About the property

2 bedrooms, and 1 bath, Sleeps 6 max.

Stay in this charming 2 bedroom, 1 bath home, just steps from the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and ocean! This home was once an actual Whaling cottage, located directly on the beach. It was later pulled up with logs and mules to the location now. It has recently been remodeled to today's standards. New furniture in Living Room for 2016 season. The main bedroom has a queen bed (new mattress for 2015), the 2nd bedroom has a queen bed (new for 2017) , and a single with a trundle (2 twins). Newly renovated bathroom with tile surround, floor, and glass shower doors, elongated toilet.

Enjoy your morning cup of coffee on the front enc./screened in porch. The cottage is maintained and cleaned weekly by the owners, so ALL is kept to the high standards you need on vacation. The living room has a TV/DVD-cable television. There is a stereo/radio/i-pod/i phone system.

The large eat-in kitchen is supplied with quality cooking supplies for your use. There is a Weber charcoal grill for those barbecue days!! Barbecue tools are supplied in the kitchen to clean, flip, or grab with tongs, to make cooking easier.

The back porch is a great place to serve the children lunch when coming up from the beach for a break.

This cottage is 2 blocks from the arcade/rides -and 4-5 blocks to the center of town (Rehoboth Ave). You could not ask for a better spot. It is far enough fr. the busy center, BUT, close enough to walk to everything. The location is quiet. ALSO, CK OUT OUR LISTINGS (AT OCEAN BLK ALSO) UNDER VRBO---LISTING NUMBERS, #209495- w/OCEAN VIEW, and #401558, AND #178079

Ocean and Boardwalk: You can walk five doors away to set your feet on the boardwalk and beach.

If you want to take a break, and go back to eat lunch, just leave you chairs and beach blanket, and head back --no one seems to bother anything, and you will still have your reserved spot on the beach after you are finished your lunch, etc.

You also can chose to go on the boardwalk to grab a wrap, pizza, fries, whatever, without walking far.

There are beach umbrella rentals and chairs everyday.

Center of Rehoboth Beach: The main street -Rehoboth Ave-is just 4-5 blocks away. You can go shopping, eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner without going far.

2 blocks from the duplex, are the rides and arcades, located on the boardwalk. Miniature golf is also located on the boardwalk. There are places to purchase beach chairs, sand toys, etc.

The post office, library, and convention center are all on Rehoboth Avenue.

Restaurants: Visit the famous Nicola Pizza and try their famous Nicoboli--the best!!

Grotto's, is another famous, and well enjoyed pizza place.

Dos Locos for great Mexican Food.

Go Fish on Rehoboth Ave has the best fish and chips.

Summer House for All American Food-on Rehoboth Ave

Oyster House great for seafood.

For lunch try the Arenas for some great sandwiches.

Fin Bar-across from Lingo Building (big yellow bldg)-great seafood!

About Owner

My husband and I moved here in 1999 into the rental business/handyman business. We are only minutes away from our beach rental so there are no worries if you need something. We have two lovely grown children. One child is married -w/no grandchildren-(just grand dogs!), and our other child is still single. We love meeting our guests and doing everything possible to make them happy.

Owner purchased this condo in 1999

Why Owner chose Rehoboth Beach

This vacation rental cannot be beat-It is 4 buildings back from the ocean and boardwalk. We are on a nice wide street-quiet because not near the crowded center of town and the rides, BUT, close enough to walk to everything--just park the car and walk to all. If you are at the beach and need to eat lunch, use the restroom, etc. just leave your blanket and chair and come back whenever. No one seems to touch anything (do not leave money or valuables just in case). Watch out for the tide coming in!!! We have left our house pretty original with a few upgrades such as, it has a newer kitchen with modern amenities, new bathroom, and great furniture. It also has the original hardwood floors.

What makes this condo unique

CLOSE to EVERYTHING!!! Great for children----Quiet part of South Rehoboth!!!---Park your car and never move it again!!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Another great week in Rehoboth!! We have been coming here since 2004 and love the unit, the beach, boardwalk, and most importantly reconnecting with friends who stay in the other apartments. The ocean was calm this week, but Aydan still enjoyed a lot of wave riding. Makenna and Dad played paddle ball-our record was 7. Mom and Aydan were the skee ball champs. We cannot wait until next year to return. Hopefully, Me Me and Peeps will be back next year!! Thanks

Great property in prime location!

  • 5 of 5

The Whaling Cottage was exactly what I was looking for in Rehoboth! The location was steps from the beach with a view of the ocean from the front, screened in porch. It was also only a short walk to Main Street, which was perfect. The property was well kept and the owners were very friendly. It was really nice to stay so close to everything, but still have all of the amenities of home. I would certainly recommend the Whaling Cottage to others!

Happy Week at Rehoboth

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at many places in the original part of Rehoboth, but this was our first year in the Whaling Cottage. We will absolutely stay here again, we had a fantastic week in this cottage! This cottage is very convenient to the beach and boardwalk, so we were able to venture out many times together or separately, which is more difficult when you stay further away from the beach/boardwalk. The front porch is friendly and fun, and although there are a lot of rentals on the street, it was very quiet day and night.

Although the ceilings are low, which can be expected in an historic house such as this (and mind you, we have 6'3" and 6"5" family members), this is not only a charming historic home, but it is well maintained and CLEAN. We never once saw an insect (save for a fly we let in the door). The beds were comfy, everything was CLEAN, well-stocked, and they even have a few chairs, umbrellas, and books to borrow. There is an outdoor (shared) shower which was a nice option we used most of the time. We were aware of the other three occupants, but didn't really run into them very much at all. It's clear that the owners appreciate their little historic home and care about their renters. We've already recommended it to others and will definitely stay there our next visit.

Owner's Response: Dear Pam-Thank you so much for submitting a great review for us. Also, thank you for pointing out things about our historic, "Whaling Cottage." Yes, the ceilings are low, but I guess us humans are no longer short, like years ago!! We really try to make sure ALL of our guests are comfortable, and to let them know they can call out to us if need be. We are very close to our rental, which makes for problems to be fixed asap, if possible. Take care/stay healthy--hope to see you again.

Nice cottage, steps from the beach

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is exactly as described and as shown in the photos. The house is divided into two rentals -- an upper floor and a lower floor -- and this listing describes the lower floor unit. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other has a full size bed plus a twin and trundle (can sleep 4 total).

The location is great, about 1 min walk (along a sidewalk, no need to cross any streets) to the beach at the end of the street, 3 min walk to Funland, and 5 min walk to the center of Rehoboth Beach (near the gazebo). An off-street parking spot behind the house is included with the rental, but you won't need a car to get to the beach or to eat -- only if you're going farther afield.

The kitchen has the expected appliances plus plates, cups, utensils, etc. The living room has a TV with DVD player, and there is wifi in the unit. Some board games, books, and DVDs are available to pass the time. As an added bonus for us, there were beach toys in mesh bags and kites available for use, so we didn't even have to get out our own. Everything was clean and in excellent condition.

The owners were very nice and were pleasant to deal with. Overall, I would easily recommend this rental to anyone, and I would be happy to stay here again on a future trip to Rehoboth Beach.

Owner's Response: Dear Ravi and Family-We loved having you stay at the Whaling Cottage. We both loved seeing, and speaking, to the children. It is so nice to see such great parents and their children interacting. So well behaved and smart little cookies!! Brings back memories. We hope to see you again in the near future. Here's to good health, and happiness, for you and your family. Thanks again

Great Late-Summer Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time we rented a beach house and we made a great choice! The location with two little kids (3y and 6m) couldn't have been better and the house setup was perfect for our family. Everything we could possibly need was provided, including Cindy purchasing a bed rail prior to our arrival for our son to safely sleep there. The hospitality was excellent and we hope to stay here again!

This was our third year and of course we LOVED it!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 3rd stay. Our kids (6 and 3) became more adventurous this year and spent a lot of time in the ocean. The location being so close to the beach is always a win for me as I'm the poor guy carrying it all down. It's great that they provide a few beach items so it is one less thing to pack from home. See you next year!
