About Karen Shoemaker
My earliest years were of the small town in Kansas where I was born and have very fond memories. I live in a suburb of Denver full time close to my children and grandchildren and retired from a college library after 30 years. In addition, I very much enjoy and take pride in owning and renting the vacation home.
Karen Shoemaker purchased this House in 1993
Why Karen Shoemaker chose Willow Grove
Summit County is so close to the Denver area. It's only a one-hour drive to the best the mountains have to offer. When the site became available it was an easy decision to buy the land and build. It's all about the views and the convenience of being in the center of it all.
What makes this House unique
Located on easily accessed streets in Silverthorne. Close to the recreation center, shopping, highways 6, 9 and I-70 and yet on a very quiet, secluded street. There are no neighbors behind the property - just the lake, the incredible views and the occasional wildlife that passes through.

Quite cost home
We really enjoyed our stay, the house is well equipped and just outside of the main drag of Silverthorne, so convenient but quiet, with a great view.
Well situated for skiing, beautiful views, well stocked kitchen & more!
We stayed at this lovely duplex for our annual family ski trip to the area. We had two couples and two adult singles so the many bedrooms were just what we needed! The kitchen is well stocked and the view out over the pond is lovely. Would love to return in the summer months. We skied at Beavercreek, Vail, Breckenridge and Keystone and each was an easy drive AND we had lots of snow! The duplex is well cared for and Karen was very attentive to our needs. We arrived late at night but retrieving the key after hours was super easy. We'll be back! Thanks Karen!
Nice and Convenient
Stayed here with a few friends for a ski trip. Short drive multiple ski areas and into town. Beautiful view from the dining room.
Beautiful and comfortable!!
This home was perfect the perfect location for 4 couples who pick a spot yearly to retreat from the city and spend quality time together as friends. There was an ample amount of space for all of us, and the locale was perfect for having easy access to hiking, shopping, and fishing in multiple locations around the area. The lake behind the house was perfect for evening fishing, and the paths around it were breathtaking, as we saw osprey's and a myriad of other birds, and wildlife. Our entire group agreed that we will be likely to return to this house again on another one of our yearly getaways. :)
My family of 11 enjoyed our Thanksgiving stay in this well kept and clean property. We've stayed in many properties over the years and I have to say this is one of the best stocked places to cook almost anything imaginable...crockpot, rice cooker, pans galore...you name it. Now, for me, personally the best part of this place is the incredibly gorgeous view I woke up to every day. The little lake was a joy to walk around and so much fun for my grandkids to throw rocks into before it snowed. The grandkids loved the area and the path behind the lake offers such a calm, peaceful and beautiful path by the river. I hope to come back again soon. The owner is wonderful and friendly to work with. Finally, the location is close to everything while keeping you in the mountains.
Thank you for the wonderful review. As many times as I've stayed at the duplex I am always in awe of the view.
Our family had an amazing stay at the lovely duplex in Silverthorne. We had 7 family members and we were all comfortable and loved the accommodations! The views were spectacular! We loved our daily walks around the lake and down to the river. There was so much to do and see! I loved having a full kitchen with everything I could have needed to cook for my family. We were so sad to leave this little piece of heaven on earth! Thank you, Karen, for a wonderful place to experience Colorado!
