|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
Located on the favored north shore of PEI, only 15 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from Charlottetown. This waterfront, single story, 3 bedroom vacation home sits on 3/4 acre lot with glorious views across Brackley Bay to the sand dunes of the National Provincial Park. With easy access to the Bay, which is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing or bird watching.
Relax and watch the wildlife, Bald Eagles and Osprey. Or enjoy a cool beverage in the 6 person Hot Tub and admire the view. You may catch a glimpse of the hummingbirds as they feed.
The house has 3 double bedrooms that sleep 6. Nearest sandy beach is only 2 minutes by car (complimentary Park permit provided) and 10 golf courses are within 5-30 mins drive.
Would make a memorable vacation for families and couples.
Golf: It is no small feat when Canada's smallest Province becomes Canada's #1 Golf Destination and PEI has earned the distinction twice in a row. Host destination for 'Big Break' for 2009 on the Golf Channel. Only the second location outside of the USA. For new and experienced golfers alike, Prince Edward Island offers a golfing experience not to be missed with more than 30 courses to fit every skill level - from scenic nine hole courses to those rated among the top 10 in Canada! A 10 minutes drive from Tigh-Na-Mara is Stanhope, a professionally maintained and mature 18 holes consisting of satisfying par 3s, long par 4s and par 5s where birdies are possible. Playing alongside the scenic Covehead Bay the ocean breezes can contribute to an interesting round. Check out the PEI golf map and you will find a further 10 courses within 10-20 minutes drive, close enough to have a round in the morning, pop home for lunch before moving on to another course in the afternoon.
Beaches: Prince Edward Island is blessed with 800 kms (500 miles) of the warmest beaches north of the Carolinas. Every one of the 90 sandy strips of heaven is unique. Some spill into the ocean with characteristic red sand. Others sparkle white and pink. On some beaches the sand is so fine that it makes a squeaking noise when you step on it, which is why Islanders often refer to it as 'singing sands'. The nearest beaches to Tigh-Na-Mara are Brackley Beach and Ross Lane (complimentary pass) - even in high season there is so much space you will have no trouble laying down your towel or putting up your beach chairs. Children will enjoy the clear waters, making sand castles or sand walls at the waters edge to hold back the waves, while the adults will enjoy walking for hours in bare feet, watching the birds and tracking the tides. Or everyone can simply enjoy the sheer pleasure of jumping waves. And at the end of the day, there is no finer place to watch the sunset or gaze up at the stars
Other Activities: Kayaking, canoeing, amusement park, water park, animal petting farm, drive in cinema, Horse racing, Casino
Pictures never lie and it couldn't be more true for this beautiful cottage. What was offered at this lovely getaway was beyond our expectations. The property and grounds were well maintained and everything you needed was made available, and then some. The owners, Trevor and Judy, were very accommodating and wonderful to deal with. One of the most pleasurable amenities was the outdoor hottub overlooking the bay and the serenity of the location was absolutely priceless.
We were grateful that we were so close to the Dunes Gallery - we ate there 3 times and must say it was our favorite place to also shop for gifts. Cavendish Beach is probably one of the most beautiful beaches in North America and we enjoyed walking and biking in that area of PEI. We were also able to enjoy a couple of rounds of golf during our stay.
This was probably one of the most restful holidays we've had as we spent a good length of time just relaxing at Tigh-Na-Mara and enjoying its beautiful view and tranquility.
My favorite piece of decor at the cottage was Eeyore, the stuffed animal in one of the bedrooms. Absolutely adorable. I'm trying to get one on EBay!
We're hoping to return some day to Tigh-Na-Mara and have been singing the praises of this beautiful cottage since we've returned home.
We could not have been happier. From the moment we walked in the door we knew this was going to be a perfect vacation. And Brackley Beach and especially Tigh-na-Mara (cottage by the sea) didn't disappoint. The house was perfect it and exceeded our expectations. For those in the master bedroom, keep the curtains open and you'll be treated to a spectacular sunrise over the bay in the morning. For the others get up a little early and enjoy it from the living room through the huge wall of glass facing the bay. At night turn out all the lights and enjoy watching the stars from the hot tub in the deck The house had everything we cold ask for in amenities. Don't forget to take advantage of the two person kayak to explore the bay.
You could not have asked for a better area to explore and enjoy. From the miles of biking along the beach, to the beach itself. If you are one of those people who like to take long walks on the beach you simply can't get any better than this. Even the shopping was fun (and I usually hate to shop). On that rainy day make sure you visit "The Dunes", especially their gardens. And don't miss the Great Canadian Soap Factory. You'll never use regular soap again. If you are in to Anne of Green Gables, it is just a short drive away in Cavandish. A bit touristy though, but if youve never done it you should.
But our biggest surprise was randomly coming across this local phenomenon called a "Ceilidh" (pronounced Kay lee), local entertainment at the Brackley Community Center featuring Cynthia MacLoud, a fantastic fiddler, along with other local talented people playing guitar and others performing Scottish step dancing. It was a real local treat.
I cannot say enough about this vacation. And Tigh-Na-Mara was at the center of it. I cannot recommend it enough. It was just perfect.
From the moment we entered Tigh-Na-Mara we could tell we were going to have a great time. The house was very clean, bright and had everything you could ask for. We used the hottub every day! This area is very quiet, perfect for a relaxing vacation. The location was great, Charlottown and Cavendish were not too far and there were several other attractons all within a short driving distance. Don't miss The Dunes, The Gouda Cheese Lady and The Great Canadian Soap Factory. All are really close by. The Park pass that is provided with the house was an excellent bonus. The Brackley Beach was great for swimming and long walks. Lots of great bike paths and rentals near by too. We would love to return to Tigh-Na-Mara again and would reccommend it to everyone. You won't be dissapointed!
