This secluded three-bedroom house with central air conditioning is surrounded by several acres of private land and located on a sand road on the ocean side of Route 6. The house, originally built in 1752 in Connecticut, was dismantled and moved here in the 1970's. It was carefully reconstructed with contemporary amenities. The original 18th century features include a post and beam frame, central chimney, beautifully paneled walls and wide floor boards. New paint, stenciling on the walls, antique furnishings and a lovely yard creates a relaxing atmosphere for your next Outer Cape vacation.
The first floor has a large dining area with traditional fireplace, a modern kitchen, living room and one bedroom. There are two more bedrooms on the second floor (Sleeps 8).
There is a lovely 10 minute walk to Dyer or Long Pond. Both of which are in the National Park. Walking the other direction into Wellfleet Center is about a mile. It's only 2 miles to the Ocean or Bay beaches. A short 15-mile drive to Provincetown.

About Dave Gardner
I have been coming to Wellfleet for as long as I can remember. There is no better place to relax.
Why Dave Gardner chose Wellfleet
My Grandfather was an architect in New York City. He bought an antique Salt Box Cape in Connecticut, took it apart and moved it to this house site in the '70s. He did most of the wooden paneling and finish carpentry himself. It is what people refer to as a First Period colonial salt box.
What makes this House unique
The location is great. Tucked away in a hollow of trees off of a dirt road. It is amazing how quiet and secluded it feels when you are on the patio considering how close you are to Wellfleet Center and Route 6.

We had a wonderful stay. Our 94 year old Mom was comfortable too! We loved this charming home. We look forward to returning, and are thankful to have had the opportunity to stay here.
It is not in South Wellfleet however it is less than 1/2 mile east of the center of town.
Wonderful Stay in a unique and charming historical home
I have stayed at the property three times and really enjoy the home, location, and family who own it. This home is extremely well intended on offering an antique family home experience to visitors...with great charm and cape access...plus with all tasteful modern conveniences (AC/cable)...the property is quiet and spacious so you can enjoy respite from crowds and entertain (if desired)...I really enjoy this home and think anyone who likes traditional or modern cape experiences will too...thank you to the Gardner/Waterbury family for this great offering.
A truly charming retreat!
We loved Waterbury! The house is a one of a kind vacation home, not to be forgotten. We hope on returning next summer for our annual beach retreat.
Favorite vacation home
This was our fourth time staying at this house and it's just perfect! The location is great, close to Long Pond and a short walk to town. Always very clean and welcoming. In the summer you can sit on the front patio and watch hummingbirds as well as an array of other birds! The property is very private while still being very easy to get to. It is a great family vacation house with lots of room and a well appointed kitchen, we don't ever want to leave!
A beautiful property.
The grounds are inviting. We spent evenings on the patio or playing bocce on the lawn. Great bird life. Inside, cozy and beautiful and home-like. There was nothing lacking.
The house was even nicer than we expected.
The house was even nicer than we expected. It had pretty much everything one would need, including a powerful air conditioning system which we were grateful for given the heat/humidity during our stay. The outdoor shower was a treat - but the number one feature is the location - a very short run through the woods to the kettle ponds.... which quickly became a morning routine.....
Our house is situated on a quiet, sandy road that is just outside the National Seashore Park. There is a beautiful one mile walk into the National Park to Dyer pond. Dyer is a pristine, freshwater kettle pond with a public beach only accessible by foot traffic -- it is a great beach to spend the afternoon.
The Ocean beaches and the Harbor are both about two miles away in opposite directions. Downtown Wellfleet is about a mile and offers excellent restaurants, cafes and nightlife as well as window shopping and art galleries. Wellfleet is a truly a perfect seaside vacation town.
