Overview

18th Arrondissement Montmartre Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 1BR + Convertible bed, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The apartment offers a rare view on a charming square planted with spanish oak trees, the “Place Emile Goudeau'. In 1920-40, the building was the furnished “hotel du Poirier” (Pear tree hotel). Many famous guests lived in (MODIGLIANI, Albert CAMUS, Max JACOB …). PICASSO and other painters artists lived across in the “BATEAU LAVOIR”.

This unique apartment sleeps 4. Located at the third floor, it is very bright and has many large windows (four in total). All our guests have enjoyed it very much.

The apartment has been largely renovated in 2012. It is located on the 3rd floor (Fr standard). It offers a living room with 2 large windows, an open kitchen, one bedroom, and a bathroom.

The furniture is a mix of antique wooden French furniture and pictures, and modern pieces as the bed, comfortable convertible sofa and closet.

We are living on the 4th floor, just above. We are here if you need help, but do not worry, we will not be intrusive.

On the left of the building is the 'Abbesses' district, on the right the Old Montmartre village. All the rooms enjoy a view of the square. The area is very safe : we are in the same block as the fruit & vegetable stand featured in the famous movie “Le Destin d’Amélie Poulain”. The Abbesses subway station is 2 mn walk and the Sacre Coeur Church a few hundred yards. Most interesting places in Paris may be reached in 15mn.

As a bonus, Phone calls to land lines in France, and to US, Canada and australia are generaly free. It is also true for more than 50 countries. More over, calls to cell phones towards specific countries (often US & Canada) may also be free. Ask us for detail as it may vary with time and policies of operators.

About The Owner

Just a point, important to us. We decided to rent the apartment on a short-term basis because customers are mainly foreigners. We enjoy meeting foreign people and believe this is a way to meet nice people as well as getting some return on the apartment. We want people to enjoy their stay as much as possible.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2000

Why The Owner chose 18th Arrondissement Montmartre

The apt is on a famous square, formerly called place du Bateau Lavoir, where PICASSO had its studio. We live in Montmartre since 1992 and will never leave the area. Montmartre is really a village. One easily meets people around here. Not like in a big city.

We are living in the apt uptstairs and have bought this other apt with the idea of transforming ours in a duplex once kids will become teenagers.

What makes this apartment unique

We feel on holidays everyday. Light, charm, nice people around, and No cars, No stress.

Great time in Montmartre

  • 5 of 5

I think the success of a vacation is when everyone on the trip wishes that they were staying longer.

The time went so quickly. My two granddaughter (16 and 18) had a great time in Montmartre and the apartment met all of our needs. Having a washer was great, we could have packed less. We used the refrigerator, but so many reasonable Bistros right outside the door of the apartment in such a safe neighborhood, we were often out and were able to go out each night after sightseeing to a local place for drinks or hot chocolate and a snack. The great locale, the inclusion of reliable WiFi and the comfortable beds, made this an easy trip.

My grand-daughters now want me to move to Paris so they can visit. Fun and a great value, I would do this again.

A great time, very comfortable, Thank you for everything.

Felt like a local!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this apartment - the location was perfect - why stay anywhere but Montmartre if Montmartre is an option? - close to metro and shops - the apartment itself was great size for 2 adults for a week - we were able to cook a few meals in and had a cosy little retreat in the evenings. Loved being able to do laundry as well. It felt like being a local, which is exactly what we wanted!

Thanks so much.

Charming Apartment and Location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment has old Paris charm and had all the amenities we required.

The large windows in every room allowed for great light. Such a lovely view of the square down below!

Our stay there was fun and embodied what Montmartre represents. Youth, creativity, joie de vivre. We loved the energy of the place.

The apartment is within minutes of bakeries, cheese shops, gelato shops, charcuteries and other gourmet delights and 4 minute walk from the metro (Abesses station).

The apartment is located across from a well known Montmartre landmark, Le Bateau Lavoir. This was a well known workshop and haunt of famous artists, authors, playwrights, actors in the late 19th century to early 20th century. My favorite modern painter Modigliani used the workshops often and Pablo Picasso created his painting, "Les Demoiselles D'Avignon" here!

Booking with In Beau Paris through Jean Noel is very easy and hassle free. This is our second time booking with him. We look forward to our next visit.

Would stay here again

  • 5 of 5

This is a charming apartment located in a lovely part of Montmartre. The view of the trees and the ability to open the windows wide made for a lovely retreat after a day of touring. Be prepared for the hills and stairs, but the location more than makes up for it. Closely located to all of the shops & restaurants you need to make your stay easy and pleasant. The neighbourhood is wonderful, full of great restaurants (the restaurant at the base of the apartment is excellent!) with good service, a variety shops, and a metro station, making it a great 'home base'.

The apartment was clean (& the photos are accurate), had all the amenities, the shower was hot, and the neighbours were quiet. The bed was comfortable, and at about 1030-1100 pm the square below quieted down, so sleeping soundly was easy. I stayed with my 9 year old son, and the apartment was a lovely place to start and end our days.

Jean Noel was quite easy to deal with, the booking of the apartment went smoothly, retrieving the key was easy, and I received my security deposit back quickly. Jean Noel came to the rescue for a minor issue with the dishwasher - it was dealt with in about an hour, which is pretty amazing.

I would stay here again without hesitation. I hope to return soon.

Lovely and romantic!

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely apartment. The bed is comfortable, the shower is hot, and the small kitchen is a wonderful convenience. The photos of the apartment are accurate. The windows let in lots of natural light and fresh air. As other reviewers have stated, several markets (small grocery store, specialty markets) are nearby. Very easy to use the Metro to get anywhere in Paris! Be ready to climb stairs if you are in Montmartre! We enjoyed this challenge. Helped balance out all the delicious food and drink that we were consuming.

The "business" part of renting the apartment was smooth. Our security deposit was returned quickly. For 2 nights, we were disturbed by nighttime noise in the courtyard below. I sent an email to Jean Noel and received a sincere apology. We were in Paris during an unusual heat wave. My thoughts are that the young people in the city were not ready to go home after the clubs closed! I expect that this is an unusual circumstance and would not be a consideration in the springtime or autumn.

My husband and I (both in our 50s) were very pleased with the apartment. Jean Noel is a trustworthy host. I know that it is nerve-wracking to make international arrangements. We had a very good experience.

Amazing Location

  • 5 of 5

I am happy to provide an excellent review of the apartment "Douis." Our only complaint was that our trip was too short! I hope to be able to return again, and would definitely choose this apartment. Here is some information that I think would be helpful for future/potential renters:

- The location is AMAZING! View of Paris right outside the door is breathtaking. The neighborhood is charming, chic, and friendly. My daughter took a short nap one afternoon with the bedroom window open as she listened to someone playing guitar music from the Place just outside. Very close to Metro. (We are now Metro experts!)

- The apartment is very comfortable. There was more provided than I expected, including an iron, a French press coffee maker, and a hair dryer.
