Luxury Lodge Tucked Between Blue River & Mountain Views – A Haven for Families

Once our family decided to buy in Breckenridge, we hit the ground running. We searched for two years to find the perfect year-round lodge close to town but immersed in nature.

A couple of places came close; most just didn’t have everything we were looking for.

Eventually, after a heated family debate, we decided our best option was not to buy our dream lodge after all, but build it.

And so Cold Water Creek Lodge was born – a 5-bedroom family-friendly lodge just 5 miles from Breckenridge.

Building our ideal place gave us (and our guests!) two BIG benefits.

THE BEST PIECE OF LAND IN BRECKENRIDGE

Cold Water Creek Lodge sits on 13 acres of riverfront property caught between stunning views of the Quandary Peak out the front door, and Red Mountain and the Blue River out the back door. Wildlife sightings – elk, beaver, moose, deer – are common. You’ll forget you’re only 5 miles from town.

Here, you can fall asleep to the rush of water over rocks, and wake to morning coffee with a view of the mountain and deer grazing along the riverbank.

You can step out the back door and be ten feet from fly fishing in the river’s cold and pristine waters. Out front door, and you’re in prime hiking territory with Summit County’s best trail – the McCullough Gulch Trail – winding through the property.

We installed two hot-tub and fire-pit areas (in both the front and back of the lodge) for your family’s own private après-ski and full enjoyment of the magnificent scenery through all four seasons.

In winter, seven world-class resorts are within an hour drive. Even better, WE PROVIDE TWO LIFT TICKETS A DAY as part of your stay. (Inquire for more info.)

Warm your ski boots in our boot warmer for toasty toes.

And after you return from the slopes, defrost in the 8-person hot tub with views of snow-capped Quandary Peak. Or duck inside and enjoy the heat from the floor-to-ceiling fireplace in the Great Room.

In fall, the whole scene bursts into yellow as the aspens play out their autumn drama. Light a crackling fire at the fire-pit, gather around the Adirondack chairs and enjoy the crisp Colorado air.

In spring and summer, the mountains present endless activities and deep green vistas.

A FAMILY-FRIENDLY PLACE

Building also meant we could design the house, from the ground up, to be ideal for families. We love hosting multigenerational family reunions or multiple families traveling together.

Kids and dogs find plenty of space to run around, and the private and paved road with few cars keeps them safe (and also means quick, traffic-free trips into town.)

We provide pack-n-play and a high chair, too.

We even gave kids their own section of the house, called the Bunkhouse, with a gameroom where they can decamp together for video games on the LCD flatscreen with Nintendo Wii, movies on Netflix, or a game of air hockey. Add a few mugs of hot chocolate and you’ll have some happy kids.

The attached bunkroom with three bunk beds provide a summer camp setting for telling stories by flashlight past bedtime. They get their own attached bathroom, too, and in the gameroom, there’s also a couch that folds out into a queen bed.

The living areas are open to each other, and cozy for conversation, shared meals, and poker in the adult cardroom. The windows in the Great Room overlook a spectacular view of Quandary Peak.

The kitchen has high-end GE Monogram appliances (including 2 dishwashers!), granite countertops, and heated floors made from reclaimed pine found right here in Summit County. Flip some pancakes and serve them at the granite breakfast bar!

EVERYONE GETS A GREAT BEDROOM

No need to rush to claim the best bedrooms when you arrive. We made them all pretty great. All have their own private, attached bathroom. If you’ve traveled as a group before, you know how essential that is!

We also provide cozy comforters and butter soft sheets and flatscreen TVs in every single room.

BOOK TODAY

We’d love to help make your Breckenridge getaway wonderful, so let us know what we can do.

There is no slow season at Cold Water Creek, thanks to our year-round amenities and activities. We encourage you to book today, using the yellow “Book It” button to the right. Thanks!

Why Mark Ronchetti chose Breckenridge Area

After looking all over Summit County and finding some great locations we settled on the McCullough Gulch Reserve to build our Colorado vacation home. The Blue River is literally ten feet behind the house. The best hikes in Summit county border the property. With 13 acres you can stretch out and get away from it all with Breck just a few miles down the road. As great as many areas around Breck are you will not beat this location or this house. The views are classic stunning Colorado with all the conveniences of being right next to one of the best ski towns in North America.

What makes this house unique

The Cold Water Creek Lodge sits on 13 acres of Blue River frontage just south of Breckenridge. You can be skiing Breckenridge within 5 minutes of leaving the Lodge. Don't want to drive? No problem we are on the bus route right to the ski area. Out the front door of the Lodge you can hike the most stunning trail in Summit County, the McCullough Gulch Trail. This hike features breathtaking waterfalls and high mountain lakes. Out the back door of the Lodge you can fish the Blue River. You will have two miles of river all to yourself.

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 families stay here for the Feast of Tabernacles. What a wonderful location and home. It had everything we needed and then some. The stream out back gives the perfect backdrop for sitting in the hot-tub or sitting around the fire-pit. It's also awesome for opening the windows and listening to the bobbling brook and drifting off to sleep. The house itself is the perfect mix of rustic and luxury. The "kids wing" as we called it was a fantastic little get-away for the young ones. It's basically a big space above the garage with lots of bunk beds, a bathroom and a rec room with a couch, tv, video games and a full size, real deal air hockey table (which got LOTS of use by the kids and adults alike). Mark was very welcoming and accommodating. He was easy to get in touch with regarding any questions we had. Bottom line is if you are have need of a place this size and are considering it, just do it, you can't go wrong. We had a blast.

Beautiful lodge that was perfect for our week in Breckenridge.

  • 5 of 5

Famtastic! Such a beautiful and well laid out vacation rental. We came with 8 adults and 5 children and there was plenty of room for all of us. The bathroom in each bedroom gave each couple plenty of privacy and the kids loved the bunkroom. The kitchen was beyond amazing and almost every night we cooked and ate in. There was not one thing that we needed that was not there. The views from every window were amazing. We had a week that we will never forget. The only negative was not with the lodge but with nature-high mosquito and bee season. A swarm down by creek attacked the kids😢򘠠But we didn't let that stop us from having an awesome time and I would highly recommend staying here. We did not want to leave! Thank you for a great stay Mark.

Lives up to all the previous accolades!

  • 5 of 5

What can I say, Cold Water Creek Lodge exceeded my expectations which were set pretty high based on all previous comments. The location of the lodge beneath Quandary Peak out the front door and viewed from the Great Room and the Blue River out the back door with mountains in the background is just perfect. I love opening the window in the kitchen, which by the way is fully equipped and love the dual dish washers, to listen to the river rushing by. The Ronchetti's really did a phenomenal job in picking the location, and building such an inviting and warm lodge. The only recommendations I would make is upgrading the speakers in the Great Room for the stereo. I am a bit of an audiophile so take that into consideration, but they could be replaced. We also never got the outdoor backyard speakers to work? Not a big deal. The only other negative comment came from one of our guests who slept on the pull out bed in the Game Room and commented that is was very uncomfortable. Otherwise, we had a great time at the lodge, explored the McCullough Gulch trail, fished the Blue, and just had a wonderful time. I know my brother is interested in bringing the family during Winter and has expressed interest in staying at Cold Water Creek as well! Wonderful job you guys and can't wait to return sometime in the future. I highly recommend this lodge!

Colorado Mountain Lodge Luxury Living Set on Blue River and Alpine Peaks

  • 5 of 5

Breckenridge, Colorado has some of the most breathtaking alpine views and peaks anywhere. I just didn't expect it at our home away from home at the Cold Water Creek Lodge. Nestled against the National Forest, this unique very large home (lodge is appropriate) sits on the Blue River just 30 feet off the back porch. The sound of rushing water careening over rocks lulls you into a relaxed state absent the city noises I am use to back in Los Angeles. Looking up from the river in the evening, the sun sets behind you casting a golden glow reflecting off the treeless 14000 foot peaks partly shadowed in the lower elevations. The forest of pines and aspens provide a feeling of seclusion as the closest property is about a quarter mile away without blocking any of the spectacular views. The McCullough Canyon trail is about 200 yards away and leads to cool and dark forested areas with some of the trails running along one of the largest feeder creeks for the Blue River.

When we travel with family and join up with friends, we have usually stayed in hotels or resident inns that have kitchens. We had a larger group planned this trip with family also coming in from Atlanta. We lucked out in nabbing this gorgeous lodge when another group had to cancel due to health reasons. We got a wonderful call from Mark Ronchetti, the owner, who explained the facility features and general information about the area. When I asked about the weather this time of year, he was super knowledgeable about the weather patterns, temperatures, and recommendations for July in Breckridge. Mark Ronchetti has been the Chief Meteorologist for KRQE news 13 and 2 KASA Fox since 2006. You will find this large home that can easily accommodate 16 people to be roomy, with a separate stairs to upstairs quarters for 8 over the garage (2 can use the sofa sleeper in the game room) that is meant for the younger crowd with a large separate game room. The kitchen was fabulous with a very large central island with its own prep sink and unique metal tractor chair adjustable seats that seat around the bar type counter. With two dish washers, two large ovens, and a commercial style gas stove, and all the pots, pans, dishes, glassware and cooking utensils, we had no problems enjoying the cook atmosphere of friends and family. The BBQ outside on the back porch was adequate. There are so many other features we enjoyed about this property, but you will have to book a stay to discover them yourself.

Gorgeous home with a view to match!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Cold Water Creek Lodge. The home was beautiful, from the wood floors to the windows everywhere showing off the view of the mountains. The kitchen was well stocked which was very helpful, and one of the best we have found throughout our rental experiences. We enjoyed the firepits and hot tubs, it was a favorite place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or watching the sunset over the mountains. The Ronchettis were great to deal with, very reliable, helpful and prompt in responding. Would highly recommend anyone looking to come to Breckenridge to stay here! The sound of the creek was also one of my favorite parts of the house. We left our windows open at night to cool the room, and that sound was so peaceful. Beautiful hidden gem!!

Heaven on Earth

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with all of our children and our granddaughter at the Lodge on the Blue River. Words just can't express how accommodating and gorgeous this property was. We really needed nothing to make our stay complete except groceries. The guys went fishing immediately upon arrival, just outside the back of the house on the Blue River. We slept with our windows open every night to feel the cool Colorado air and to hear the river just outside our window. Their were two hot tubs, one in the back and one in the front of the house and both with gorgeous views. The only complaint I really have is that the larger of the two hot tubs wasn't working while we were there (never got hot) and they didn't show up to fix it until we were packing up our car to leave. So we had to limit how many could get in the smaller one to 3 people.

To top off my trip we saw two moose outside the back the house. I think that might the first time I've ever seen one! That was very cool! We took walks up the very private road to the dead end and next to the house there were walking trails with beautiful water falls along the way! It was stunning!!

My whole family loved there trip to Colorado and the house was just exceptional!!

Thank you Mark for making your home so comfortable and homey!
