We are both designers and love creating warm, inviting spaces for our guests— a home away from home we'd love to stay in if we were traveling ourselves. It's always a pleasure to meet our guests and to give them tips on interesting places to visit.
I stayed at this home during memorial weekend and took a quick Uber ride into the city. Street parking is not a problem at all, there was always something available when needed. Separated bedrooms is a plus! You do hear every sound but if for us it was not horrible as we only went there to sleep and the noise did not begin until around 9a (understandable). Shower is a decent size, shelves are hidden but there! Everything was clean with the exception of the blanket in the back room. I suggest if you are staying here to bring your own blanket or clean the blanket prior to use. Vanity in back room, very useful with getting ready with multiple people in the home. Corner store on opposite side of block was VERY convenient. Overall, great stay, great location, I would recommend and stay here again!
We loved our stay! Will return for a third time in the near future!
This little slice of heaven was just right for our visit to the city!! The apartment had every convenience you would need...cooking utensils, glassware, cookware, plenty of towels, a shelf of books, WASHER and DRYER, even a laptop with WIFI for our convenience!! Who does that anymore?! The binder with all the house details, suggested restaurants and things to do was so thoughtful and thorough!! Plus, the property itself is located in a cool area and is so light and airy and spacious. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be coming back!
This building is, without doubt, the best managed property we have experienced on our many visits to New York (we have family living close by). NOW, this is not Times Square, it is right on the border of Brooklyn and Queens. The subway is a walk away BUT it has never bothered us (and we are in our 60's). We like the fact that parking is easily found close to apartment. This apartment is one of two larger apartments and we have stayed in both. We like the layout of this apartment. It is beautifully cleaned and I have not (yet) found something missing that I needed. It is clear the owners care about the property and their manager, Katie, is on her own! Really. There is a supermarket close by and a lovely cake shop called Buttah that is, literally down the block. Just something extra....we needed to be in Manhattan (Broadway) on a Sunday and the trip in was very fast by car. We shopped at Whole Foods and generally had an enjoyable, no stress day. I'm over the stress of Manhattan. I don't want to deal with it anymore. This apartment creates the perfect balance for me.
We had a wonderful stay! From the initial rental request to the lovely thank you email after we returned home...it was a great experience from beginning to end! The apartment is as adorable as it looks in the pictures! We had a few late nights out in the theatre district because we primarily came to see shows. On those evenings we chose to uber home because it would have taken quite a while (and a few different trains) to get back on the subway. Uber was usally between $25-$30, so split between 2 people it was totally worth it! It's nice to have a a nice neighborhood to return to after the hustle and bustle of midtown.
We happened to arrive to drop off our luggage at the same time that Alba was there to clean our place. She was kind enough to let us put our bags in the apartment. That was so nice of her! We had a great experience and would highly recommend this apartment!
Straddling the neighborhoods of Bushwick, Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens, the apartment is 5 blocks away from the Dekalb Street 'L' train station in Brooklyn—one of the best subway lines in the city. Union Square, the heart of downtown Manhattan, is only 15 minutes away via a direct subway ride; Williamsburg, Brooklyn's stylish boutiques, bars and restaurants are only a 7 minute train ride away.
Ours is a quieter, more residential neighborhood, but it is in an exciting stage of growth. In the last 5 years there has been a huge influx of artists and creatives in our immediate area. As a result, there is now a solid (and rapidly growing) number of stylish cafes, restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, yoga studios, and a great 24-hour gourmet/organic grocery store all within a 10-12 minute walk from the apartment. There are also local Italian bakeries, Halal butcher shops, Equadorian bodegas, Polish food markets and the best tasting Mexican tamales we've ever come across. All relevant information can be found in our Guest Welcome binder in the apartment and we hope that you will explore these local gems during your visit.
