We spent 5 weeks last summer at this beautiful property, which offers privacy, quiet, and spectacular views. The photographs do not do this extremely comfortable and exquisitely set home – with wraparound terrace and stairs leading down to its own private beach - justice.
We are an older couple with a college age son, who was spending the summer in Boston. He came to visit us on weekends while my husband and I delighted in kayaking off the property, taking long walks on the Shining Sails bicycle path close bye, cooking in the well equipped kitchen, and swimming at the private beach, which is empty even at the height of summer and only a short walk from the house. We particularly enjoyed quiet mornings sipping coffee on the deck, listening to the gulls; washing our hair in the outdoor shower after a late afternoon swim, and dinners on the deck as we watched the sunset. The views throughout the home– including from the master bedroom -are fantastic. We often spent our days outside on the deck, reading on the comfortable lounge chairs and feeling as though we were miles from neighbors and had the extraordinary vista that surrounded us all to ourselves.
Another key attraction for us, besides the convenience of the beautiful private beach within walking distance was being so close to excellent shopping and restaurants. Falmouth (a 15 minute drive away) offers a fabulous French bakery with the best baguettes and croissants this side of Paris as well as a similar quality fish store and gourmet shop. The house’s owners could not be more accommodating. We hope very much to return.
We stayed here in April and previously, and highly recommend vacationing at this lovely house.
The house sits on top of a bluff, so you look down on the bay. This provides a stunning perspective from the first and second floor windows and the deck. From the second floor bedrooms, you see more of the water, so it looks closer for some reason.
The private association beach is an easy (5-10 minute) walk, which was very convenient with our toddler. It is a lovely sandy long beach. You can also swim from the beach in front of the house at high tide (where we put in the kayak) or off of the jetty beach at low tide.
We did a major day-long hike on the Shining Sea Bikeway to Woods Hole and back one day and had a blast. Along the way there was a sandy beach, and several water/pond/marsh overlooks with benches. Loved lunch at Pie In The Sky Bakery in Woods Hole. Popovers! Mmmmmm. Excellent java at Coffee Obsession. Also stopped at the Science Aquarium in Woods Hole, and a churchyard with a very interesting stone tower and garden near Eel Pond.
There are two bicycles in the garage, which we rode on a previous visit, and made for a much quicker trip to Woods Hole. (Maybe 45 minutes?)
The home was spotless and the owner's description of everything is accurate.
This bright, sunny home is very well located off a quiet, private lane and overlooks the water from an elevated perch. Stunning views of West Falmouth Harbor from every window and fabulous sunsets provided a wonderful backdrop to our evening cocktails on the deck. Private stairs lead down to the beach below for an early morning walk or a gentle paddle on the harbor. There is a private beach just a short walk away, either along the shore below the house or down a quiet lane. Area beaches can be quite busy in the summer so having access to the association beach is a real plus.
The nearby Shining Sea bikepath runs more than 10 miles from North Falmouth to Woods Hole, passing much scenic conservation land along the way. For those who like to hike, there is the Bourne Farm in West Falmouth, Beebee Woods in Falmouth, the Knob in Woods Hole and the Audubon Ashumet Holly Wildlife Sanctuary out towards Mashpee, all a short drive away.
This is a comfortable and very well situated home.
Our family often vacations on the Cape, and we have always enjoyed our stays. But, this is the first time that we were sad to return back to Boston! We enjoyed the house, the views, the privacy and conservation land. Indeed we felt like being at home. This is a very comfortable house, the beach is close by,and we spent a lot of the time on a wonderful deck. The owners were very accommodating and friendly. We are looking forward to stay here again.
The location of this property is absolutely ideal - minutes to the market, the bike path, and the library!
Access to the FABULOUS beach is ideal, and you can even take a dip at the bottom of the steps.
The home was exactly as promised - clean, beautiful, and well supplied with towels, sheets etc.
The kayak was an extra special! We really enjoyed having it .
The deck, with the view to the ocean made every day special.
Anyone looking to rent in West Falmouth would be exceeding
happy with this property.
We had a fabulous vacation. The house is great. The open concept is ideal and makes it pleasant to prepare meals even on vacation! We loved being able to walk down to the beach. My son still naps in the afternoon, so one adult would stay at the house while the others went to relax by the water (because it's a bay, the water is warmer and we enjoyed swimming there). The family room on top of the garage was an ideal bedroom for my son; it's secluded so we did not have to worry about making noise (the house is vary spacious). The location is perfect: Woodneck beach is 5 minutes away and you are close to restaurants and a bike trail. Gorgeous views: loved waking up to the ocean and sitting on the patio. Drawbacks: no a/c, poor drainage from the bathtub upstairs, no formal patio set to eat outdoors. The owner was so pleasant and accommodating. We appreciated that every bathroom had toilet paper, kleenex and hand soap and that basic essentials such as dish soap, coffee filters, sponges, garbage bags, laundry detergent,... were there when we arrived. We are most thankful to the owner for going to the trouble of mailing us our fish grills that we had forgotten.
