Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed for our daughter's wedding and found Island Dawn to be the perfect retreat. The house is very well equipped for cooking and even had a margarita maker! The pool and lanai were beautiful and we spent all of our free time relaxing poolside. The location is great - no busy streets to cross and the beaches are perfect. Can't wait to stay again.

Fall Break Bliss

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 had a delightful stay at Island Dawn in mid-October. The home was the perfect layout for my 17mo old to safely run around, and my 7 year old enjoyed her own room and bathroom. The pool was a huge hit and the temp was perfect without needing the heater (outside temps ran 84-87). The house was wonderfully stocked from the kitchen utensils to the beach and pool supplies! Plenty of linens (bathroom towels, pool/beach towels, and sheets.) We loaded up the beach cart daily for the quick walk down to the ocean (only about 5 mins, even for my 7 mo pregnant self!)

WiFi was strong and reliable. Cable and TVs were great. It was so nice having a washer/dryer in the home for keeping up with the laundry. Management company was accomodating and checking in/out were a breeze.

AMI is quaint and quiet and perfect for what we were looking for. Not much in the way of entertainment and restaurants, but we stayed in often for meals since bedtimes were rather early for the kids. The walk to the main drag (Pine Ave) was an easy 3 miles round trip, and we frequently started our morning off at the Donut Experiment (try the cold brewed house coffee!). Even taking on the extra half mile or so down to the pier and other shops was easy! Dinner at the Sandbar was very tasty, and I'd imagine the sunsets would be beautiful from the patio, but we didn't stay late enough to verify!

Preparing for the trip, I did send a few questions to Dawn and she was quick to respond! We had no issues during our stay that warranted any further communication. Thank you for offering up your home!

Great place to stay if you have pets. Very clean and spacious. Lovely pool and patio, and a great covered patio. Loved the beds. Abundance of beach towels

and lots of things to use in the pool. Close to everything....this is our second year for our family of six and we are happy we made the choice to stay at Island Dawn. Management was always helpful when I called. Would stay again....

Great time at Island Dawn!

  • 5 of 5

We (sadly) just returned from the magic of AMI and back to the real world, but can't say enough about Island Dawn!

1st, the house: laid out great for us - we have 3 daughters, two are close in age. They shared one room (twin beds), the third got one master, we took the other. Nice separation between the one master and the other bedrooms, so we got some privacy, living room in the middle. Dinner every evening in the lanai and the missus and I had our morning coffee out there as well. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were well-stocked. Kitchen was well appointed also; the house was everything we needed.

2nd, the pool - Simply put, wonderful. Salt water filter, not chlorine - so easy on the eyes. The heater works, we only used it once but it came in handy for some nightswimming on our last day.

3rd, the location - it took me about 5-ish minutes to walk to the beach, loaded with stuff and wearing flip-flops. Well-placed, close enough to the beach that we spent most of the day there, every day. Wasn't too far for us to retreat back to the house for our...uh, "bio breaks". We also rented a kayak and it was only a few minutes to the 63rd street boat ramp to launch into Bimini Bay.

4th, the beach stuff/garage - WOW. Just wow. I've rented from other places and they all say "we have what you need for the beach". Well, these people have a couple of bikes (and a compressor to fill the tires - hint hint), boogie boards, floating rafts, fishing gear, chairs, umbrellas, kites, a couple of canopies, a big wagon to haul it all, we left a "corkscrew" device to anchor one umbrella (comes in handy!) - WAY above what I expected to find.

5th, the intangibles - again, can't say enough about how great the setup was. Felt like home. We've been to AMI before but their stash of menus turned us to places we'd never visited! Ended up reading some books they had - my wife liked one so much we ended up buying it in the airport! It's quiet at night, peaceful in the morning, had plenty of stuff for misc purposes - tools, appliances, etc.

6th, the owners - everyone says "we're quick to respond" - they walk the walk. I emailed them more than I thought I would and they responded quickly and thoroughly each time, never made me feel like I was badgering them. Very impressive!

This is a long review, hopefully you find it useful. This is a great unit and we look forward to staying there for our future trips to Anna Maria Island!

A wonderful house but the Owners made it great

  • 5 of 5

The house is a very short walk from the beach. Very clean and well appointed.

Our kids loved the "Island Cruiser" Bikes in the garage. There was everything we needed.

The pool was great. Clean and warm.

The AC next to the bed made for a great nights sleep with cool air and all the white noise you could need.

The bathrooms were fine. The closets big and bright. The master closet is not a walk in - it's a walk Through.

The outdoor screened in porch is where we played games which were at the house. Lots of fun!

We did have one HUGE problem. There was construction right next door. 7 AM pounding of hammers and saws. I am sure it's finished now but at the time - UGG!! We notified the owners and they made us an offer that MORE then compensated for the noise. We received quick and respectful apologizes. It was clear that they didn't know the construction was going on. We would ABSOLUTELY rent from them again if we go back. I keep saying that the OWNER makes the rental. This just proves it.

We had a lot of fun going to the fish market and the piers. Took a great sail boat ride and had a wonderful time. Thank you to the owners for being so very respectful to us.

Perfect rental for families!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in July in this rental and it was perfect for us. All 3 bedrooms had comfortable beds and we all had our own bathroom. Everything was clean and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything, you only need to shop for food. They even had a margarita maker! The pool was beautiful and the landscaping and lighting around the pool offered privacy and a great place to hang out after a day at the beach. One of the best features of this house is all the items they have in their garage for you to use. That made our drive from NC way easier because we didn't need to bring anything. They had a large cooler with wheels, a beach cart, noodles, boogie boards, lots of beach chairs, 2 pop up tents, tons of buckets/shovels/sand toys for the kids, beach towels, lots of kites, a cast net for fishing, inflatable rafts, paddle ball, frisbee's and even 2 bicycles! We did have to rent a bike because one of theirs had a flat tire but that's ok. The location is so convenient to Pine Ave where there are tons of shops, places to eat and the best ice cream shop on the island, Two Scoops. We rode the bikes over there a lot to shop and hang out. It took us 10 minutes to ride all the way over to the pier. The walk to the beach is only 2 blocks so that's very convenient and the beach at the end of their street was amazing. There are so many great places to eat on the island, we never had a bad meal but we ate in quite a bit because they have an awesome BBQ gas grill. We went paddle boarding, jet skiing, snorkeling, played putt putt (twice because that was fun) and to the beach every day. It really was the perfect vacation. A must do is going to the Shiny Fish Emporium on Pine Avenue and painting sand dollars for $10. They provide all the brushes, paints, you name it and even ideas for inspiration if you're not sure what to paint. They also put sparkly spray on it to seal it and a gorgeous ribbon to hang it. Great for kids but all of us were 17+ and we had a blast. A great memory keepsake. I highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a great place to stay close to the best beaches and shopping on the island. It was perfect for the 6 of us and would definitely stay here again if we ever went back. PS, it's not far from Tropicana Field so we also took in a Rays game, and they won!!

Great Island Home and Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully decorated home. Loved that it is so close to everything of interest on the island ...beaches, restaurants, groceries, public tennis courts, parks, and sightseeing. The home felt quite spacious and was very clean on arrival. The pool area has a peaceful and private feeling, and the interior living areas are very comfortable and provided a serene setting for my vacation. I had visited this house some years ago, and was amazed at how it has been transformed recently into a wonderful home and fun retreat. I would gladly stay here again.

Anna Maria Island is a relaxing beach community on the Gulf of Mexico. The dining and entertainment options are many, and there are miles of beautiful white beaches to relax or play on. Recreation on the island includes sailing, fishing, parasailing, tennis, golfing, and kayaking. Getting around on the island is easy. You can drive, take the free trolley, walk, bike, or rent a segway scooter. Great shopping is available from the high-end shops at St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota to the outlet mall in Bradenton, with plenty of great local arts and crafts located right here on the island. There are local festivals, local theater, the Mote Marine Aquarium and Ringling Museum of the Circus in Sarasota, Bishop Planetarium in Bradenton, and Grapefruit League baseball in both Bradenton and Sarasota. Disney World and the assorted family parks of Orlando are just two hours away. And there is nothing like a sunset over the Gulf. Anna Maria Island welcomes you home!
