The location of this cabin could not be better, a short drive to both the park entrance and to Ashford. Our arrival was magical, Kim had turned on all of the Christmas lights and several deer were waiting for us (well, for food at least). My group consisted of 4 friends so the accomadations were perfectly sized. We enjoyed a clear night in the backyard roasting marshmellows and stargazing as another herd of deer approached and ate out of our hands. Plenty of towles were available, property was clean and the instructions from the owners were very clear on check-in and check-out. Also provided was a binder of resturants and suggested hikes in Rainier. I will recomend this property to friends and stay here again if I get the chance. Thanks for a great trip!
First of all do not listen to the other B.S. reviews that give this place one star or two they are just delusional snobs and expecting the four seasons. Hello it's a cabin in the mountains. This place cannot be in a better location it's literally 500 yards from the entrance to the park. The cabin itself feels genuine like it was built by hand not cookie cutter. It does have a rustic charm but it still has all the comforts of home and did I mention DIRECT TV! The neighborhood is extremely quiet and the deer come twice a day like it's a community soup kitchen. They are so beautiful and not shy at all. There is a wine barrel loaded with corn feed for them. The river behind the house is the Nisqually which is fed by the Nisqually glacier on Ranier. You can hear the water rushing by on the back porch deck. Overall I would not hesitate to stay here again we absolutely fell in love. It feels so much like a home and not a rental. So much so that I inquired if Kim would be willing to sell it. A few other things you should know. The closest general store is about a 10 minute drive and he has WIFI and cell reception his name is Mark super friendly Asian guy. Also ate dinner one night at the Wildberry restaurant which serves classic American fare as well as authentic Himalayan meals and Sherpa recipes. They also have yak burgers and cater alot to the climbers and hikers that visit. Do yourself a favor and look no further this is your vacation home. I should also mention that the owner Kim was in contact and always available. Our flight was to depart at night a red eye back to miserable humid Florida and rather than the usual check out at noon Kim says stay as long as you want so we left early evening which was nice not having to sit at the airport for hours. We are already planning on coming back. Once you get a true taste of the Pacific Northwest you will always come back! It's our second in a year.
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in March, and it was an amazing experience. The cabin is extremely cozy and well maintained, and the surroundings are peaceful. We got back from breakfast in town to find deer waiting for us behind the house. Kim was extremely accommodating when we had to cancel our original vacation in February at the last minute, and was flexible about rescheduling. We spent the weekend relaxing, walked along the river, and hiked at Mt. Rainier NP. We are already planning our next trip back this summer!
We have stayed at this cabin before and will again. It has a very comfortable rustic feel about it. The cabin is clean and has everything that you need. We love the fact that it is walking distance to the entrance of Mt. Rainer and you can hear the water from the river at the cabin. Plus no cell phone service! We love coming up just to relax and get away from the rush of life and deadlines!
There is a nice fire pit area outside to roast marshmellows. Plus a covered area to eat outside. There is plently of firewood for both indoors and outdoors.
We really enjoyed our stay and will be going up again! Thank you!
