About John & Jeri Duerr

I loved growing up on Dixon Avenue in Charlevoix. When my children were young, I wanted them to have some of the wonderful experiences I had during my childhood and when the opportunity presented itself to purchase this charming old house, I couldn't resist. We remodelled Dixon House in 2008-2009 with the idea of providing modern amenities while retaining its original character and its comfortable atmosphere. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with family or friends, we think you will like Dixon House.

Front Porch Magic

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I came down for a wedding at Castle Farms for the weekend. We all can't believe how perfect the Dixon House was for us. We spent as much time out on the porch every morning just enjoying the neighborhood and each other's company. I agree with another review that the pictures don't do it justice, but it fit 8 of us just fine and dandy. I highly recommend this property and will tell everyone about it. We not only loved the house itself, but we loved the location to downtown. The walk over the bridge and into downtown is not only very manageable, but nice to have after all the delicious food we were consuming. Thanks Dixon House for a wonderful visit!

Family Charm

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Dixon House. If you love historic homes, this is the house to rent. It is clean and comfortable. It has everything you need. The owners are wonderful to work with and our pets were welcome. The owners welcomed us with chocolates and wine. The communication from start to finish was excellent and prompt. The price is very reasonable. The location is great as it is close enough to walk down town and to the lakes, yet you are off the beaten path. The porch is beautiful. We will choose to stay at the Dixon House again. We have not stayed in Charlevoix in the past, but, needed a place to stay for our son's wedding at Castle Farms. Now, we will visit for pure, simple relaxation and time away. It was beautiful and the Dixon House made it a comfortable stay. Really, though, I think the best part was the owners. They were so very nice and were willing to accommodate our extra requests.

Front porch perfection

  • 5 of 5

We just returned form a wonderful weekend in Charlevoix and the best thing about it was this amazing house! Everything was super clean and so well stocked! The location was an easy walk to downtown, but far enough off the main road to be quiet and peaceful. The front porch was our favorite part! The owners were gracious and helpful with all of my questions. If this home has a vacancy during the time that you are looking to travel to Charlevoix do not hesitate to make your reservation, you will not be disappointed!

Loved the Dixon House

  • 5 of 5

I absolutely loved this house! the pictures do not do the property justice. We rented the house for a wedding at the castle. The shuttle for the wedding was just down the street. We stayed with my two grown kids and spouses. We all loved it & hope to return soon. Mary

Great Place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week in Charlevoix and were very happy with the Dixon House. The house has plenty of room inside along with a beautiful front porch and patio area at the back of the house. The house is in a very nice neighborhood and only 1-2 blocks away from town. We would definitely consider staying there again.

Great location! Wonderful house! Pet friendly!

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned from a week in Charlevoix and stayed at Dixon House. A very cool house that was clean, well supplied and had tons of character and charm. We brought our 3 sons, my 75 year mom and our 4 year old Golden Retriever. Everyone had a great time! The week was a little rainy and cool a couple of the days so we took a trip to Harbor Springs and drove the "The Tunnel of Trees Scenic Heritage Route" one day and walked to town to the movie theater one of the other days. We went to the local beaches and walked to the pier at night to watch the sunsets. Also spent an afternoon in Traverse City. It was such a great week. The boys brought skateboards and were able to ride down the neighborhood streets. The front porch was a great place to relax in the morning and read the paper, etc. Can't wait to come back.
