We recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Ocean Breeze Villa and we could not have asked for a more perfect place. The unit was beautifully appointed and the view overlooking the ocean was amazing. This was our first visit to North Caicos and we would certainly be going back to visit.
The 4 of us, 2 Americans and 2 Brits, take holiday rentals around the world whenever we can and this year we wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing to cover from a somewhat traumatic year. Ocean Breeze, only steps from a truly beautiful and almost deserted beach in N. Caicos, and with its pool, garden furniture and gazebo fitted the bill to perfection. Inside was as described, comfortable and well equipped with everything we could need.
However, what made our holiday truly memorable was rhe warmth, kindness and efficiency of our hosts, Darville and Kadra. They, with their delightful little daughter Nikki and their friendly dog, Roxie, lived next door and we're always available if needed but never intruded. Kadra got in groceries as requested for our arrival, organised our transport from Provo airport by taxi, ferry and another taxi to the house, provided us with a local cell phone with her number in so that we could contact her and offered to take us to a local barbecue the following evening where we could meet some of her friends and relatives. We took her up on that and had a great time and went again on our own the following week. She organised a car for us so that we could explore the island and cross the causeway to Middle Caicos which was well worth doing as we found lovely views, caves to visit, good food at Mudjin Bay and at Daniel's cafe where we also met Lovey, a local singer, talked with the very interesting Daniel and discovered the wonderful sea grass baskets made by the ladies of the local co-operative. When Kadra discovered it was Rodney's birthday, she brought us a gift pack of wine and snacks. Nothing was too much trouble for her and when the time came for us to leave she organised an overnight stay for us in Provo with taxi service from ferry to hotel and hotel to airport provided by her lovely young nephew. In spite of her busy schedule, because our car was too small for all of us and luggage, she came home to drive 2 of us to the ferry and wish us all farewell. Darville had also responded promptly to switch on a generator for us when there was a power cut. Terrific service from them both.
We took a boat trip, snorkelled a little, enjoyed good food and drink and really loved the friendly welcoming Islanders and very much hope to visit again.
Just finishing five weeks on North Caicos at Kadra's wonderful home. All our emails prior to the trip were quickly answered and we were greeted at the ferry from Provo with a huge hug. The house is a good size with everything you would need. The beach is indescribable and most days we had to ourselves (with Roxie, the potcake). Probably have way too many conch shells, dead coral and coral fans to fill another suitcase. Kadra also hooked us up with some fishermen who supplied with a huge bag of lobster tails. Many afternoons spent in the pool and in the gazebo playing cards. This will definitely stay on our list of places to come back to and we will recommend it to our friends.
Can not say enough good about these owners. Kadra and her husband truly go out of their way from moment one until the moment you leave. Everything was arranged from taxis to ferry to car. And when one of the people on our trip had flight issues it was all rearranged. The house was great and the beach magnificent. The owner runs a grocery store and liquor store and this makes it almost like an inclusive package. While you pay for those items it is so easy and everything taken care of in one stop. The one thing this ad does not do justice to is the proximity to the beach and the beauty of the beach. We had it nearly entirely to ourselves the whole weekend, it is mere steps from the house and breath taking. The addition of having the pool at the house is a real plus too. Oh and the dog is the coolest. She followed us to the beach each day and watched us like it was her job to take care of the guests. Can not wait to go back!!!!
This was our first trip to Turks and Caicos, specifically North Caicos, so we were not sure what to expect. Our transport to/from was arranged and the rental unit was spacious and everything our family needed. The beach was just steps down the path, people in the community are friendly and welcoming, it was by far a trip to remember. The owners are the most wonderful people and it was definitely hard to leave. This will not be the last time we come, I can't wait to visit again!
When I saw photos of the pool & gazebo, I knew this was the right property. I wanted a remote island; North Caicos fit the bill. The house was near the beach, & the gazebo offered an ocean view.
Re: Home owner Kadra: She was wonderfully responsive to my emails & offered to purchase groceries for us prior to our arrival. No charge for her time. She would drive us to restaurants a couple nights. This was sounding too good to be true.
Transportation sounded complex. Kadra arranged for a cab driver to pick us up at the airport and take us to the ferry, as well as to pick us up at the North Caicos ferry dock and drive us to the rental home.
All communication with Kadra was by email. I was more than a bit anxious we’d end up on a remote island with no transportation and no place to stay, but Kadra was true to her word. Cab drivers were at the airport and ferry dock to pick us up.
The rental home was a duplex. Darville and Kadra lived in the other half and were available to help us. They provided a cell phone to use when we were there. The kitchen was stocked with the groceries we had ordered. They provided as much bottled water as we wanted. The bedrooms were spacious –beds comfortable. Soft, white bath towels, as well as colorful beach towels, awaited our use. The on-line photos accurately portrayed the house.
The pool was cleaned daily (water was a little chilly!). There was plenty of patio furniture that seemed relatively new and was comfortable. The beach was a minute’s walk away.
At first we had no hot water. We thought maybe luke-warm water was the island way. I asked about it, and a new water heater was installed the next day.
Mudjin Harbour (Middle Caicos) was a photographer’s delight. We had Horse Stable beach (North Caicos) to ourselves – there was no one in sight. The beaches and skies were a private paradise, packaged in turquoises and blues, accented with white sand and fluffy white clouds.
Silver Palms Restaurant was first class. Food was wonderful. Service was excellent. Daniel’s (Middle Caicos) was quaint and quirky with a limited menu. The food was very good.
Kadra and Darville provided great customer service without being invasive. They even invited us on a picnic with them and their friends. Darville brought me a glass of wine one evening, and Kadra brought us one of her home-cooked dishes to try. We’d like to return to North Caicos – and we’d like to stay at Ocean Breeze again.
Addtional $50 per night for parties of 3 or more. Free pick up and drop off at North Caicos on arrival and departure. To make your settling in easy, we also pre-purchase all basic grocery and essentials at no additional cost. Just refund for items purchased on arrival.
