Overview

Lake George Area House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 10-14), Large deck, Stone Firepit

A charming 2 story home in Bolton Landing that is easy walking distance to everything, beach, boats, bars, restaurants, etc. Bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, etc are all new. New fire pit and sitting wall installed in 2013 and new 12'x12' deck off of kitchen built in 2015. You couldn't ask for a better location on Lake George and the house is immaculate and modern, but built for a family friendly getaway. With central A/C, everyone in your family will stay comfortable even on those hot summer days.

Total of two Queen beds, a full sized futon and three twin bunk beds, offers comfortable sleeping arrangements for 12 adults. Additionally, there is plenty of room upstairs if you want to bring air mattresses or cribs to accommodate more and there are couches on both the 1st and 2nd floor dens. We also supply two twin AERO airbeds to use upstairs.

We have high speed wired and wireless internet, Cable TV with multiple flat screen televisions, a private serene backyard with a river running through it and beautiful views of Lake George in the front. The house has all the modern amenities you would have in your home and then some. All new bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, windows, etc

If you like Spas or fine dining, it's an easy walk to the Sagamore Hotel.

The town of Bolton Landing is about 1 mile from end to end on Route 9N. Our house is located at the Northern end of the town, right near the Sagamore hotel, the Bolton Landing public beach and the Grand Union Shopping center. Bolton Landing is located at the widest part of Lake George, just south of where the islands begin at the Narrows. There are many places to rent boats or to launch and dock your own boat or jet ski. At night, you can find the best restaurants such as the Algonquin or the Sagamore on the lake walking distance away. After dinner, there are candy and ice cream shops that you can walk to with the kids. After the kids go to sleep, you can walk to one of the many lakeside bars with live bands. Bolton is the ultimate getaway location and our house couldn't be in a better place. It's close enough to walk to anything and it's quiet enough to escape it all.

The Sagamore Hotel is one of the nicest spas in the Northeast and it's located a short beautiful walk from the house. While I'm out sailing with the kids, my wife loves to get pampered at the Sagamore. They are a full spa located on the most picturesque piece of land on Lake George.

Veteran's Memorial Park Beach

Just one block south of the house on Route 9N (Main Street / Lakeshore Drive), you will find Veteran's Memorial Park in Bolton Landing where there is also a public beach. Visitors can swim from 7:00 am - 10:00 pm and must pay $5 for parking. Because you can walk there, there is no charge for you and your family and friends to visit and stay on this beautiful beach. There is also enough dock space at the beach for a bunch of boats to use at no charge, should you want to rent a boat and drive home for lunch.

Winter:

The house has central heating and is fully insulated with new windows, so it is a great 4 season house. Gore Mountain, West Mountain, Hickory Mountain and Whiteface are all easy day trips from the house for those that like to ski. Also, once the lake freezes over, Winterfest kicks off and there are thousands of people that take their ATVs and snow mobiles out on the lake for daily cruises as well as for the organized races on the southern part of the lake. Snow shoeing up Buck Mountain is also a great winter hike that's right near the house and has spectacular views. Please note that many of the local restaurants and shops close down in the winter time as Lake George is mostly a summer town.

About The Owner

I grew up on Long Island and moved Upstate NY to the Capital Region in the 90s. Although I missed the LI Sound and Jones Beach, I soon fell in love with Lake George.

The Owner purchased this house in 2009

Why The Owner chose Lake George Area

I love the town of Bolton Landing and I always wanted a house there. The house was located perfectly in the town so that it was just outside of the town traffic, but close enough to walk to everything. I'm also a big skiier and the fact that it was easy driving distance for day trips to Gore and Whiteface satisfied my need for having both a ski home and a lake home. The sounds of the stream running through the back yard are the only thing you hear when you sit outside and that clinched it for me. The house needed some work, but I knew once completed it would be my perfect lake and ski vacation home.

Happy Family in Bolton Landings!

  • 5 of 5

What a great home!! Everything you need for a fantastic family vacation. My only wish is that it were a little further away from the street but even that was not an issue.

This place was clean, centrally located in a charming town.

Can't wait to return!

Had a wonderful experience staying here for the weekend with a group of 12 friends.

Everything was well organized, clean and welcoming.

Nothing, but positive experience all around.

Home worked great for group of 7 adults & two kids

  • 4 of 5

Home was exactly as its PR said. Ample space for a large family. Especially we enjoyed the new deck off the dining room with seating for six (additional to the indoor seating for eight), and also the fire-pit area behind the cottage. This allowed another family on the lake to share meals and evenings with us. Easy access to the public beach & docks was another asset. Owner was super responsive via e-mail.

Fantastic Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

It's difficult to find a place with space that will sleep 15 people at a reasonable cost so we felt very lucky to find this home in Bolton Landing. It was clean and well kept with enough linens and dishes for all. The large table and island we perfect for family gatherings an the deck on the side was great for morning coffee. We also enjoyed the fire pit in back for roasting marshmallows. The entry system made it easy to come and go as we didn't all do the same activities at the same time. We were also pleased to find it close to all we wanted to do on this family vacation - whitewater rafting, the Adirondack Xtreme Park, swimming, hiking, golf, shopping, charter boat fishing, and horseback riding. We even all went to the Sagamore and had a drink on one of their decks which afforded us another fantastic view of gorgeous Lake George.

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bolton Landing and loved this house. The property is across the street from the basketball and volleyball courts and has great beach access with a short walk to town. It is also located 20 minutes from almost everything you want to do from attractions, restaurants, boat rentals, water park etc. We had 3 families for a total of 9 people and it had plenty of space for us all. The house was fully stocked with appliances and linens were provided. My only wish is that it was a little further away from the main street and that the backyard area near the fire pit was a little safer for smaller children. Nonetheless, we all had fun gathering around the fire pit to roast marshmallows and continued to enjoy the fire once the little ones were in bed. The owner was very responsive and easy to talk with. Definitely recommend renting this house.

All's well that ends well

  • 3 of 5

We did not have the best arrival experience to this location. We had been planning this trip for over a year and after seeing great reviews I was not too concerned about anything going into the girls' weekend to celebrate my best friend getting married. I flew in from out of town and a few of the girls who were more local drove in and arrived before me. They arrived about 15 minutes prior to check-in and found the cleaning lady was still there (totally fine--they were early). Unfortunately, when she left right at check-in time, they found the sheets that were put on the beds to still be damp, along with the towels left on the beds. The girls also did not think the house had been cleaned well and spent the next two hours re-cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen prior to our. As soon as they let me know this had happened while we were driving from the airport, I called and emailed the owner (it was around 6pm). I emailed him again later that evening, wondering what would have been the case if my emails or phone calls were more urgent than a not-so-clean arrival--if we had been locked out and unable to get in I hope in retrospect he would have gotten back to me sooner than the next day around 2pm. The dishwasher was also broken and smelled of rotten food. All in all, the arrival was far from good. When the owner did finally get back in touch with me, he agreed that we should not be charged a cleaning fee and reimbursed us for that, as it seems the prior renters did a number on the house and his cleaning lady truly did not have enough time to take care of thoroughly cleaning the whole house after they left it very messy. The grill had also not been cleaned since its last use--not something you want to clean up after. There were two coffee pots -- neither of which functioned well -- the Keurig leaked and the basic coffee pot was falling apart. The house needed a pretty deep clean even after the cleaning lady and my girlfriends worked on it--there were mosquitoes stuck to the walls and the carpets were stained.

Despite these issues--the house was in an awesome location, although much closer to the main road than it looks in pictures. For the location alone, the house is worth it. It slept a bunch of people and the fire pit was AWESOME! The bride-to-be was thrilled with the weekend overall, which was obviously very important to me. As the planner and payer, however, I had a hard time with the cleanliness of the house & the delay in the owner's follow up to me.

Owner's Response: Lindsay, Wow, I am truly sorry that your experience was not up to our usual standards. In 4 years of renting, yours is the first and hopefully only review of less than 4 stars. I wish there was something I could do or say that could have made your stay better but I am at least glad to hear your stay ended well. I would also like to respond to a couple of your complaints. 1. Your friends showed up an hour before check-in and because of that my cleaning person rushed making the beds with sheets that probably weren't 100% dry. This is why we try and keep to a strict check-in time and going forward we will do better in enforcing that. 2. The dishwasher was discovered as being broken by my cleaning person before you arrived as it apparently broke on the previous renters and they never told me. I immediately called a repair person and had it rush fixed at a cost of $300. 3. I refunded you 100% of the cleaning fee as well as the full security deposit because I felt bad you were unhappy, even though I paid my cleaning person because it wasn't her fault for being forced out of the house before she was done. Anyway, I am truly sorry and I have talked to my cleaning person and we have agreed that going forward we will use two sets of sheets for all the beds so that she can put clean dry sheets on the beds much earlier in the cleaning process and if necessary bring the wet sheets to her home to finish for the next renters if people show up early. I take great pride in making sure to keep up with all the repairs as well as keeping the house looking like new for every renter and clearly we didn't deliver on that promise for your stay. I will try and learn from this and make sure we never receive any reviews of less than 4 stars again by exceeding people's expectations. Thanks and I hope you will come back again, Brian.

Bolton Landing Beach is across the street

Our home is located right on the Corner of Lake Shore Drive (Route 9N) and N Brook Lane. Route 9N is the main street that takes you from the Lake George Village to Bolton Landing. Our home has nice lake views in the front and a beautiful treed look over a river in the back and side of the house that feeds into Lake George. Just one block away is an easy walk to the scenic Bolton Landing Public Beach with docking for boats or Sagamore road, which is where the famed Sagamore resort is located. Just past Sagamore road is where all the restaurants and shops begin. The house is perfectly located so that during prime season you can walk to beaches, ice cream, pizza, restaurants and shops. The LG Village and water parks are about a 15 minute drive South. For those that want to ski or snowmobile, the house is in between exits 23 and 24 on the Northway, the same exit that Gore Mountain is located. Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid is exit 28 off of the Northway.
