|Minimum Stay||2 - 3 nights|
Welcome to Hilltop Hideaway, your place to get away before, after or between big days/nights in our fair city.
From the moment you walk up the steps of your large front porch and get a nice look at the lovely blend of your neighbors' friendly homes and the towering silhouettes of the surrounding buildings, you get a sense of the comfort of being home.
If it's raining out, or on days when you feel like staying in, take advantage of your cable network on the 36-inch HD television or your in-house movie selection. If you're not in the movie mood, try out your playstation with games included. Or, play a game of cards with the gang. The choice is yours, because it's all here.
Your lovely master bedroom is a perfect place for both rest and work alike. With a large comfy king bed, it's perfect for sleeping in before a long day or cozying up after a long afternoon. Your full-size, stand-alone mirror/cabinet is perfect for prepping yourself to arrive in style at your important events. And lastly, your desk is there because not everyday is play day.
Your second bedroom is equally comfortable, equipped with two twin beds. And (like the master bedroom as well), it has a dock for playing your media with built-in alarm clock. Of course, you have your own closet and chest of drawers, and plenty of pillows. The only thing missing is you.
Your kitchen is stocked with nearly everything you'll need to prepare a lovely meal. Beginning with your gas stove and oven, pots, pans, cooking utensils and serving dishes, and spilling over to plates, knives forks and even paper towels, you won't need much else for preparing dinner. And, for morning pick-me-ups, or general use, your blender, toaster, spices, coffee grinder, coffee maker and local coffee bean are on standby as well. Your quaint circular dining table is also nearby, where you can choose to dine together, or spread out and 'watch the big game' instead.
Your ambient restroom with frosted glass (giving you both privacy and sunshine) is a shower/bath combo, to meet your needs and desires. With lots of room to spread out your things, a large mirror and cabinet space, this restroom leaves almost nothing to chance. To reinforce that, an assortment of towels, tissues, make-up pads and soaps are there for you to use.
Lastly, come relax on the deck out back. Your grill, picnic table, and comfortable seating are there to be taken advantage of.
When you're not enjoying your time at Hilltop, we hope you're enjoying our city. There's additional information on your table here, to get you started.

LOCATION: The location of the house is not in the best neighborhood nor is it on a nice, quiet street. It is very close to the road and very noisy at night. We heard sirens and gun shots the first night we were there (no joke and yes, I know the difference between fireworks and gun shots -- there were fireworks on Christmas). The train is also very noisy at night. The noise was a problem the first night but after using the small fan (which is in the second bedroom and easy to move) it drowned out the noise and we didn't hear the outside noise. I highly recommend using the fan the first night. There is a row of houses across the street that should be demolished as they have spray paint all over the back of them, as well as trash and piles of clothing. I walked behind them on the road/alleyway with my dog and saw all of this. Having said all that about the hood, we had no personal issues. No one tried to break in, our stuff was safe and we didn't feel unsafe walking our dog in the morning so it really didn't matter what the neighborhood around it looked like or had in it as we were not affected. KITCHEN: The kitchen has a full refrigerator, no dishwasher, only had one small sponge, no aluminum foil, no cling wrap or baggies, etc. so heating something up was difficult and we couldn't store any leftovers from take out. They did have a small amount of pots and pans but no non-stick spray so we had to use oil. They also did not have any napkins and no extra paper towels. Everything else was fine. It is a small kitchen but definitely easy to work with. My husband particularly enjoyed the fresh coffee beans. They had a nice electric kettle and a variety of tea bags. HEB is close by so if you need anything, it's easy to drive to. BATHROOM:The bathroom is very spacious with a tub/shower, a nice toilet and a nice vanity. Unfortunately there was only one roll of extra toilet paper so bring your own or buy some if you need more. They supplied shampoo, body wash and conditioner which was nice. TV: There are no instructions for the TV & 5 remotes. Was on HDMI 2 so we couldn't figure it out at first and the cable is very basic with few channels. We used our computer to watch things. BEDROOMS were nice but the mattress hurt our backs in the am. Comfortable couch in the LIVING ROOM and the layout is very good in the house. There is a washer/dryer outside in its own little room. Overall it was a nice little house that met our needs and was easy to drive to everything.
First thought as I was walking up the steps and seeing the porch with a cute little table, "Can't wait to sit out here in the morning and have coffee!" Second thought as I opened the door, "wow!" Great first impression of the house that continued to stay throughout my time there. I loved that it was clean (ridiculously important), that it was charming (yay for character), that it was spacious, that the kitchen had all utensils/dishes mine does, that the bathroom was stocked (no one likes packing shampoo/conditioner/hair dryer into the suitcase), and that there were no pictures of other people! Yes, I've stayed in other places where they put up their family photos...umm,weird!
Even the back yard is adorable - which happened to be where I had my coffee. Aside from the house exceeding my expectations, it is in a great part of town. Just to the east of Highway 35, where the house is located, is the new trendy part of town. Many restaurants, cute bars and yes, hipsters. The place is close to downtown, Rainey Street, UT and the Capitol... All in all, great location and great place.
In the heat of an Austin summer, this house was a treat to return to. Great décor, comfortable rooms, a relaxing stay for my friends. Top notch house, highly recommended!
My cousins and I stayed here for a long weekend and it was perfect!
House was clean, cozy, and convenient to everything we wanted.
I highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in ATX.
My sister and I rented the Hilltop Hideaway Memorial Day weekend. We were two young women and a 6 yr. old girl and 12 yr. old boy traveling to Austin for a family gathering. As with any property we rent, and there have been many, we did our homework and investigated the property and its surroundings. Speaking honestly, we were tempted to cancel our reservation because of the Google Maps Street View profile. We were uncertain about the area and were very cautious because we were traveling with children. Prior to arriving, we spoke with Ric regarding our concerns. Ric was patient, honest and reassuring and his sincerity convinced us to give the property a try. We are very happy we did! The home was charming and spacious. The rooms were clean, comfortable, bright and nicely decorated. We had one request of a porch lightbulb replacement and it was addressed immediately. We felt at home and when we left the property we found ourselves missing our Urban Gem! The area was peaceful and quiet and most importantly we felt safe. The surroundings were a mixture of small,l ranch styled, modest homes, flanked by newly constructed, modern, multi-level, shingled homes, Hampton-esque in style. Every other house was newly constructed or in the process of being built. We felt like we were a part of an Austin best kept secret! This area is going to be one of Austin's most sought after places to stay whether short term on vacation or long term as a resident! The property was within walking distance of the 6th street bar scene (which we intend to return to do) or the 7th street foodie scene! We enjoyed tacos and frescas from El Chilito and it was delicious (steak tacos yummmoooo) here is their link www.elchilito.com/. In short, if given the opportunity, treat yourself to this hip, urban, escape and live like a local without feeling like your safety is compromised! Thank you Ric, Lauren and Jay! You were all so kind and accommodating and we appreciate you!!!
