About Janet Kubetschek

Janet and I have always loved the mountains. This picture is our first 14-er we hiked Mt Sherman. We are from Florida originally, 5ft above sea level. Each year we would vacation out West. We found our piece of heaven in Fairplay Colorado and built our home in 2006. Our dogs adapted to the elavation better then we did. They love the outdoors and don't mind sharing it with other 4 legged friends.

Janet Kubetschek purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Janet Kubetschek chose South Central Colorado

The mountain views are breath taking, especially at 10,200 elv. Beautiful views of Buffalo Peaks, Weston Pass Mountain Range and Pikes Peak. This is Mother Nature at her finest. We always feel like we are on vacation.

What makes this apartment unique

The wildlife that we see almost everyday is unbelievable. Moose, Bear, Coyote, Fox, Deer, Porcupine, Badgers and Elk. The Hummingbirds in the early spring through early fall. Amazing how such little creatures can migrate the distance they do and always seem to have so much energy. We enjoy them every year.

Great place near some excellent backcountry

  • 5 of 5

This is a roomy, comfortable apartment, with all amenities as described. Janet is a great host. My terriers and I used this as a base to climb numerous 14ers; the Mt. Sherman trailhead is just a short drive away, and heading towards Breck there's some great backcountry. And don't forget the Buffalo Peaks trailhead just down the road; those are the peaks you see to the SW. In the immediate area of the house there are bristlecone pines and abundant wildlife. The dogs had a lot of fun chasing chipmunks and squirrels through the wood piles. A couple of nights, I could hear coyotes baying close by. Great place.

Would go back in a heartbeat!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 (2 teenagers) and a dog had an awesome time in this cabin! Janet is a wonderful host and treated us like family. She gave us as much privacy as we wanted, but she is a hoot and we invited her to a grilled fish dinner one evening on her deck. We also enjoyed several Bon fires with her and another friend. The drive up CR5 is charming with little to no traffic, which was awesome. Road is maintained, no prob for 2 wheel drive. As we drove up her aspen-lined road, it opened up to her Beautiful cabin. The apartment is very charming, sqeaky clean, and comfortable. It had everything we needed. I enjoyed my coffee every morning at the top of the stairs while watching dozens of hummingbirds come to the feeder. We are a fishing family and there are many lakes to choose from within a 30 mile radius. Easy to get to. Of course shopping in Dillon and Breckinridge is close too, which my teenage daughter liked! The views from the cabin are everything to be expected in the mountains. Looked like a painting. We stayed a week, and have been home a few days and I already miss that place. Great value. Book it!

Perfect Escape

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was fantastic! It was stocked with everything you could ever want/ need (down to coffee filters and dish TV!). My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week. It is set against a beautiful mountainous backdrop. Very quiet. We're from a big city and the still was something we have never fully experienced until our stay in Fairplay. Our hostess was wonderful. Our first night she walked us through the ends and outs of the apartment. She even provided us a landline to use since we were out of cell service (how thoughtful!). I wholeheartedly recommend this property. One thing to keep in mind is the distance from the apartment to major attractions.

All the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice stay. We were their on business and got a great feel of what Colorado living is all about. The guest house was nice, clean, had most amenities, with great views. We purchased groceries and cooked breakfast and dinner there. Ms. Janet had everything we needed and was very accommodating. Highly recommend if you want to get away from it all.

Ultimate Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I chose this property as a home base for two weeks of fishing, hiking, and real estate shopping. It fulfilled all my needs perfectly. The accommodations were excellent. The host was available when needed but afforded all the privacy desired. I was pleased with the remote cabin feeling while at the same time feeling totally safe. The adjacent Buffalo Peaks Wilderness area is a real jewel. I'll definitely book again.
