I have been visiting Maui for over twenty years, and each time I find something new to discover about this beautiful island paradise. The waters are warm, blue and filled with beautiful tropical fish. I enjoy golfing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Walking to the nearby restaurants, including Fred's Mexican Cafe (my personal favorite fun-spot!) is a great way to enjoy a night out after a day of activities.

The Maui Banyan is the perfect location-my unit is right across from the Kamaole Beach Park II, yet within walking distance of restaurants, shopping and Wailea.
Taking a short walk across the street in time to sink my toes into the sand while watching the sun go down is one of my favorite things to do.
Our arrival was seamless. We checked in at the front desk, and all of the keys, codes and parking information was provided. I had forgotten to obtain the wifi password, but went down later and had no problem receiving it. The condo was clean, tidy, and waiting for our arrival! The location can't be beat, and was the main reason for booking this condo compared to others similar to it. It is literally steps from the beach. We had no trouble carrying the provided chairs, towels and boogie boards the short distance to the water. Shops and restaurants are plentiful on the strip, some within a comfortable walking distance, others a short drive away. We did not use the pool or hot tub, but we heard from other guests that they were quite nice. The condo itself was spacious and well appointed. The kitchen had all of the necessary gadgets, although the garberator was also not functioning for our visit, but I contacted the owner and she nicely offered to have a repairman come to repair it during our stay. I didn't want to feel held back from my vacation waiting for the repairman to show up, and we didn't feel the need to use it during our stay, so we just let it go. We made due with the limited number of dishes, there was plenty of cutlery, but more coffee cups would have been convenient. Each bedroom was very spacious, each having their own fan and A/C unit, and balcony. The rooms were separated by the living/kitchen area, which provided ample privacy for the 2 couples travelling together. The shower in the bathtub also didn't drain well for us, probably due to the superfine sand from the beach. We did our best to rinse off as much of the sand from the beach as possible, it helped that there was a tap/shower head just at the entrance to Building A. Overall this was a great condo. It is exactly as the owner has advertised it. I would come back to it again the next time I visit Maui, and recommend it to anyone planning to stay in that area.
I am not typically one to write reviews, however this condo was fantastic! The condo was extremely clean and well-maintained, exactly as described by the owner. All the amenities you could possibly require were available and the condo is very spacious! Mary the owner, was super to deal with - organized, professional and you can tell she truly cares about the people staying in her condo to ensure they have a great stay! We looked into a lot of places and by far this is also the best for the value. It is the closest to the beach without actually being on the beach! There are a lot of shops and great restaurants in walking distance. You can't go wrong with this place ...we recommend it 100%. It will be our first choice for sure whenever we travel to Maui!
We've been in this unit in April with 6-months old baby. From the pictures, it looked nice - but the house smelled very bad (probably because the unit was not renovated for a while). We could not sleep well, and the ventilation system was not working properly. Also there were a lot of bugs coming from the kitchen, and we decided not to use it (and this is something that housekeeping cannot fix easily).
Because of that - we actually needed to move to the nearby hotel for three nights. I already communicated this with the owner, and since the description was not updated for families with small kids - I needed to post this negative review for the others.
I have personally traveled to Maui many times throughout the years and this unit is my favorite place to stay by far! It's right next to the beach, clean, within walking distance to fun shops and eats (especially Fred's Mexican Cafe - Taco Tuesday and the DivaRita is a MUST!), and above all - the owner is friendly and quick to respond to any questions or concerns I might have. Right across the street at the beach there's great snorkeling, and you can go for a swim and not have to worry about being overcome with crazy waves. I have already booked for next year and can't wait to get my toes back in the sand!
Condo needs some TLC. Missing a TV, dryer was broken when we got there, found dirty towels in a bag in the closet. Phone was missing, no batteries in the remotes for the TV ect. Amenities listed on paper didn't match what we got.
So where should I start? How about right when we walked through the front door. We immediately smelled an awful smell that was beyond the normal musty smell that can be associated to homes in high humidity area. It was more of a smokey/chemical/moldy type smell. My guess is that someone let off one of the bug bombs that we found in the closet. We had to purchase air fresheners and stage them around the condo in order to mask the smell. I knew immediately that this condo was not being cared for and that we would be stuck with the odor for our week long stay. :-(
We saw lots of ants in the kitchen and bathroom. (see videos) Once we made our way to the bedrooms my daughters noticed that there were stains on the bed spreads. Once the sheets were pulled back they noticed that those were dirty as well. We purchased laundry detergent as well as other cleaning supplies and began washing and cleaning things. Just what we wanted to do on our vacation.
The faucet at the kitchen sink leaked. The counter tops, tables and chairs were filthy. (see photos) There is severe water damage in the main room beneath the AC and the back door. The window coverings have stains all over them. Several of the kitchen items are broken and in disarray including two broken blenders, one of which the blades are completely missing. There was significant mold, mildew and just plain dirt in the bathrooms and throughout the living area of the unit.
More items to note:
There are no fitted sheets and the sheets that were provided did not fit the beds which left you partially lying on the mattress
The beds do not have headboards
There are no sharp kitchen knives
The pan handles for all the pans were loose and wobbly
The WiFi did not work during our entire stay
The furniture in the main living area have been painted and likely over a very dirty surface which is why it is flaking off.
I communicated with the owner and she said she had visited the unit just four weeks prior in December and stated everything was fine then. It was clear that either she misrepresented her visit or her standards are significantly well below those of the average consumer. A picture is worth a thousand words.
