About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6) NEW SALT WATER POOL SYSTEM

This is a very comfortable recently renovated single-family home on a direct Gulf access, sailboat-access canal that is less than 10 minutes to the Caloosahatchee River and less than 1/2 hour to the Gulf of Mexico.

We just installed a salt water system for the pool. No more chlorine!

The home features a master bedroom with a king sized bed, A new LED Smart tv, walk-in closet with a recently renovated private bath featuring a tub and shower. One guest bedroom has a king sized bed. The second guest bedroom has a new queen sized bed with a large walk-in closet. Across the hall from the second guest bedroom is a recently renovated bathroom with a large shower which is accessible to/from the screened in lanai/pool area for your convenience.

The NEW full service kitchen is bright and has a double window which fully opens (6') out to the lanai and outdoor dining area. IT FEATURES NEW CABINETS, NEW GRANITE COUNTERTOPS AND TILE. It has a garbage disposal and flitered water dispenser, dishwasher as well as the usual appliances and a new stove and cooktop. The kitchen is open to the den and separated from it by an eat-in counter with two stools. The dining room off the kitchen has a wonderful view of the lanai, pool area and canal through double-opening, glass doors. It features a beautiful Travertine marble dining table for six.

The den is furnished with beautiful leather sofas, one full sized and big enough to sleep an adult and the other slightly smaller but very comfortable for two people. The entertainment center is in the den and has a NEW LED SMART TV with a DVD player and VHS player as well as a stereo with surround sound.

The dining room is directly off the kitchen with a large Travertine Marble table and six comfortable chairs all on a beautiful marble tiled floor.

The very large living room with new hardwood floors is a great room for entertaining with a matching overstuffed and extremely comfortable couch, love seat and chair with an ottoman. The elegant side tables are matching Travertine marble bases with glass tops. Some of the furniture is antique and very well maintained. Most of the artworks are originals or signed prints.

The laundry room is down a hallway separated by a pocket door from the den and has an entry to the garage and features a full-sized washer and dryer as well as many cabinets for storage. This is also the computer station with a printer. We also have upgraded the tv service and have 5G hi speed Wi-Fi.

The house has a two-car garage with off-street parking for two more cars in the driveway. There are many tools and a work bench area in the garage along with three bikes one of which has a child seat on the back of it.

The lanai/pool area is quite large with an oversized pool and features a six person spa as well as lounge chairs, chaise lounges, a glass topped table with six chairs with cushions, three stools at the kitchen access bar and a new stainless propane grill. All the screens on the screen house surrounding the lanai as well as all of the screen doors have just been replaced.

There is a path from the door of the screen structure that leads to the waterfront with more chairs and chaise lounges on another patio, a wooden dock area, a covered boat lift and jet ski lift. It even has a crab trap and there are fishing poles in the garage for your use. The landscaping is beautiful with many exotic plant varieties including bananas, lemons, limes and oranges and well as a small herb garden. You can catch your dinner, season it and make a daiquiri ... just add rum!

Great shopping and dining are close by. It is near the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve where you can hike and rent kayaks. Great for bird and wildlife watching. There is a new park at the entrance of our canal from the Caloosahatchee River where you can launch a boat, picnic and relax.

This part of Cape Coral is fun, unpretentious and friendly, and this is why we love it and think you will too.

Keywords: relaxing, easy, quiet, fun, water, pool, spa, hot tub, warm, close, beautiful, sunsets, beaches, swimming, boating, shelling, beach-combing.

Way too much to do and mention here, so just relax and enjoy it all!

About Tom and/or Genie Wiss

We live on beautiful Lake Hopatcong in northwestern New Jersey and love the boating life including sailboat racing, antique wooden boats, canoeing and kayaking. Tom is a Landscape Architect and Genie is a Land Use Administrator. We have three grown daughters and one grandson and one granddaughter. We bought this home in the hope that we could use it more when we retire. The home is so comfortable and we feel our family will enjoy visiting us down here because there is something for EVERYONE here and everything is so convenient.

Tom and/or Genie Wiss purchased this villa in 2009

Why Tom and/or Genie Wiss chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

We thought the neighborhood was very friendly and safe. The canal ride to the river is short and is deep so you won't hit bottom and some of the canal is a park and undeveloped. There is a lot of shopping close by. The home is far enough away from the main drag so there is no traffic noise and the canal is quiet. A hospital is very close by. With no neighbors on the adjoining lots, outdoor space is ample and privacy ensured. We like that it is close to Fort Myers and the airport to pick up visitors. Also, Fort Meyers is a really neat town with upscale restaurants and lots of cultural events. The wonderful beaches of Sanibel, Captiva and Fort Myers Beach are only a short drive or boat ride away. The Cape Coral farmers market is a great place on Saturday mornings during the winter months.

What makes this villa unique

Warm temperatures, beautiful weather, a beautiful large pool, large spa, spectacular sunsets, great access to boating and sailing, convenient bargain shopping and great dining. Directly across and along the river are fabulous mansions we enjoy viewing from our boat. We drive to beaches both pristine and commercial, Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Fort Myers Beach, Naples, the Planetarium and Aquarium, miniature golf and Pine Island that reminded us of the British Virgin Islands. There is also the great fishing of Charlotte Harbor very nearby.

Very close to a free, city owned boat launch area, park, ecological preserve and shopping. Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel Island and Captiva Island and their beaches and islands are a short drive or boat ride away. This is a nice nieghborhood where we go bike riding on a regular basis and have wonderful nieghbors. The lots on both sides of the house are vacant giving you lots of room and privacy. There is a great farmer's market during the winter months in Cape Coral.

Nice home , Clean BUT Owner refuses to send Security Deposit back

  • 2 of 5

This is the Third home I have rented in Cape Coral. The home was clean and comfortable but needs some upgrading .Everything was second class including dishes bought at a flea market and a scattering of utensils from same

The Hot Tub had HUGE amounts of chlorine in it making it virtually unusable.

My main issue is that our contract included the Security Deposit which the owner refuses to return and in fact quit communicating altogether .

My lawyer read over the contract and agreed I was due the return of the Security Deposit and still no answer back. We would have settled for half but did not get that chance. Tom quit communicating completely !!!

After this experience I would book elsewhere and read reviews CAREFULLY !! There are much nicer homes available in Cape Coral. The Hot Tub was a major attraction which turned out to be a chlorine choking hazard . I own a Hot Tub and this unit was extremely poorly and dangerously maintained .

Tom was certainly NOT READING our contract carefully

Compared to the other 5 Star homes I have rented this one was a 3-4 star but dropped to 2 when the owner quit communicating

Owner's Response: Sorry you don't understand contracts Dale. You got a great deal and then you bring an extra guest with you for which you were not charged anything extra. There is no chlorine in the spa ever. If you actually know anything about spas, you would know that it is bromine and all you have to do is let it run uncovered for a while. It had been covered for quite some time before you arrived. And really, fine china, new glassware and more utensils and appliances than most homes have. Sorry it did not have a Kuereg coffee maker as you asked for. We don't drink coffee. You really did not expect me to continue our discussions after you threatened me, did you? And now you write a scathing and untrue review just to try to get even? Very petty of you Dale. Now I'm sorry I wrote a good review of you. Then I got this response from the family that is in the house just after you- "It didn't take us long to realize that we enjoy being here in Cape Coral. Your vacation home is beautiful and more than we expected. With that said, we would like to know if this house is available for March and April of 2018. If so, we would like to secure it for those two months. If it is available, let us know how we should proceed. PS We enjoyed meeting you the Wednesday. Donna and Doug ..."

The Benchmark for Villa rental

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked Wisspering Palms to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and certainly had a wonderful time to remember.

The term "Home from Home " is often overused in reviews, but this time it fits the Villa perfectly.

The little touches, like the different room styles, the chess set, and the printer with paper, all added to feeling of a home rather than a sterile rental property.

The comforts are first class, beds, lounge and "Den" inside, the lanai with pool, loungers and most importantly the Hot Tub,which was excellent for the old back, outside.

Tom always felt approachable and friendly, from the booking, through to the minor question we had on arrival.

Tom Supplied a comprehensive list of instructions and local places to visit and eat.

This being our fourth holiday in Cape Coral, we could spend the days relaxing at the villa, watching the fish jump. the boats sailing on the canal and the wildlife, without the need to rush off and sight see, that said a couple of visits to Sanibel for the sunset is always required.

Thank you Tom for sharing your wonderful home with us and made our special occasion that bit more special.

Owner's Response: Thank you Ian and Catherine. Genie and I try real hard. We only wish we could be there full time. It's always great to have people from other countries stay at our house and thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Great vacation house!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I rented Tom & Genies house for a week so we could decide if we wanted to relocate to Florida. We absolutely loved the house and the location! The house had everything that you could possibly need for a comfortable stay!Very clean and well kept! The area was also great with all of the conveniences such as shopping, dining, rentals, etc. the neighbors were pretty quite, didn't see anyone outside much.A few really good places to eat were First Round Draft on Del Prado.

Cappone's Coal Fired Pizza in down town Fort Meyers was a trip. They were celebrating half way to Christmas and everyone was dressed for Christmas!!! Great pizza! And our favorite place to eat was Pinchers Crab Shack! Loved their seafood and 2 for 1 happy hr all day! We also rented a boat and tied it to the dock right at the house. I do want to warn you that we did go to paradise Boat Rentals the day after we arrived to rent a boat and they were really nice there but tricked us into renting a boat for $600 for one day! The guy there said without a reservation there were no boats anywhere to rent in cape coral and that we better rent one the day before we go home from them if we want to rent a boat. In a panic we gave him our credit card and after he ran the card he told us no refunds even if the weather was bad! We left and was driving and then we spotted The Boat House and thought we would stop in and they had plenty of boats!!! We ended up getting a nice boat for 2 days for $400 !!!! We really felt tricked and ripped off by Paradise Boat Rentals! And when we did go pick up the $600 boat from Paradise Boat it was bigger but old,the navigation didn't work, and every time another boat would speed past us big waves of water would pour into our boat making me panic!!! Not fun!I hope Tom doesn't recommend them to his guests anymore! But besides the boat experience everything else was great!!! And by the way we are moving to Cape Coral in April!!! Thanks Tom and Genie!

Awesome place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We chose this house to be close to family that live in the area ,the house ended up being 2 minutes away from them. Perfect location, close to everything . Nice quiet subdivision . The neighbors were extremly friendly and helpful! We were given great directions, able to find easily. We had a couple hiccups on our end and the home owners went above and beyond to make sure we were able to have a great stay. The house was immaculate! Very clean ,plenty of linens, plenty of kitchen utensils . We used the new grill several times. The place has everything you could possibly want to use , dishwasher , laundry room , bikes , fishing equipment , beach toys, pool , hot tub, dock, cable. We had plans to sight see and go to amusement parks but loved the house so much that we ended up spending most of our time in the pool and fishing off the back dock. We did go to the beach every day and out to eat ( which one of the neighbors had made a couple suggestions which we we were glad we took ) if you have small children we suggest Cape Coral yacht club because of the close park . The kids loved ft.myers beach because of all the sand dollars and starfish they found . My husband and I liked sanibel island where we swam right beside dolphins. The home owners left a nice list of places they have went to and liked ,from restaurants to shopping. We recommend First round draft sports bar and grille . Families are welcome very nice staff great food right around the corner . We HIGHLY recommend this property! We can't wait to book this place again!

This home was absolutely everything we were looking for AND MORE! Very easy to get to from Ft. Myers airport and located around just about everything you would need from shopping, restaurants and beaches. House was very clean and welcoming with fresh linens and towels. Use of pool and hot tub definitely hit the spot for some relaxation on our busy days. Everything in the house was easy to use and we did not have any questions. The use of the bikes was very enjoyable for trips around the lovely neighborhood. We will definitely be back to witness the awesome view and sunsets right from the lanai. Both Tom and Genie were very easy to work with and very helpful with any questions we had regarding our stay. Our vacation here was wonderful! Rich and Sharon

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This house is like going from your home to another in Florida. It is so well furnished that I thought I was going back to my house. There is even a computer with a printer and even paper and blank CD roms. I have my own so I did not have to use Tom's, but it's there. The list Tom gives you of attractions, places to shop, bars, boat rentals and even a pawn shop are very helpful. There were more than enough linens and towels. I really did like the hot tub. As far as asking any questions, Tom would get back with you almost immediately. This is by far a great place to return to and I would like to. Thanks Tom and Genie for a great home away from home.

Our beautiful recently renovated home is very close to Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, the bohemian Pine Island and Fort Myers Beach all of which are great day trips with wonderful scenery, great beaches, delicious restaurants, fishing from land or sea and some of the best beach combing in the United States. It is very close to shopping of all kinds yet far enouph away that there is no traffic and is extremely relaxing. Biking to the local park or the Ecological Preserve is another fun yet short trip. Rent a boat from the local boat livery and explore the canals, the Calosahachee River or go out to the Gulf or go Tarpon fishing in Pine Island Sound.

So much to do, but relaxing by the pool or in the spa or at the patio at the waterfront is what we hear the most from or guests.

Our Home- it's a great place to go.
