We are located in the heart of the Flambeau River State Forest. The Flambeau River State Forest offers a variety of recreational opportunities during all seasons for the outdoor enthusiast. This rustic cabin has a functional floor plan with its fully equipped kitchen and split log kitchen table. The living room is anchored by a full-wall, stone, wood burning fireplace and is flush with light filtered through the antique windows.
The three bedrooms are all roughly the same size and are furnished with twin beds & dressers with one having a bunk bed set in it. Bedroom #1 can be converted from a twin to king bed. The cabin can host up to nine people by utilizing the full size sofa sleeper. Each room’s central LP heat vent can be individually controlled. There are no enclosed closets in the bedrooms but rather a suspended, hard closet rod upon which to hang street clothes or heavy, wet hunting/fishing gear so that it dries. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination. The enclosed entryway covers wood for the fireplace and has shelf space for coolers and other equipment. Enjoy your morning coffee on the back deck as you view Long Creek.
Long Creek runs along the backside of the cabin and gives you access to the North Fork Flambeau River. We are also located on Snowmobile/ATV trail #25 next to business #1. So no need to trailer just get up and go.
There is an outdoor dog kennel available to use.

We love living in the Northwoods and all it has to offer. We are very avid outdoors people who truly enjoy hunting, fishing, kayaking, campfires, and living on the river. We live everyday where most people come to vacation. We have three children that keep us on our toes.
Josh & Kaisa Schuelke purchased this cabin in 2014
We both grew up in the Northern Wisconsin area. We bought the cabin in 2014 when the former owner offered it to us. We like the location in the heart of the Flambeau River State Forest and close to our home. This cabin has such a unique rustic quality and a great story of how it came to be where it is.
~HUNTING~ The area has some of the best grouse, woodcock and whitetail habitat in the country. Regardless of what you are after, with 90,000+ acres at your disposal, yours days afield will be filled with adventure.
~FLAMBEAU RIVER & BASS LAKE~ The Flambeau River consists of the N. & S. forks which contain Class I-IV rapids for advanced canoers and kayakers and also have placid stretches for those looking for an easy float. There are campsites located on both forks and shuttle service is available at Big Bear Recreational Rentals located next door. Bass Lake, located deep in the forest off Tower Rd. (get directions from the Forest Office) is a non-motorized wilderness lake awaiting your fishing or floating enjoyment. There is parking and a groomed trail to the lake to carry in your gear. Pack a picnic lunch and eat near the launch at the base of a large hemlock grove.
~CHIPPEWA FLOWAGE, CONNORS LAKE AND LAKE OF THE PINES~ The nearest launch for the 'Big Chip' as it is know, is just north of Hwy 70 on Cty Rd. CC north of New Post, WI. This flowage, known for record muskies, is largely undeveloped and loaded with numerous islands so bring a map. Pack lunch and pull up on any of the 140 islands for your own private break in the fishing action. Connors Lake is known for walleye and has great sand beach & playground which is within walking distance of the boat launch which is great for children. More developed than Lake of the Pines, it's crystal clear. Lake of the Pines, known for good pan fishing, also has a beach (at the campground) and a launch.
~Hunting/Fishing~ licenses can be purchased at The Flambeau River Office, across the street from the cabin. Bait can be purchased in Winter or Phillips.
~ATV's/SNOWMOBILING/ SKIING~ The cabin is located on trail #25 next to business #1. The forest contains mile and miles of trails for all types of activities with maps for each available at the Forest Office, across the street from the cabin.
We had a great time enjoying the north woods! The cabin was perfect with a nice location to UTV/ATV trails and having the restaurant in walking distance was very convenient. Thank you for the outstanding accommodation!
It was a fun vintage cabin in the Northwoods. Everything worked and it had the amenities we expected. It was ready early so we were able to arrive sooner than 4pm. The cabin was filled with mounts so there was a lot of conversation pieces. It was raining so we were unable to canoe. Overall fun weekend!
Family Trip to visit my Uncle who lives in the area. My 18-22 Y.O. Kids pointed out how terrible cell service, text, and phone internet where, a plus to me. The cabin was very roomy and comfortable for the $ spent vs other area options. However, it is a guys hunting/ fishing cabin basicly.
The cabin was as described and the whole process so easy!
My wife and I have been staying here for years. Located within walking distance of one of two restaurants, river access and the DNR office, we have all we need after a day on the river. The accommodations are clean and well maintained. Complete with full kitchen, three bedrooms, full bath, and living room with a large fireplace, perfect for those cold rainy days. The owners are very welcoming and eager to to make your stay a memorable one. This has been a perfect fit for our grouse hunts, Muskie fishing, or kayak trips down the river. Great people
Overall the cabin was amazing. Everything we were looking for and expecting for the cabin, surrounding buildings were a little bit of a disappointment. Which wasn't much of an issue but just wasn't what we'er expecting. Owners are very nice and close for assistance but not intrusive.

- Not right off the river
