Hello, My name is Hyland Hogan. My wife Rebecca and I purchased here at 'Paradise of the Sea' because of the warm and friendly atmosphere of the people, area and history of La Paz. We enjoy every minute we spend here and know you will too. Please make this your home away from home, we believe it will inspire you to return. the Hogan's

Growing up, my favorite TV show was Jacques Cousteau. His specials on the Sea of Cortez always stuck with me, and now I'm here to explore for myself. So far I have not been disappointed. When you're on the property, it's like you're on a private island because of built-in rules to preserve the natural beauty. All visitors use electric vehicles to get around as well as the electric ferry boats.
One of the most surprising things to us was how every restaurant we've tried has been exceptional. Fresh seafood and the famous Baja beef is incredible. You can hire a driver or rent a car to explore the many historic mining towns or unspoiled beaches. The sea of Cortes and Baja area offers so many varieties and options of things to choose from its hard to make up your mind what to do next.
We stayed in Hyland's unit for eight nights. It is a gorgeous unit with more than enough space for our family of five. The large kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare simple meals. There was ample bedding and towels for both showering and the pool.
We enjoyed walking on the beach, which is one of the nicest in the city, and we appreciated its relative solitude. The kayaks and paddleboards that are available to borrow were great, but you may want to sign them out the night before if you want to be assured a paddle because there is some abuse of the system by the long-term residents.
The shuttle to the ferry was prompt and reliable and the ferry ran like clockwork. Everyone who works at PDM, including Maude, Hyland's property manager, was helpful and responsive.
Thank you to Hyland for the use of his stunning unit.
We enjoyed the condo & the location. Taking the el trolle into La Paz was fun. We would have liked continuous hot water. The internet Reuter was not as strong as it could be(so sitting in the master bedroom we were not able to connect with the Internet). This may not seem important but I was still trying to stay in touch with work & it was up & down. Our whole experience re Paraiso Del mar could have been more positive if we had a property Mgr who could communicate. We found Sarahi in the business office to be totally terrific!! She gets 5 stars. She got us a golf cart to rent, explained about the water bottles, kayak & paddle bd use age etc etc. it made us feel welcome & isn't that what it's all about?
Paraiso del Mar is a fantastic place to vacation and this is one of its best units. You cannot beat the views, the whale sharks, the weather, the beach, the top-notch on-property restaurant, or the responsive service from the on-site property manager. We had three generations on board for this trip, and everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Hogan and Rebecca are quick to respond and lend a hand and advice. Heartily recommend!
We stayed in Hyland's condo the first week of April. Hyland was great to work with - got back to us immediately and was willing to answer any questions we had about the area, etc. The condo is beautiful with a terrific view. Bring binoculars to check out the bay. Everything we could ever have imagined was there. We ate breakfast and lunch at the condo and went out most nights. The pool area was large - really gorgeous and the pool bar food and drinks were great. We flew into San Jose del Cabo and hired a driver that brought us through the mountains. He took us to get groceries and helped us get our stuff onto the ferry. We didn't need a car. The ferry arrives on the 1/2 hour, so very convenient. Always on time. Then we spent our days walking the malecon, which is super long and full of activity. A beautiful city from the waterfront. We hired a panga to take us to the whale sharks - a bucket list item - amazing! And went on a snorkel trip with Marlin Adventures. Took a taxi to Balandra one day - gorgeous. Lots of long walks at the condo beach. (There really are stingrays, so shuffle!) Used the kayaks and paddle boards each day, too. Paddles aren't always there, though. The manager of the condo, Maude, helped us arrange trips. Was super helpful. We tried to get a golf cart, but none available. Would have been nice to have one to check out the peninsula, golf, and get to ferry. (You need to call for a pickup 1/2 hour before you need to be at ferry - they were very prompt and friendly, but would have been convenient to have own cart.) A fantastic trip. I would definitely go back!
Great time at your place. Plenty of room for six. Love the beach.
Two minor issues - limited TV channels and no light over stove so kitchen dark for cooking. Some lights out in ceiling.
Staff running shuttle and Le Trolle were great and always on time.
Also equipment on the beach is poor condition, broken paddles, no paddles for paddle boards.
If you are going to La Paz. This is your best option!
We flew in to San Jose del Cabo airport and rented a car from Cactus rentals. This a privately owned car rental outfit and they are very easy to deal with. Everything was up front for the rental and they shuttled us from the airport (5 minutes). The road to La Paz is very nice. Take the Todos Santos route ( 19 ). You do have to watch for livestock. We arrived in La Paz and due to poor timing it was dark, so finding the ferry wasnt straightforward. The entrance to the marina is at the north end of the Malecón. This the name for the beachfront strip. Look for Stella's restaurant and you will see the marina's sign. The dock for the ferry is about 50 yards from Stella's following the sidewalk and is the first gate you will come to that goes down on the pier. I wont go into great detail about Hyland's penthouse given all of the other reviews here. Needles to say it exceeded our expectations with an expansive living area and very comfortable kitchen.
Shopping is very convenient. From the marina's entrance you go to the stop sign and go right. Several miles down this road you will find a walmart which we used the first time out. It is located right at the intersection of hwy1 and the Transpeninsular road that takes you right to the Malecón. Our local favorite was the CCC market. Look for a large store with a shopping cart on the sign about 2 miles from the marina on the left.
Having said this the Chilean chef, and his crew, who is on site at the condos cannot be beat! Careful... the margaritas will sink your ship if not consumed judiciously. :-)
The next time we go to La Paz we will be in contact with Hyland!
La Paz offers many nature viewing options. Hatching sea turtles, swimming with whale sharks, or snorkeling around sea lions are all within minutes of this property
