Nestled in the rolling hills and hidden between famous vineyards, we invite you to enjoy our very private, rustic, relaxing country home. Our home is perched high on 20 acres of oak trees and lupine filled meadows overlooking the beautiful Cachagua Valley.
Perfect for a family on holiday, weekend getaways or as a romantic retreat; use our Rose Cottage as a place to recharge or as a home base for exploring local vineyards, Big Sur, Carmel by the Sea, and Monterey.
The main house is two story with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, living and dining area wood stove, full laundry area and lots of deck. The adjoining apartment holds 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with TV for DVD and video games. Both are fully furnished
My husband was born and raised in Carmel, we were married in Carmel Valley 30 years ago and have been going to either the village or Carmel often in those 30 years. This area is home and we plan to retire there someday. Currently we live in the San Francisco Bay area. Our country home has become our retreat, a place to unwind and recharge .We love to get out of the city and into the sunshine and slower pace of the country. We never grow tired of looking out at the vineyard filled valley from our deck or driving into Carmel for a sunset walk on the amazing white sand beach.
The Owner purchased this house in 2001
We found this property by chance on a business trip to Carmel. Once the realtor opened the gate to the property and we saw the beautiful meadow filled with lupine, poppies and ancient oak trees we knew we were home.
We love the quiet. You will notice when you first get out of the car the only sound you hear is the crickets and the frogs. We love the views of the valley, watching the finger of fog moving in and out of the valley below in the early morning or evening. We love eating dinner out on our deck in the soft candlelight on a warm night. We love to drive into Carmel to walk on the beach at sunset. There are so many things to do but often we just stay home with a pile of books and sit on the deck reading and relaxing.
We were a group of retired men who were attending the Historic Races at Laguna Seca.
The home was very comfortable and an excellent place to relax & unwind. It was a bit of a long and winding road to drive in but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at this home.
Unfortunately there were fires in the area which detracted from the views but when the wind changed direction it revealed a magnificent view of the valley below.
We would highly recommend this home if you are looking for a great place to get away from it all and relax!
This place is fantastic: the views are just stunning, multiple decks are great, the pool, the hot tub and the fire pit - everything you might need in a mountain retreat and more. And so quiet and private. We took my parents here for a couple of days so that they could have some fun with their grandchildren and we couldn't have picked a better place. We will definitely be back.
I cannot imagine a more stunning view. My friends and I rented the house for a girls' weekend and we were just blown away by the beauty and solace surrounding us. The house is comfortable and well-equipped, and I got to bring my dogs, too! Quick drive to Carmel Valley Village and not far from Carmel by the Sea where we did some serious damage shopping! I plan to be back next year on my birthday again and hopefully before that!!
I enjoyed staying at the Rose house. The outdoor decks and pool have great views of the valley and offer quiet relaxation away from it all. The indoor areas were spacious enough and comfortable for our group. The drive up and down the hill was challenging for city drivers, especially at night.
The property is amazing with gorgeous grounds and thoughtfully placed seating and playing areas for the kids. It's a property designed for relaxation and entertaining - fire pit, hot tub, pool, multi-level decks, etc.... A true slice of serenity. Booking was easy, information was accurate and the house was thoughtfully prepared for us. Take note of the instructions given at booking: it is far into the valley so be prepared for the drive as well as have what supplies you want to limit trips to the store.
Shared this home with our children and grandchildren. While it's a long way up the mountain it's well worth the drive. In every direction there are beautiful views and it's so quiet, you really feel you're in a private place. Everything we needed was at the home (except food). They even had pool toys which our grandkids loved. We took our small dog who loved exploring the grounds and chasing lizards. We had fresh flowers from the perennial garden in every room. We were able to take day trips to the beach and a whale watching excursion. But the grandkids were happiest in the pool, hunting lizards and eating popsicles on the patio deck.
