About The Owner

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.

My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.

Lovely Villa

  • 4 of 5

The villa was rustic and what you would expect of a typical Italian home. It was very comfortable and had everything you could need. We were welcomed by Valentina, and her parents, she explained how everything works. Gabriela had made a very tasty cake, which went down well with the red wine which was also a gift. The views were amazing but with this we found the travel down to Lucca a challenge, the road was very twisty and steep. We did get used to it by the end of the week but it was still a bit difficult. We visited Lucca,Pisa,Florence, San Gimignano and Viareggio, we especially enjoyed Pisa and San Gimignano. We drove to all which worked out fine. I would recommend the villa but not if you do not enjoy driving on narrow, twisting roads.

Wonderful Tuscan Villa in a quaint village

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here with our son, daughter in law and 10 month old grandchild for one week. The villa is a beautifully appointed and well maintained centuries old farmhouse tightly packed in a closely knit hillside village that has its own bar/ grocery store, a mobile visiting produce van every morning , and sits amongst countless olive ( and other) trees. The amenities in the villa , from bedding, to bathroom, to kitchen were all great. It made cooking at home fun. A Baby cot was an expensive add-on for us.Unfortunately our weather was not the best so we had several fires with supplied wood in the cozy living room. Valentina was a huge help in all matters including supplying a discount card at the large grocery store nearby ! The 2.5 Euro wine in returnable bottles from the bar was fantastic. We would definitely return !

My only constructive comments for the owners are as follows: It took us a few days to decipher the who's who- I dealt for booking entirely with Sonia (who was great) through the web site and in part was lead to believe was the owner. On site we dealt with Valentina exclusively who in fact is the daughter of the actual owners ( whom we met , were lovely, gave us cherries and firewood though speak no english). I never met Sonia.

The name of the villa according to a ceramic sign in it is Casa Valentina……not the same as mentioned on VRBO. Finally, garbage pickup is a daily confusion for the renter—there is daily pickup of different items from glass to organic to paper to waste——all colour coded and VERY confusing for the North American——we failed at this one as proven by rejection of pickup at least twice!

Overall- a five star beautiful experience giving us many heart warming memories.

Luxury Lucca Villa in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Sonia and Valentina did an outstanding job making our stay at the villa absolutely superb. Time and again, all week long, Sonia organized activities == teaching us how to make pizza in the 500-year-old stone oven in the rear of the villa, taking us up to meet a blacksmith/artisan whose family forge had been operating for hundreds of years, and connecting us with a local cook who prepard a fantastic Italian meal. In the evenings, we enjoyed a variety of Italian wines looking out over the city lights of Lucca and Florence from the patio. The accommodations were first class -- and there was so much to see and do. Our group of three couples found this the best week in almost 15 years of annual get togethers.

Nice place but...

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at the Villa in July this year for a week. The place was quite difficult to find and as we arrived late we had to find it ourselves. Next time I will get a gps. While out of the way it was very close to a large supermarket where we got most of our food. The owners were very helpful and the place was nice. One issue was at that time of year the vegetation around the Olive groves is cut back. This meant that we had a loud trimmer noise going well into the evening on the hill next to us for at least 3 days of the week we were there. Not particularly relaxing. The other issue was the extra costs of the air-conditioning. We understood there was an extra fee for the AC and when I asked about the people that rented the unit before us I was told they were there for 3 weeks and the cost was around 90 euros for the 3 weeks. We had both AC's in each bedroom on ever night 'til morning, about 12 hours. To my shock the AC cost came to 180 euros for the week. As we were in a rush to the airport I did not argue and paid it.

history and romance

  • 5 of 5

Driving up the "hill" to Villa Pallina you begin to realize that you are entering a slice of Tuscan reality. As you see the farmers tending their gardens or olive trees, the grape vines growing along the hill sides, and the local dogs lounging in the road you know that you are driving to some place special. Our group was immediately in love with the Villa and feel even deeper after hearing of its rich history and the love and romance that it holds within it walls. The views are breath taking and be sure to make the climb behind the Villa to the back side of the hill to be even more pleasantly surprised. The Villa is conveniently located to to many of the must see sites of Italy so get ready for an adventure of a life time. I have rented from Mrs Sonia for several times and I am already in love with her rentals.

Tuscan Villa Vacation

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 2 weeks! Had a good feel for the property and neighborhood. The villa is exactly as described. You know when you arrive, it is special. We, unfortunately, were not able to experience the local bar, as the owner went on vacation himself:( On the downside, not a lot of hot water, (no biggie) and no microwave (no biggie) and didn't have a daily advisor. It was our understanding that Sonia and son would be there, but never met them. Valentina and parents were there when needed.

We did enjoy the property. A car is a must and we did take many day trips to Florence, Pisa, and of course Lucca. Nightly barbecue and patio and pool enjoyment. I would recommend this place to others in need of a private gem of a villa. The rooster and church bells were a comforting daily reminder of Italy!

Car: not necessary

ucca, beautiful city, famous for its monumental 15th century fortified wall. But dig a little deeper and you find that its winding medieval streets actually follow the plan laid out by the Romans in 180BC. And before the Romans, Lucca was one of the major centres of Etruria, the ancient country of central Italy that more or less corresponds to modern Tuscany. Unsurprisingly then, Lucca is steeped in history. Your twelfth century building is just a small part of that. There are museums and churches, and the magnificent cathedral, the Duomo di San Martino, is the town’s finest Romanesque building, its impressive façade a triumph of sculpture, carving and inlay work – at just five minutes’ walk from the apartment. Modern delights include terrific restaurants, bars and shops, all within a few minutes’ walk. In Lucca’s winding streets, the pedestrian comes before the car, so you can move at your own pace. In fact wandering the streets is one of the great pleasures of the city.
