Enjoy this unique waterfront property in the heart of Port Clyde village with unobstructed views of Muscungous Bay and the Islands beyond. Harbor House offers the best of both worlds- proximity to the charming village of Port Clyde, yet it's off the main road. The property features over 200 feet of accessible waterfront on Muscungous Bay where you can stroll down to the beach to check out what the tide brought in, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the boats passing in the harbor.
The house offers a great viewing spot for the activities that make Port Clyde one of the most interesting and vibrant harbors in Maine. Enjoy watching the sail boats navigating the harbor as fishermen and lobstermen haul their daily catch.
This inviting home is wonderful for small families with one floor living, low clutter and a very open layout with wonderful views of Port Clyde Harbor out to Monhegan Island. The half acre lawn is flat and open making for great games of catch or just running around.
Accommodations- Harbor house offers very clean and comfortable accommodations with the entire house completely renovated in 2006. The house has been completely repainted, has had new floors installed and has all new furnishings. The house is appointed in neutral colors with a nautical feel allowing the beautiful natural surroundings to be the main focal point. The master bedroom has a California King bed overlooking the Bay, and the second bedroom is decorated in a nautical theme and has two twin beds.
The living room that also overlooks the ocean has a queen size sofa bed. The views from this house are quite memorable. If you are lucky enough to have a full moon, the reflection off the water will be unforgettable. Its also not a bad place to wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee while gazing out across the water through the big bay window.
Location location location- Harbor house is ideally situated with many amenities within walking distance yet it still offers peacefulness and serenity. Within two minutes you can walk to the Port Clyde General store, the Ice Cream shop, the boat launch, the kayak launch or dockside dining. Marshall Point Lighthouse and Drift Inn beach are are also lovely walks from the house (around 1 mile).
Owners live in Greenwich CT and fell in love with Port Clyde Maine after driving up and down the coast for 2 years. The place has a 'yesteryear' feeling about it that is a wonderful experience for children growing up in faster paced environments.
Michael Keating purchased this house in 2006
We love the town and the location of this house was perfect given its close proximity to town yet it still has some privacy.
Traveling out to the islands in the bay, fishing, clamming, looking for sea glass, meandering about town, enjoying the local restaurants.
As a renter, I need to know what to expect. Based on previous reviews, I was surprised. This place has a gorgeous view. Right near the water, beautiful, quiet place to spend time. If you don't care about anything else this is your place. Otherwise, please read the following.
This is the first VRBO that didn't provide any information regarding the area, restaurants or about the house itself. There wasn't any hanging place for clothes. There is a large closet in the master that was locked. There is a closet with washer/dryer in a second bedroom. No hangers in the open narrow space between them. The dishes, glasses and pots and pans were dirty. No dishwash liquid was provided so I assume previous guests rinsed in water and put away since it is required all dishes are cleaned when you leave. We bought our own and a sponge. The towels are very rough and inferior and look like they were purchased at a yard sale from someone's cabin that used them for 15 years. One towel was filthy. The shower/bath tub are very old and the water pressure is weak. Because our chair in the master was being used as a clothing hanger, when my husband and I both sat on the end of the bed to put our socks on, the king bed went flying up! The pillows are horrible. We bought fish at the local coop to grill to find that there wasn't a propane tank.
I reached out to the owner and he responded immediately. He did have someone put in another propane tank the next day, but being our last night, we ended up eating in Rockland. My biggest concern is that the propane tank was stored in the basement. Propane shouldn't be stored in buildings.
The owner was responsive and has reached out to me which I appreciate. I just know as a person who spent a week of my vacation in a place I didn't enjoy, I would like to read a review with reality. The view kept me there, but in Maine I can find that in other rentals with much nicer housing.
Mike, your house on the oceanfront was so relaxing and the perfect place to set out each morning to paint landscapes. When I returned each morning the new deck was there to welcome me for breakfast. Shirley, walked six miles almost everyday accept when we went over to Monheagan Island. Your place was a great location to wonder around the charming town of Port Clyde! The views from all the windows were stuning. We want to return ASAP! Mike, you were so nice and helpful, with info about the town and the arts. Hope to be back soon!
The Port Clyde house is great. It was a reasonable size and layout for two people and our somewhat mobility challenged dogs. The view from the living room was amazing... We could have sat and ocean/boat/wildlife/people watched for the entire week and been thrilled... But there are some nifty sites so close by that even our older pup got to sightsee.
The house is comfortable, cheery and bright. There is cable and internet, but honestly, if you are watching television instead of looking out that window, you are so missing out. Herons, cormorants, osprey, eider ducks with fifty billion ducklings, eagles, woodcocks, and a white tailed deer all made an appearance in the yard in the week we visited. Just a fantastic location and a wonderfully homey place. Would recommend this place highly (just save us a spot!)
Laundry on site was also a wonderful amenity, as coastal Maine in early June means bringing days worth of both summer and winter clothes and still finding you didn't quite bring enough of the right type of either.
Awesome place, awesome owners.
This little getaway was wonderful for my small family of 4. The pictures are exactly what you get. In fact, the place is actually much better than the pictures. My favorite spot was looking out the picture window watching my 2 boys play while I was relaxing or making something for dinner. Their favorite place was down along the beach collecting shells, lobster claws, sea glass. The location and being on the water with your own almost private beach was the true highlight. The house was very nice and well stocked. We were definitely comfortable. It was also nice to be able to walk over to the store for whatever we needed or to walk for ice cream. Great place and great location. Highly recommended for all ages. The owners were very easily to get a hold of and friendly.
We just returned home after a week in Port Clyde at the Keating house. Our stay was everything we hoped it would be and then some. Manal and Mike were wonderful to work with. The house was exactly as described. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and the lot itself was perfectly located within the little village of Port Clyde. We found all of the locals very friendly and helpful and made many new friends while there. We highly recommend this location.
Great relaxing vacation and beautiful location with an unbelievable view and front yard right on the harbor. We relaxed our entire time and enjoyed just walking around the area and doing day trips from the very comfortable house.
