About Owner

Our family has always enjoyed the NC Mountains! From the cooler temps in the summer to the breathtaking beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains in the fall, there is always a reason to visit. What better place to rest and relax than the NC Mountains and when it's time to get a Christmas tree, it's a family tradition to go to one of the many local tree farms and cut our fresh tree down and take in a hay ride while we're there! Shopping in downtown Blowing Rock is always a favorite for us-it offers one of a kind shops and restaurants (check out Kilwins for great fudge and ice cream), a great playground for the kids, a cozy library and the outlet shopping can't be beat!

Why Owner chose North Carolina

We have been looking for the perfect mountain escape for a while and were THRILLED to come upon this wonderful cabin. It has always been our dream to own a home in the High Country and boy did we find the 'dream cabin.' Deer Hollow, as it is named, is convenient to everything but yet offers all the privacy and beauty of what we wanted in a second home...not to mention the gorgeous views! We hope that you will find our cabin to be the perfect getaway for you and your family.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The cabin was everything as described and Jeanna was very receptive and answered all our questions. We were really happy with everything and the cabin was clean and exactly what we hoped it would be in terms of location, value and space for our two families. The hot tub and decor was nice and Jeanna was a great host. It was really windy getting up to the cabin but this made sense once we saw the privacy. So nice to be in your own private mountain cabin in the woods. Beautiful!

Overall, the cabin was okay. Pros: quiet and secluded, very nice hot tub overlooking the hills and woods, very nicely decorated for the holidays. Cons: far from almost everything other than downtown Boone, no long range view, kitchen is not at all equipped to handle 5 adults, sound travels easily through the house, high price tag. We rented this cabin for Christmas and New Years hoping that with the money we were spending it would be everything we were looking for. The most frustrating thing about this cabin is that the kitchen was not usable for a family of 5. This cabin is listed as able to comfortably sleep 8 people and is said to include a fully stocked kitchen. This simply was not the case. Every meal had to be cooked in two pots/pan, there were two spices in the spice cabinet, and there were no good cooking knives. This made cooking each night quite a struggle. We also assumed there would be paper towels, napkins, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, spare toilet paper, etc. though none of these were included. Considering the premium price tag I expected much more.

Owner's Response: Wow- I'm sorry your stay wasn't as expected Cara...esp during the holidays. I wish you would have reached out to me during your time there with these concerns so I could have made sure you had what you needed- I never heard from you. :( I can honestly say since 2009 when we opened the cabin on VRBO that this is the first less than happy renter we've had. We will take your feedback and make sure we have items you've listed restocked in the kitchen so that future renters don't have the same problem you had. Renters do get paperwork that provides a list of what we supply and what the renter needs to bring- it states in there that you are responsible for your own paper products. We do not keep the kitchen stocked with spices and food- any that is there was left by past renters for your convenience. As for proximity to things- we are 15 min to Blowing Rock and 8-10 to Boone as advertised. Our goal is to always have happy guests. The cabin is an open floor plan so sound will travel some and we try hard to have the pictures depict the views and floorplan.

Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the cabin during our recent stay. It was nicely appointed, spacious, and had everything we needed. Though relatively close to Hwy 105 and convenient, it still felt very remote and very quiet. The kids enjoyed the lower level games and me and my wife enjoyed the top level master, it's size and seclusion. Jeanna was especially attentive, easy to work with, and very quick to respond. It's helpful to note there is a gravel drive to the cabin that would definitely require 4WD or chains in inclement weather.

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 8 wonderful days at Deer Hollow and had an amazing time. This was our third year in a row in Boone and this was by far the best appointed cabin we've stayed in. Plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids, great TV's, wifi and everything you could want in a kitchen. We could spread out, relax in the hot-tub or go exploring up the mountain. The location is perfect...make a left to Valle Crucis, Banner Elk or Linville...or make a right and head to Boone or Blowing Rock. It did rain a lot during our trip and after the rain the grill wouldn't light. It took me 30 seconds to find a lighter which shows Jeanna has thought of everything! We didn't have any issues during our stay but the communication from Jeanna was perfect and we knew if we had any issues they'd be resolved immediately. Make sure you venture out to Upper Creek Falls, Dan'l Boone Inn, Casa Rustica, Troys Diner, Locals, and Docs Rocks!

Beautiful and very Peaceful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we walked into the cabin we were just very pleased. The pictures on the website definitely do not show the real beauty of the rental. It is beautifully decorated, very clean and has everything you would need to cook/bake in the kitchen. The kids loved the game room and it gave us adults some quiet time. The master suite was amazing and very comfortable. The hot tub was a definite plus at night when it was time to unwind. The location is wonderful, close to everything but still away from everything. My favorite park was having coffee in the mornings on the front porch, so peaceful. We will definitely return.

A home away from home with all the amenities needed for a mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you drive up to the cabin, you feel like you are nestled away from all the day to day craziness. The cabin is beautifully decorated as a rustic retreat. No detail was missed. Plenty of room for a large family, but cozy enough to bring family together. The kids will have a blast in the game room while the adults can relax in the hot tub. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee on the wrap around porch. My family had an amazing time here, and we plan to come back for a visit!

Home away from home without the cares of everyday life and a back drop of breathtaking mtn views.

  • 5 of 5

We had another amazing experience at this beautiful cabin getaway tucked in the breathtaking mountains of Boone NC. You enjoy the feeling of being isolated from the busy cares of day to day life, but can get to restaurants, shops, and entertainment sources in minutes. The cabin has amazing accommodations: fireplace, hot tub, finished basement, full kitchen, big screen tv, great stash of books, and wrap around porch just to name a few. You can truly stay and never leave the cabin to still have complete relaxing vacation. The cabin is immaculately

clean, tastefully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities needed for a fun girls weekend away, family getaway, and even a multi family retreat together. We have visited several times now for many different occasions, with a variety of guests, during different times of the year, and each time our guests are complimentary, our stay amazing, and forever memories are made.
