Antique house with beautiful, private gardens a short walk to Long Pond

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

Minimum Stay
3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 enclosed outdoor shower, sleeps 8

This secluded three-bedroom house with central air conditioning is surrounded by several acres of private land and located on a sand road on the ocean side of Route 6. The house, originally built in 1752 in Connecticut, was dismantled and moved here in the 1970's. It was carefully reconstructed with contemporary amenities. The original 18th century features include a post and beam frame, central chimney, beautifully paneled walls and wide floor boards. New paint, stenciling on the walls, antique furnishings and a lovely yard creates a relaxing atmosphere for your next Outer Cape vacation.

The first floor has a large dining area with traditional fireplace, a modern kitchen, living room and one bedroom. There are two more bedrooms on the second floor (Sleeps 8).

There is a lovely 10 minute walk to Dyer or Long Pond. Both of which are in the National Park. Walking the other direction into Wellfleet Center is about a mile. It's only 2 miles to the Ocean or Bay beaches. A short 15-mile drive to Provincetown.

A truly charming retreat!

We loved Waterbury! The house is a one of a kind vacation home, not to be forgotten. We hope on returning next summer for our annual beach retreat.

Favorite vacation home

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth time staying at this house and it's just perfect! The location is great, close to Long Pond and a short walk to town. Always very clean and welcoming. In the summer you can sit on the front patio and watch hummingbirds as well as an array of other birds! The property is very private while still being very easy to get to. It is a great family vacation house with lots of room and a well appointed kitchen, we don't ever want to leave!

A beautiful property.

  • 5 of 5

The grounds are inviting. We spent evenings on the patio or playing bocce on the lawn. Great bird life. Inside, cozy and beautiful and home-like. There was nothing lacking.

The house was even nicer than we expected.

  • 5 of 5

The house was even nicer than we expected. It had pretty much everything one would need, including a powerful air conditioning system which we were grateful for given the heat/humidity during our stay. The outdoor shower was a treat - but the number one feature is the location - a very short run through the woods to the kettle ponds.... which quickly became a morning routine.....

Wellfleet stunner

  • 4 of 5

This is an absolutely stunning character filled cottage that made our memorial day exactly that- memorial! It was like walking into your grandma's home, with everything adding to the ambiance of the place. The antique furniture and nicnacks, extremely comfortable beds, cleanliness, fully stocked pantry, fridge and all the books, magazines and little touches made our stay perfection. The bad weather gave us the opportunity to relax in front of the open fire, then when the sun came out we got to explore the beautiful gardens. Close to everything but set back off the road so we had no traffic noise at all, it was truly lovely and convenient. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of a stand up shower in the upstairs bathroom- while there is a hand held shower over the bath tucked under the eaves we ended up using the bathroom downstairs to shower in.(we're not used to a sit-down shower). The retention of the character of the house more than made up for this one tiny inconvenience though. I would definitely recommend this house to others, and hope to be back for a longer stay soon :)

Our house is situated on a quiet, sandy road that is just outside the National Seashore Park. There is a beautiful one mile walk into the National Park to Dyer pond. Dyer is a pristine, freshwater kettle pond with a public beach only accessible by foot traffic -- it is a great beach to spend the afternoon.

The Ocean beaches and the Harbor are both about two miles away in opposite directions. Downtown Wellfleet is about a mile and offers excellent restaurants, cafes and nightlife as well as window shopping and art galleries. Wellfleet is a truly a perfect seaside vacation town.
