Perfect getaway for Social Distancing.
This property far exceeded our expectations and we could not wait to arrive. It is absolutely perfect. The beautifully appointed cabin and the views can not be found anywhere. We frequent the Black Hills often and this is the crown jewel of the Black Hills. We loved the solitude and upscale amenities. Property owner is always available via text and responds quickly to questions. We will be back. Love it and miss it already.
Thank you Rhonda for your great review. You were a wonderful guest and I really apprciate how you left the cabin!
I am here this week for projects. Love waking up in the morning to the fresh scent of the pines and sage. What a great combination. And the sun on heating up the rock walls. It is easy to forget how beautiful and tranquil it is here when I am at home in the city!
At the edge of the canyon and the top of the world.
The house is beautiful. A log cabin that is well furnished and equipped. The two bedrooms were wonderful. The loft was fantastic. The views are amazing. We hiked down to the valley and across the ridge. We had the good fortune to watch a storm come across the canyon followed by a rainbow. This house is amazing and your visit will be memorable. We hated to leave.
The host is a hostess with the mostest. She answered our many questions, pointed us toward great hiking from the house and MOST of all she is prepared. We had a flat tire the last day and she had a compressed air pump so we could drive slowly to Custer.
One note--the WIFI is great, but there is no cell service at the house or from Custer to the house. Download any directions or maps.
Perfect location for beauty and solitude
The splendor of this property is unbeatable. The cabin is beautifully appointed and the views can’t be beat. We enjoyed sitting on the canyon-side deck each night watching the cliff swallows swoop and loop the canyon having their dinner. The stars at night are amazing. The serenity of the cabin is a dream. If you are looking for a place to be away from it all - this is it. The property owner is very responsive and a joy to work with. Highly recommend!
Thank you Lynda for your nice review! We built the cabin and have enjoyed the canyon for years. But I still marvel at it every day.
We could not believe these amazing views! Came here for “baby-moon” and it was just what we needed! Isolated, quiet, and relaxing with beautiful views for days. Even the drive down the dirt roads to the cabin were somehow relaxing. We found ourselves just staring down into the valley looking for deer and other animals most of the time. A few of the days the deer would walk right up the driveway! The hiking was challenging and fun as well. Then the hot tub was a welcomed sight after hiking, and the placement was perfect for sunset soaks. Definitely did NOT want to leave!
Thank you for your nice comments. I can spend hours exploring the canyon rim and bottom and still never see another soul. People are always surprised to find this isolated wilderness so untouched by man, yet still so relatively easy to get to. And within a half hour of stores and other conveniences of modern life. The canyon was privately owned by a ranching family for years and therefore, not many people have seen it's spectacular red rock cliffs. If people can get here, it is the perfect place to spend time away from crowds and reconnect with the outside.
We loved our stay at the cabin. It was cozy, and the canyon views were amazing. We loved watching the sunrise and the sunset and the cabin is positioned perfectly to view both. Memories made for a lifetime.
Golf: Choose from nearly three dozen golf courses throughout the Black Hills. Hot Springs, just 15-20 minutes away, offers one of the most dramatic driving tees in the U.S.. It was named the number one 9 hole by Golf Digest until recently when a second 9 changed the course to a full 18 holes. Other courses are located in Custer, Deadwood, Spearfish and multiple courses in and around Rapid City.
Ski: Terry Peak ski resort is located just outside of Deadwood South Dakota. It features a 1,200 foot vertical drop with both mid-mountain and base lodges. Multiple chair lifts and and tow lifts make for fast mountain access with short lift lines.
