About Linda

We relocated from California over 30 years ago, and love New York, especially the Upper West Side. The park is our backyard. We picnic, run, bike, play tennis, attend free concerts, and shows. Winters in our 'backyard' often allows us to sled, ski, and skate.

We love dining, and are so fortunate to have every type of cuisine and ethnicity within walking distance from our home.

Travels away from home take to exotic locations to explore, and play. Scuba diving is one of many passions, as well as skiing, and Yankees Baseball.

Linda purchased this apartment in 1994

What makes this apartment unique

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Linda,

I stayed at your vacation rental apartment for three days the second week in May, and have been meaning to e-mail you to say thank you. Sorry this is a belated thank you, but it's been crazy-busy here.

The apartment was absolutely immaculate and lovely, better than I could have imagined. I was impressed at how thoughtfully you had stocked the fridge and supplied all sorts of toilettries in the bathroom. And I loved having that wonderful big bathtub to soak in the day that I walked from W 83rd all the way down to 21st Street and back again! The neighbourhood was great - so conveniently located -- and I always felt safe, even when walking home from supper at the nearby restaurants in the evening after dark.

I've kept your contact info to give to any friends who might be wanting to visit your wonderful city, and if I'm lucky enough to be able to return to NYC, I will definitely be contacting you again to stay at your apartment.

Thanks again for making my days on my own in NYC safe and comfortable.

Very best regards,

RTF

Small but adequate apartment, conveniently located

  • 5 of 5

The owners, Linda and Steve, greeted us on arrival and familiarized us with the first floor apartment. We were to spend 8 active days seeing as much of New York as possible, so we were not looking for much more than a bed and a shower. However, we were quite pleased with the homey and comfortable atmosphere - even the Murphy bed was fine. Linda had stocked the place with candy and snacks, everything was clean and there were plenty of towels, linens, etc. The location is less than half a block from Central Park, and only a block and a half from the subway, (which means easy access to just about everything once you get the hang of it - we went to Ground Zero, Broadway, the Village and Brooklyn with no problems). The A/C kept us cool, (which suited us as NYC was having somewhat of a heat wave!) The neighborhood is great, and we had no problems whatsoever. We would stay again if possible, and would not hesitate to recommend the apartment to any couple looking for a serviceable, handy place to stay for a weekend or a week while exploring Manhattan or all of New York City. Thanks, Linda and Steve, for your hospitality!

Perfect apartment, great location, fabulous host.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is beautiful and exactly as shown in the photos. It is small, but so well set out that it doesn't feel at all cramped and has one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Linda is lovely and made my daughter and I feel very welcome. She gave us all the information we needed about getting around NY and suggestions on what to see and do. It is literally a (New York) minute walk from Central Park, a 3 minute walk from the Museum of Natural History and closest subway and the Met is just across the park on the east side. The area has many restaurants and interesting shops within a short walk. We loved coming back to the apartment at the end of each day exploring the city. I highly recommend Linda's and Steve's apartment while visiting New York.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This small but luxurious apartment on the upper west side of NYC was perfect. My husband and I felt like special guests. The owner was accommodating and took care of all our needs. She had even gotten us wine and cake for our anniversary celebration. Everything we needed and then some were provided for us. We had an awesome weekend and the only downside was we had to leave. We hope to go back soon!

Perfect location and fantastic interactions

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I visited in July 2016, during a modest heat wave (first time NYC travelers!). The owner showed us around the unit and we were surprised with how much functionality the place had. The bed slept comfy and the bathroom and other amenities were acceptable and clean. The window unit was able to maintain a pleasant temp despite the heat outside. The apartment is literally blocks away from Central park and the fantastic Upper West Side (cross streets Columbus, Amsterdam and Broadway). This location is a 10 minute walk from 20+ restaurants, metro stop (B & C line), Central Park, Natural History Museum and many more places. The owners were very friendly and relaxing (hand's off). You can tell there's a fun history of previous travelers that have come through, as there is a binder of restaurant menus complete with hand written recommendations & notes. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

WONDERFUL Owners and WONDERFUL place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Owners we very very helpful in helping us learn how to navigate the UWS as well as NYC. Great suggestions on food, shopping and events in the local area and how to get around. The apartment was just perfect for what we needed. Greeted with a refrigerator full of goodies and waters. Just a wonderful experience. My husband and I are already talking about coming back to NYC just for some plays and dinner - and this is the apartment we would stay in again. Loved it!

Wonderful and very well stocked ground floor brownstone apartment right off Central Park

  • 5 of 5

This was definitely the most well stocked apartment we have ever rented. Actual apartment was as advertised. No negative surprises. Real surprises were on the positive side. This included lots of snacks, jams, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate, etc etc. Even included rain slickers, umbrellas, picnic pack. Barely had to buy anything. Location is right off Central Park. Even though ground floor apartment there was not much street noise. Murphy Bed was very comfortable. Location is close to many good restaurants and great access to subway system. Check in and checkout without any issues. Highly recommended.
