|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
The cabin is located on a quiet private road and provides access for kayak launching. A canoe is available to explore Long Cove. There is a queen bed downstairs and a double bed up. Your dog will enjoy the fenced in area directly off the porch while you have morning coffee and listen to the lobster boats. The Monhegan ferry, museums, art galleries and restaurants are nearby. This is Maine at its finest!!
My wife and I and have stayed in numerous vacation rental properties in various locations around the country and the "Cabin on States Point Road" is probably the most well equipped home that we have experienced. Simply put, everything is provided for a great vacation. The kitchen has every type of dish, glassware, gadget, and pot that you can imagine. There's a full size stove, fridge and microwave and even a dishwasher...a rare find. The wireless Wi-Fi was very reliable. The satellite TV enabled us to keep up with the world and for those who want more, there's a fairly extensive list of channels...unlike many vacation rental properties with "bare bones" cable. We were able to hook up our Roku device and watch movies streamed flawlessly. There are no annoying cleaning or pet charges...just a straight forward rental fee with no hidden add-ons. The private setting is ideal for relaxing and "getting away from it all". Yet, the location is readily accessible to the many attractions of mid-coastal Maine. Our dog had a great time, too. I discovered that a walk down to Rte 131 and on to the end of States Point Rd then back to the cabin was exactly 2.0 miles. Border Collie Jesse and I enjoyed our daily walks. As a member of a YMCA in Connecticut, I was able to use the Y in Rockland with no fee. It's an easy 12.5 mi ride from the Cabin. Running on the treadmill with the harbor right in front of me, no doubt, provided additional motivation. All in all, if you're heading to mid-coast Maine, be sure to give this vacation rental property serious consideration.
I have never written a review of a vacation rental before but was so happy with this cabin that I really wanted to get the word out there! We have stayed in many rentals including a number of VRBO places but Tracy and Chris' cabin is by far the best rental experience we have ever had. From the minute we inquired about the availability they could not have been more responsive or more helpful in providing us information about the area as well as the cabin itself. The cabin itself was in immaculate condition when we arrived and had absolutely everything we needed down to the smallest detail. It is adorable and while it is small we had more than enough space due to how well it is laid out. We spent hours on the wonderful porch. It was the first time we brought our dog on vacation and it was a perfect spot for him. I was a little worried that a "pet friendly" cabin might be full of pet hair and a little shabby but like I said you would never have known this was a pet friendly cabin. It was immaculately clean and cozy. Tracy and Chris had prepared an information packet like I've never seen. I would not have needed to bring a single guide book (and actually didn't bother to refer to the ones I had brought since their info was so much better than what was provided in the books!).
It is a lovely part of Maine with so much to do. We loved staying in Tenants Harbor. We did many outings (hiking in the Camden Hills and Ragged Mountain), biking, Monhegan Island, touring a lot of local towns including Camden/Rockland/Rockport/Belfast but we were always so happy to come home at the end of the day to the peace and quiet of this lovely cabin. We can't wait to come back.
I highly recommend this beautiful little log home for a great vacation getaway! We so enjoyed being this close to the shore and the owners, Tracy & Chris, were fabulous. They are very accommodating and the cabin is equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable, right down to a lobster pot! There is a local lobsterman who lives and sells lobsters right across the dirt road, and oh, does he have some amusing stories to tell:D
What's nice about this location is you have great privacy and peace if you choose to stay in; or you can choose to go out and enjoy so many of the local area attractions. We were here for over a week and could of stayed another just to sight-see and finish visiting all the popular hot spots. The cabin was spotless and we were allowed to bring our family dog and he so loved the front porch with the attached fenced in yard.
If you stay, I recommend taking a lighthouse cruise from on the Monhegan Boat Line out of Port Clyde. I DON'T recommend the restaurant "The Happy Clam" in Port Clyde (unless you like frozen seafood) lol. Our family will definitely be staying here again, yay!
Canoeing and kayaking, lighthouses, galleries, museums, festivals, agricultural fairs, hiking, and cycling.
