Perfect for a family and more!!

  • 5 of 5

I am writing this review as I watch television in front of an open fire. House is great and location is hard to beat. We rented this house for our family of 5 plus my wife's brother who is the 6th. It is much bigger than advertised and very large rooms. Appalachian Ski Mountain is wonderful as well. I hate to promote it as we do not want any competition for next year. Thanks a bunch Jeremy!! BTW we had a water issue that once emailed Jeremy responded by cell phone in less than 2-3 minutes. Quite incredible!!

Beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful home with lots of room. We stayed December 30th, 2105 thru January 5th, 2016. The living area of the house is perfect for a large group. Plenty of seating and room for everyone to enjoy their stay. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the home doesn't comfortably sleep 10 as advertised. The sofa bed is really bad. I had brought a queen blow up mattress, so it was fine. There was plenty of room to set up the mattress in the downstairs, out of the way.

The hot tub was a HUGE hit with everyone. Did get a little smelly towards the end of the stay but that might have been because we used it so much.

What we weren't prepared for was the massive amount of snow that gathered from the ski slope blowing machines. It was beautiful and gave the kids a wonderful opportunity to have snowball fights, but even with my 4-wheel drive vehicle, we were unable to get out the morning we were to leave.

We would definitely stay again. As I said, a beautiful home.

And thank you to Cathy for being available for our phone calls.

Wonderful Stay in the Mountains

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay in the Mountain House. There was plenty of room and I loved the open living room/dining room/kitchen for keeping together. The fireplace was the perfect touch to make our Thanksgiving holiday feel warm and cozy. It was a breeze cooking in the kitchen - everything was up to date and accessible! The only complaint I have is that the "panoramic view" was blocked by overgrown trees and the lights from the ski resort were bothersome at times during the evening/night time hours.

Fantastic Mountain Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful weekend in Blowing Rock. This house was fabulous - very modern, roomy, and clean. The upstairs master has a beautiful patio that leads to an outdoor jacuzzi. The downstairs area is spacious and has 2 additional bedrooms. The kitchen/great room/dining area is beautiful. The house is also very conveniently located to Tweetsie and downtown Blowing Rock and Boone -it was the perfect location for a trip with our two young children. There was also a crib! (A real crib, not a pack and play). We will come back again!

View????

  • 3 of 5

The only reason I am giving this property 3 stars is due to the misleading photos of ANY view WHATSOEVER!! The only "panoramic" views on this property are of the back of the small trees (which are now VERY large trees) pictured in the photos, and the sky. Or, if you are in the hotbub, views of the surrounding lattice and chain link fence on the back side of Applacachian Ski Mountain. I honestly don't believe you would have views in the winter either being that most of the trees are evergreen! If you are booking this property for any reason based off of the "paoramic" mountian views then just don't!!!

Other than that, the property is in a GREAT loction! Minutes to downtown blowing rock and right at the top of App Ski Mountain (I don't think you could "ski on" as I have seen in some of the reviews unless you want to climb a large chain link fence or risk prosecution for tresspassing at the top of the slope). Property was very clean and comfortable. The kids loved the hot tub and the bunk beds, as well as having their own downstairs living area complete with a television! Having three full baths was also a big plus. We were able to bring our King Charles Cavalier who loved the property as well.

My only suggestion would be to remove the photos in the advertisement!

Missed the Summer Views

  • 4 of 5

The house itself is very nice. It is well kept inside and clean. The outside could use a sweeping and had several major webs and bees nests that could use tending to. I did find the cleaning charge to be excessive considering the keeper also requests tips, and two of the beds did not have sheets on them and we had to make them ourselves - which was not fun at midnight.

As stated in other reviews, there is no view due to the overgrown trees along the driveway. I would suggest trimming those trees to keep the privacy but allow the view to shine through.

Finally - the garbage. The renters before us took the garbage to the street which was overflowing and would not close. The garbage did not pick up on that Friday as the owners stated, so we left the garbage by the street hoping each day it would be picked up. Every morning we found the garbage overturned and strewn across the street. This was gross and a pain to clean on our vacation - additionally we had nowhere to put our own garbage! With the hefty cleaning fee, the garbage should be hauled away or more cans should be provided.

All in all we had a great time on our vacation - no bad views or garbage will get us down - but all things to think about!! The house was very lovely and I could see a winter visit!
