Great time, great place!!

  • 5 of 5

I've always loved coming to Provincetown before the big summer rush, the weather was nice and the apartment was comfortable. Loved the free Wi-Fi and the parking was a blessing, even cooked a bit on the grill for lunch. All in all it was a fantastic experience, don was a pleasure and always available on the phone. Definitely 5 stars!! Will come again

Always a pleasure

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed here for the past 5 years I cannot say enough good things about this place. The location is perfect, a short walk to the Boatslip, the condo has more than enough room for four people, and is always clean and ready for us when we arrive. Kitchen has everything you need, and the huge deck is perfect for meals outside at the table, a big plus! Don the owner has always been gracious and responsive, and we were fortunate to have met him on our last trip as we were arriving as he was just finishing up some improvements, a genuinely nice person to deal with. We look at it as our Ptown home away from home, the place is cozy with charm and character, as a Ptown home should be.

Parking for two cars is a big plus, which can be a rarity in Ptown. We tend to park and leave our vehicles for the week, or sometimes we drive to the beach, but never an issue getting in or out.

We are so looking forward to arriving again this year!!

Angled Floors, Dirty Bathroom, & Too Much Hassle

  • 1 of 5

My brother and I found this place as an alternative to an expensive B&B. After my initial conversation with Don (owner), the place sounded perfect for our needs, so we decided to book. After a week trying to reach him again, all of a sudden, he added a previously undisclosed cleaning fee! At that point, our other options we had looked at were no longer available so we went ahead and begrudgingly accepted the fee and booked. A few weeks later, I realized that Don had never sent us our final arrival details, or information on where to send the security deposit, so I had to contact him days before our departure to get this information. While he responded quickly via email, I felt that I shouldn’t have had to reach out to him at all to get this info. So I sent off the deposit check and we headed to Provincetown.

The condo itself wasn’t hard to find, and the location was good. Parking, while it technically has two spaces, would be tight if the other floors had guests there as well, as the whole parking area was extremely narrow. But when we walked into the 2nd floor condo, the entire place was on a tilt! The floors were angled, as it felt the entire building was sinking on one side. While not terrible, it was definitely noticeable walking around. As we got settled in, the place was as described, but we were stunned to see how dirty the bathroom was, especially after we were just hit with such a large additional cleaning fee. The tub looked like it hadn’t been cleaned at all, and there was mold on the shower curtains. But the rooms were ok, and fully stocked with sheets, towels, etc, so we made due.

About a week after we left, however, I contacted Don to see when I’d be receiving my security deposit back. He promptly replied saying he’d be mailing it our right away. However, eight weeks after we had left, I had still not received it. I contacted Don again, who gave me a run around. I ended up having to put a stop payment on my check to ensure it wasn’t later cashed since he had clearly lost it. While Don has offered to reimburse me for that fee, I’m not holding my breath.

So at the end of the day, while the place may have been a 2-3 star condo (nothing special but slightly dirty and slanted floors), the hassle from Don with additional fees, chasing down arrival information, and having to deal with a lost deposit check, make this place not worth it. I wouldn’t book it again, nor can I recommend it to others in good conscience.

Owner's Response: To anyone considering renting our condo: The house was built in the eighteenth century and yes, it has a slight slant to the floors. The settling of the structure was corrected years ago and there is no longer an issue, this situation is not uncommon in P-town. You could possibly notice when you first arrive, but after 5 minutes you will become unaware of anything being a bit “off”. There are two dedicated parking spaces, and the parking can be a bit tight when the lot is full. We have never had any complaints about the lot, until now, and, again, parking being a bit tight at times is not uncommon in P-town The tub is not new and was a bit pitted in spots, and the fiberglass surround was a bit worn, but the bathroom, and tub, had certainly been cleaned. We have since re-surfaced the tub, and have had the fiberglass surround replaced with tile, over this Winter.. After receiving the complaint we inspected the condo and did find a small amount of mold around the magnets holding the shower liner to the tub on the drain side. We immediately replaced the liner. We also did add a $ 75 cleaning fee to our late season rentals last Autumn, as we found we were losing money and the alternative would be not renting at all. We did not update Homeaway to that change in a timely manner, we must admit. When I received the call regarding the Security Deposit, approx. 4 weeks after the rental, I Located the undeposited check and mailed it back to the guest. After another approx. 4-5 weeks, I was informed that it had not arrived. I stated that even though I had mailed the check I would pay to place a "stop" it. I asked for the amount it would take to place a “stop” on the check. I was informed in an e-mail after 10 in the evening, on the night before Thanksgiving, and I mailed a money order within 48 hours. Although we do contest some of the points made by this guest, we would like every guest to have a care-free stay, and we are truly sorry that this guest felt compelled to write these comments. We would also would like to thank this guest for pointing out the things we have since improved upon. Thank you for taking the time to read this response, Don

Perfect In Every Way

  • 5 of 5

Super cute rental that included everything we needed for the weekend. Very clean and comfortable. Perfect size for 4 people. Absolutely amazing location, just a short walk away from Stop & Shop which we loved so we could cook some meals at home instead of going out. Commercial St. was the very next street over which was a huge selling point for me about staying at this location. The beach was just a short drive away. Owner answered all my questions very quickly and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I would LOVE to stay here again when I return to Provincetown in the future. Such a pleasure! Thank you so much!!

Light and airy, good natural ventilation, but also good ceiling fans and window ac. Clean well equipped kitchen. Nice deck and grill. Overall a very convenient and pleasant place to stay with good parking. Drawbacks 2nd floor with very steep stairs. Shower a bit slippery with no hand holds. Door handle to unit is very loose and needs repair. Shower mat needs to be tossed out and replaced by towel type mat, clean for each new guest.
