults and an 8 month old-thank goodness we had this wonderful house to relax in all week. It's the perfect place for a family to use as a home base while exploring Newport! We are already talking about coming back next year! Thank you Melissa and Jay for such a wonderful week!
