Both sunrises and sunsets can be experienced with views of St. Thomas and the outer harbor of Dewey. This hilltop full one bedroom casita is located 180 feet above sea level on a five acre lot. Perfect for the eco-traveler.
Let the ocean sounds and trade winds breezes lull you to sleep.
This property has three houses on it. The one we will rent sits away from the other two. My husband and I are retired and spend 6 months a year here. From mid November to mid May.
The Owner purchased this house in 1996
We bought the property for the views
This was our third time coming to the casita and we've already signed up for two weeks in 2016. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Culebra! The Corys are wonderful hosts - they know the island inside and out and have lots of helpful tips on where to eat, shop, etc. As others have said, it's a beautiful, peaceful place to restore and refresh body, mind, and spirit. Sitting on the deck each morning, drinking coffee and looking at the spectacular view, is just heavenly. The house is located about 15 minutes away from beautiful Zoni beach in one direction or town in the other direction. Easy drive to everything on the island.
This is the vacation spot where we can unplug and really relax. We look forward to it every year and it always ends too soon.
My wife and I really enjoyed staying here because of the beautiful views at sunrise, throughout the day, and at sunset. It was more secluded than a lot of the options and provided a special sense on just the two of us in this amazing environment. Having lived only in the US midwest, knew nothing about marine life but we thoroughly enjoyed all of the days of snorkeling, especially at Carlos Rosario. My wife especially enjoyed relaxing on the beaches. We would hike to a beach like Brava or Resaca and be the sole spectators of the amazing beauty.
Culebra has a "community" culture that was a refreshing complement to the beautiful surroundings. Not being a major tourist center in the Caribbean, it retains the blessing of locally-owned businesses that we really appreciated. If you are seeking a high-end vacation with homogeneous and pristine facilities then perhaps another island is the choice for you.
The house was pleasant and our hosts were very kind and informative about the island. Whenever a need arose, they quickly found a solution. There were nice windows with screens to let in a cool breeze. The bed was comfortable, including memory foam or some similar material. Basic appliances and a grill were helpful for us to prepare an occasional romantic home dinner. The weather was nice there as usual. Time slowed down!
My husband and I considered going to St. John last Christmas - luckily we landed on Culebra and picked this perfect little cottage with gorgeous views, flowering plants (even an orchid attached to the palm we parked under). A quick drive from Zoni beach with a kitchen and a sunset balcony the views and vibe were perfect. Our hosts couldn't have been more generous or helpful. Nothing's "brand new" or "super lux" it's laid back, unpretentious but it's all comfortable and for us - it was perfect.
If you are looking for a perfect getaway; this is it! We were looking for a quiet place away from the hustle of town, had spectacular views, and was quaint… Hard to believe and asking a lot, but we found it. Because it is at the top of the mountain there is a constant breeze that kept the bungalow at a perfect temperature with no bugs. The bonus was the VIEWS are SPECTACULAR!
Chap and Margo were very hospitable and attentive if we had questions. They even supplied the cooler and beach chairs! We will be back for sure.
If you are looking for that unique and special vacation destination this is it!
The house sits at the very top of a hill with steep slopes falling off both on both sides provides for dramatic sunrise and sunsets over the water. At night St. Thomas shimmers in the Living Room window on one side while the bay sparkles under the moon 200 feet below. The long water views are completely unobstructed.
The rustic décor fits with a charmed island almost untouched by modernity. There are NO chains on this island. Don't worry lots of good little places to eat. Our favorite spot was the Dingy Dock..you sit on the dock and enjoy the bay view with your refreshing drink and enjoy the food.
The owners were very knowledgeable and helpful about the island so don't be afraid to ask for them ideas. They live in another house on the property, but the houses sit so that you don't notice them at all.
The house is very clean and has the all supplies you need from cooking pots to towels and even a small cooler to take to Flamenco beach. A list of helpful hints is found to help guide you on places to eat, food shop and things to do.
Overall this had to be one of the most relaxing trips in a long time. You just can't
beat the million dollar view. Starting your day off with a cup of coffee watching the sun rise and ending the day with a cocktail at sunset! We have already booked for next year.
Things to do: scuba diving, rent a bike or kayak, kayak snorkeling trips, beach, yoga and simply relax.
We were astonished and delighted by the view, and loved our stay in this sweet little house. It's quite rustic, so for those who want hotel-like conditions it might not be the ideal place. But if you want a place to be close to nature, listen to the wind, see the stars at night, watch the sunset and sunrise...this is it.
