Oceanfront one bedroom duplex cottage 150 yards from a secluded beach. You will be within a short walk to the longest white sand beach in Hawaii. You will be treated to a gorgeous sunset every night either from the privacy of your own lanai or you can take the short stroll and enjoy the sunset on the beach. A great place to get away from it all and relax.
The unit has one bedroom with a king size bed and and a convertible bed in the living room. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and microwave. The complex also has gas operated barbecues. You can dine in the inside dining area or outside on the lanai.
Sliding doors open the living room onto the lanai to pleasantly bring your ocean view into the cottage.
My wife and have both lived in Hawaii but missed what we thought of as the old Hawaii. Then we found Molokai! This is truly a great place to get away from it all. There are no stop lights on the island and no structure taller than a coconut palm. Molokai is called the 'Friendly Isle' for good reason as visitors soon find out. We look forward to every visit to Molokai.
While the resort looks like something out of "Lost," that is the beauty of staying here. The long beaches were gorgeous and empty and we even saw a monk seal sunning itself one day. The pool was clean and lovely and I gained so much respect for the people of this island who refuse to let it become commercial.
The cottage itself was definitely old and not top of the line (but check out the price!!!!) I stayed with my 2 boys and it was perfect (and no bed bugs). If you are looking for a fancy romantic getaway, this may not be for you, but my 2 children and I had a blast on the beach, exploring Kaunakakai, going to the overlook, and grilling fresh mahi.(My 10 year old slept on the pull out sofa bed and I slept with my 7 year old in the comfy king size bed in the bedroom. There were only 4 towels so maybe you will want to bring your own. But this was offset by how amazing Mike (the owner) was when I had questions about how things worked (like the shower).
This place is a gem.
We enjoyed our stay at your Kepuhi Beach Cottage. The sunsets were amazing and the sound of the surf lulled us to sleep each night. Every thing was in order, we liked the attention to detail, such as the reading lights, extra hangers , comfortable lanai furniture and the good WIFI. The Grounds are nicely kept and your neighbors are very friendly. We especially enjoyed the fragrant flowers by your front door.
PS The grass-fed meat from the Molokai Livestock Cooperative was great so we made good use of the Grill in front of your place.

The walk out lanai to a green lawn gives extra expanse to this roomy 1br. This unit is clean and well-appointed. Easy for us to spend time here enjoying the ocean. Very nicely tiled bath and well equipped kitchen. Meals on the lanai right by the ocean. Sounds of the surf at night. We used the king size bed and fold-out sofa for three nites. Were there in mid October and had no problems. Very nice sleeping with surf sounds and cool breeze. It can get cool in the early morning, so the extra bed linens and covers supplied come in handy. You will need a car, only a sundries shop nearby. But once you are stocked with supplies you will not want to leave.
Just wanted to say, family of four, here for seven nights already-no bed bugs, no bites. Location, view, privacy, walk to surf unsurpassed. Condo could use a little tender loving care, a little fixing up, but we have been very comfortable. This is the third condo we have stayed in here and so far my favorite.
The place has bedbugs. My wife and I each got over 50 bites while in bed.
Sad to say it appears the owner isn't going to do anything about it. He says we were bitten by sand fleas. I'm convinced he's mistaken -- the bites we got and the bug feces we found indicate bedbugs. But even if he's right, it hardly matters. There are biting insects in the bed. The insects bite at night while the occupants sleep. The bites itch so much that they hurt. So, prospective renters, your upside (if the owner is correct) is that you will be covered by painful sand flea bites, instead of painful bedbug bites.
I'd be inclined to tone down this review if it appeared that the owner was going to address the biting insect problem, but based on our e-mail exchanges, it appears he will instead deny that there is a problem.
The place needs a good cleaning. Superficially it is reasonably clean, but otherwise there is a lot of dirt. For instance, if you are 6 feet two inches or taller you will see the top of the fridge standing flatfooted. It had months, maybe years, of accumulated dirt. Same problem if you need to plug in a laptop and have to reach behind the desk to do that. I pointed out the lack of cleanliness to the owner and he didn't respond to that point. I could live with the dirt, truth be told, if it weren't for the bedbugs.
I see the earlier reviewer mentioned that a smoke alarm was beeping. The reason the alarms didn't beep for us is that they were completely disabled and taken apart. I suppose that's only a real problem if there is a fire, but I think it does say something about the lack of maintenance.
Sorry but I can't recommend this place.
Unobstructed view/walk to the surf. Wake to the sound of tropical birds; turkeys, Mynas, Red crested cardinals and lots more made their regular rounds each day. Condo is spacious and has good shower, kitchen and king size bed. Internet is not easy to get onto and smoke alarm was beeping that it needed new battery. But it was easy to unplug from civilization and just listen to the surroundings. You definitely need to rent a car but the remote locale is worth it. Very private.
