*BUGS - This is northern Michigan in the summer, there will be bugs. We spray each spring and this helps to lessen the invasion. If you are a ‘bug-a-phob, ’ bring your spray and flyswatter(s)…
*NO SMOKING - Anywhere on the property!!! We have experienced renters smoking cigars on the deck, the scent lingered, next renters were asthmatic and had to leave.
*SEPTIC SYSTEM - Please be mindful of what goes down the drain and commode. Our delicious well water (so good we feel we could bottle and sell) is the trade off for awareness in this area.
***Dispose of feminine hygiene products via trash receptacle.
***Drainfield is located north of driveway - Please NO PARKING in this area.
If you choose to stay during the summer we will likely be somewhere close by boating and are happy to show you the view from the water when convenient…

If you are a similar group, we welcome you.
***Representing yourself to be a small group, then breaching our contract by inviting additional adult friends over to party & join you overnight is restricted not allowed. ***Neighbors will alert us immediately. This will result in a termination of contract. You will be required to vacate premises with no refund.

John and Amy Amos
Keywords: House,Cottage, Chalet.
Amy and I live in the Grand Rapids area. Amy is an elementary music teacher and I am a retired tool and die engineer. We are also entertainers for weddings, private parties and corporate events. The name of our group is The Life of the Party. Amy picked this picture because she looks great, I was playing it up and look ridiculous(oh well).
John Amos purchased this house in 2002
There are advantages to not being lakeside, including cost and the danger to young children who may get out of sight for even the shortest of time intervals. I don't know if I could fully relax with children if staying at a lakeside cottage. Most of the lakeside cottage rentals are over twice the cost of ours. Torch Lake is beautiful and best seen by boat. You can rent our cottage and a boat for the cost of just a cottage on the lake. I would suggest daily boat rentals and spend time seeing some of the other things Northern Michigan has to offer as well. We bought our cottage a short time after we were married. It is our second marriage. We sold Amy's house and bought our cottage. We just love the area, from mushroom hunting in the spring, boating and golfing in the summer, more golfing biking and hiking in the fall to skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. It has been a blessing to own.
Very close to everything one could ever want to do up north and yet affordable. It is private, but not too private. Close to all the action, but not too close. Easy to keep up and yet it has a yard and is in a neighborhood that used to be an apple orchard.
We had the perfect time with awesome weather. We came up on short notice and John was very helpful. It was greatly appreciated. Everything we needed for a great stay was available. The beds were very comfy and the bedrooms were on opposite sides of the house which was great. Torch Lake is so gorgeous! Had dinner at Dockside. They had great food. Thank you so much for accommodating us. Our family function was so much fun.
We really enjoyed our time here. The house is spacious, bright, and cheery. It is well furnished and up to date. The owners are very helpful. The wraparound deck is relaxing with great views of Torch Lake. It's fun to watch the birds at the bird feeder. There are plenty of games for rainy days.
Everything was wonderful! We would love to stay here again.
We had a very good time in this lovely and bright house. It was very well updated and clean. The owners had a lot of items there so we didn't have to purchase, such as dish soap, trash bags, etc... The view from the deck was very nice and watching all the birds come to the bird feeders was awesome.. And we were able to bring our dog so that was a major plus for us...
John and Amy were great! Cottage is adorable, clean, and cozy. Great layout. Dogs loved lounging in the sun on the big porch, and I loved cooking on the island while watching TV. Good central location as well. Close to Traverse city, and Elk Rapids. Thanks for a great stay!
We absolutely loved our stay at this cottage! John & Amy are very friendly, genuinely nice people and easy to rent from. They made the whole process (as this was our 1st time renting) simple! The cottage was perfect for us...it had everything we needed and the location was nice. It's peaceful at the cottage which made it easy to relax, but there is a lot of activity close by ~ boat rentals, great restaurants, and wineries...just to name a few. We've decided to try and make this an annual trip ~ loved it!!
Everything you can dream of in a northern Michigan vacation:People watching on the sandbar, wine tour on Mission Point Peninsula, Sleeping Bear Dunes National park is less than a 2 hour drive away, the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge is less than a 2 hour drive away, Leeland - Charlevoix - Petoskey - Machinaw City - Traverse City - Glen Arbor - are all within a reasonable drive away - it is a great base from which to see all that Northern lower Michigan has to offer,
