We spent Christmas and New Year here and it was a wonderful experience for everyone. This apartment is very comfortable and very well equipped and just a lovely space, and above all is in a great location to explore everything Quebec City has to offer on foot. Our daughter slept on the double futon bed up in the loft area which was very fun (it wouldn't be suitable for very young children because there are no railings but for older kids it's perfect). We walked up to the Plains of Abraham for xc skiing, tobogganing and skating and in the evening meandered down to the Quartier Petit Champlain for all of it's Christmas magic, and we walked everywhere in-between. It was relaxing not to have to use the car and also much easier this time of year. Parking is outside in a lot right behind the building and is managed by some very pleasant gentlemen. Staying for a longer time we got a good rate; we paid $12.50 per day. We loved Quebec City and the surrounding area esp. Lac Beaufort area and Le Massif de Charlevoix (the backcountry 7.5km sled run is AMAZING!). Sylvain was very responsive to all of our questions before and during our visit. It couldn't have been nicer! Highly recommended.
We recently spent a week in this Quebec loft and it was wonderful. When we arrived at the airport we experienced problems with our cell phone and couldn't let the owners know we had arrived. Fortunately the owners had provided the entry instructions in advance and we were able to get into the loft, connect with the internet and get our phone problems solved. The owners were very patient and understanding about our bumbling arrival (as well as earlier problems we had with our paypal account.) Well, once we settled down we were able to enjoy the perfect accommodations of the loft and the surrounding wonders of the city. The location of the loft is in the heart of Vieux Quebec within walking distance of many great restaurants, local sights and shopping districts. The loft was very comfortable, quiet and climate controlled - not to mention the awesome roof deck. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire trip with the loft as our perfect home base. We highly recommend this VRBO property.
We are celebrating 60 years of marriage and our stay in Quebec at this grand romantic space was perfect. We were able to take advantage of all the music, meals, and happenings in the area. Having much of this right at our door, made it very convenient.
We did go biking every day on the St Charles river, across the St. Lawrencer River (Levis), island of Orleans, and in the city. Great exercise bushing the bikes up the hill.
We highly recommend this special lodging in old Quebec.
The apartment was perfectly located on Rue St. Jean, a major street in Vieux Quebec. Restaurants and shops are right outside the lobby door. There's convenient parking in a pay lot right behind the building - for 5 nights the cost was 100 CD.
The loft is spacious, modern and well equipped. It's a perfect choice for visiting Quebec and it's location also makes it easy for day trips outside the city. Rue St. Jean stays busy at night but the loft is located on the third floor and we did not find it at all noisy, even with the windows open. The bed was very comfortable. There is also a deck on the roof where one can enjoy a glass of wine while watching sunsets or the lights of the old city. We walked all of Vieux Quebec and also walked to restaurants outside the city walls.
Our only regret was that due to a miscommunication, we never had the opportunity to meet either Sylvain or Sandra, other reviews speak to their hospitality.
My husband and I spent 8 nights in this beautiful St Jean loft. The location is in old Quebec city steps away from groceries, restaurants, museums, historic sights... We enjoyed a comfortable stay with all we needed to cook, do laundry, relax and sleep. The very high ceilings and large arched windows make this loft feel especially spacious. the buiding and loft are wonderfully maintained and make a great haven for a visit to QC.
My wife and I have only positive things to say about to week-long stay. The location and the loft are perfect… The building itself is an older historical building that blends with the surrounding area but is modern, secure and clean on the inside. The unit has everything one needs – even an expresso maker. We also found the building to be very quiet– just the sounds of Old Quebec. Sylvain had given us code for the front door and had the keys in a lock box for the loft. After a day of airports and fights it was it was so enjoyable to be able to easily access the loft and finally relax. The loft was more than either of us expected and became our home away from home. I also want to mention that the loft is not some small unit- it’s quite large.
The location is perfect for exploring Old Quebec. Saint Jean is a street filled with shop and restaurants. Overall, everything is within walking distance- even the far end of the ‘Plains of Abraham’. Later in the afternoon the street is closed to traffic and the local restaurants setup outdoor dining and various street performers set up. Each morning we would sit in front of the open windows with our coffee and enjoyed the sights and sounds of Quebec. The sound of horse drawn carriages on the cobble stone street was so pleasant. My wife and I love to walk and the location allowed us to investigate the various streets and discover the hidden treasures of Old Quebec. So much to see and do within a very short walk- no car needed.
I would positively recommend the loft.
